it really depends on the color of the hair, for me i had to bleach it first in order for the dye to work on the hair or change the color because black hair is not going to process the dye,i did use 2 bottles of the dye which that part depends on the color that you want the hair to be
i did use the water bleaching method first but it didn't really change the color it was still pretty black so i went back in the second time with just the bleach and it gave me the color i wanted

I have watched multiple vids on how to do this but never saw anyone do it this way. I thought U were water-dipping with the bleach..
