Bommala koluvu 2022 - USA

In this video, I have presented our bommala koluvu in detail. I have been setting up bommala koluvu for the past 7 years, and this festival has been so special to me. Even though bommala koluvu is not a tradition on both side of our families, I started keeping it because of my passion. I grew up seeing my peddamma ( Mom's aunt) keeping it for Navarathri and I guess that developed interest in me many years later. Getting the clay dolls to the USA is difficult due to their weight and risk of damage, so I ended up having a bigger collection of Kondapally dolls. ( Kondapally dolls are special wooden dolls made in Kondapally, AP). These are lightweight dolls and are handmade. Navarathri bommala koluvu is set up for 9 days of Navarathri and the puja starts after we set up the Kalasam. Marapachi Raju and Rani dolls are the most important part of the bommala koluvu arrangement as per tradition.
