i have biked the trails at dead horse many times, mostly in the spring, fun, not to crowded and great views ! one year the wife and i were the last ones to bike it around 4pm, it felt like our own private trails ! barely got back before dark to our camp on the colorado river ! great memories ! when you and john were standing next to each other on an overlook site, i noticed johns 6 ft 5 inch towering over you !
Lu and I really enjoyed your video. Utah looks gorgeous. With your reminiscing about shows you watched as a child, I got to thinking about a song I remember from way back then...Tumbling Tumbleweeds by Roy Rogers & Sons of the Pioneers. It would’ve fit perfectly into your playlist, Debbie. 😁
Sky King, My Friend Flicka, Zorro and Sugarfoot, I haven’t heard them mentioned for years. Thanks for bringing back good memories of my childhood. Great video. I need to go to southern Utah as I am now close, living in Las Vegas. Fig Newtons, also a blast from the past. You are my kind of people.
Thank you for including us in your travels. Really fun! My husband and I are close to retirement and seriously considering a Class B. We keep wondering about the length of the chassis. It’s tempting to get caught up in the extra room and storage available in a longer rig. But then I remind myself of what you have said about you and John being the happiest on the road when you are traveling with the least stuff. Any further thoughts you can share about this from your wealth of experience would be super helpful. Thank you for all of the hours you devote to this channel. Feels like an act of love. 😎🚐😎
Of course everyone has different priorities. It’s been interesting to watch our neighbors deal with their slightly longer vehicle. Most friction happens because of our stuff. If a backpacker can carry everything they need in a tiny pack, then the problem really is just between our ears. I constantly see folks on TH-cam who downsize rather than upsize. If at all possible, rent something before you buy. Feel free to email me if you have questions. energymaven@gmail.com
Heading to this area early next month - very excited to see this video as a preview for us and now feeling lucky that we were able to book a site in Green River State Park!
Really appreciate and enjoy your videos. Recently retired, and I'm looking hard at the pleasure-way to explore the US 🇺🇸. RV inventories are so low right it's difficult. Thanks for sharing your insights! Jim B. Ventura Ca.
Great campgrounds. Will remember them for the future.went to Deadhorse Point near Page, AZ when I should have went to the Deadhorse State Park like you all did.
My wife and I are now planning a trip to the Southwest in the spring. Thanks for the recommendations. Also, we are using our moon shade as our outdoor shower curtain holder. Works great and only need thin cord to hold it in place. Dave
If you haven't visited Canyon de Chelly..Good opportunity for you. Finally got our PW Plateau TS..been camping at Canyon Point (NF) near Willow Springs Lake on hwy 260 East of Payson, AZ. Safe travels...Jim & Sharon...Payson
Amazing video of the petroglyphs! Too cool! Y'all are in amazing shape with all the bike riding you do! Thanks for taking us with you to Utah! See you next time! (Your friend, Jane in SC)
Another wonderful and beautiful video. I loved your analogy of the tumbleweeds moving wherever the wind takes them and your journey through the canyon lands moving wherever your heart led you. The pictures of the canyon landscape were beyond our human ability to adequately describe. Beautiful, beautiful, beautiful. Thank you for making the videos and allowing us to travel along with you and John. As a side note, we visited the north rim of the Grand Canyon this summer, I think it is more beautiful than the south rim, and we saw very few other visitors. Maybe around a hundred people the entire time we were there. This coming year we plan on making our trip to Utah in the spring instead of our usual summer time trip. It will be fun to be there when it is a bit cooler and maybe a little greener.
DEBBIE & John, Nice trip, noticed quite a bit of haze in the distance photos, wondered I’d some might have been smoke ? FYI. that west coast smoke has made it here, but unless you are out on ocean, you do not see it , as too high , no smell either , so many hieroglyphs , on those low rocks, Can you even deign to think, how old ?, some traffic too, ! Stay well, safe travels , cheers 🇺🇸🇺🇸🇺🇸🇺🇸
Hey guys. What an upbeat video! Wondering. Saw the Peak Design tripod. How's that working out? Loving the griddle? That bike trail looked like a potential hospital visit but so pretty. Wishing we were out there. The Green River site was more than perfect. Wow! Heat video visit with our friends. What a great Friday night relaxation entertainment. Keep having fun.
LOL. I’m sure Owen knows the feeling when you have overworked a video until you hate it. I told John I might not post this one but he said I should. Do we get hyper critical of our work as time goes on? Loving the griddle. Really like the tripod; only wish I could have afforded the carbon fiber version. But not like I’m going to hike with it.
Beautiful views! Dead Horse Point State Park and Canyonlands National Park are so awesome! Did you know that the ending of the movie Thelma & Louise was filmed at Dead Horse Point State Park? Thank you for sharing your adventures!
We hiked Wildhorse 2 years ago and turned back when the water was waist deep. If you have not seen the canyon with water, check out some TH-cam videos of the canyon during the rainy season! Thanks for the video.
Oh my. What stunning scenery. Thank you so much for sharing. I saw you starting to cook on the griddle but it didn’t happen! ☹️. Thank you for taking us along. 🤗💕
Awning doesn’t stay deployed because any breeze or even just closing the door makes it retract. Also the moonshade sits lower to the ground so better shade.
@@FromShetoMe Thank you. We thought that might be the case, and in your video saw it on both sides and liked the idea of keeping the refrig side cooler. We enjoy your videos and really interested in the biking rides as we finally got our Class B and ebikes. Thanks again!
Deadhorse is stunning. My husband and I tent camped near there maybe 25 years ago. Yes it was full and we couldn't get a spot, so we went out to some nearby unofficial overflow area. It was just for a night and no hassles. What I remember was the fine fine fine red dust that got in and on everything - and scorpions! We were very careful to keep the tent well zipped. But the beauty made up for it. I loved it there.
I absolutely love your channel. Have been through Utah but just passing thru and it was beautiful. The map you are showing the different campsites and how close everything was in that area. I am curious were you can purchase the map. I assume it is a state map.
You mentioned, a while back, that you like your Moonshade better than the awning that came with your van. Can you explain why? Thanks so much! Love your videos.
The awning retracts with slight breezes and it sits pretty high so less shade. We are currently camping on BLM land with a fairly big breeze so if we didn’t have the moonshade, we’d be getting blasted by the sun. The Moonshade can be placed on either side and on the rear.
Fig newtons, required for distance cyclists, isn’t it? You were really active, biking, hiking, and checking out the sights. Thanks for taking us along.
That was fun to tag along. I saw you have a rear screen in your rig. Is that one you purchased, or made? I’m not sure if you’ve done one and I missed it but I would love to see a video where you show us all the apps you use to find your camp spots. I just bought a moon shade. Can’t wait to try it out but for now I’m still working on getting on the road. Thanks for another great video. ❤️🚐
Headed north on the 15 from Las Vegas to Park City, Utah, on a Sunday this month. Do you know, is there anything at all worth stopping to see? Thinking maybe a picnic in Yuba State Park.
@@FromShetoMe Indeed. Low 40s/20s when we are going. Plus there is snow. Say, I made a version of that outdoor shower you taught us. There is a picture on my Instagram. I am going to modify it a bit more on Version 2.0.

Moab is being loved to death! Not as bad if you get away from town: Lasalle Mountain Loop, Sand Flats Road, Castle Valley, and 128 along the river towards I-70 are nice day trips that get you away from the crowds. Some BLM camping available, too.

Best part of Utah is its variety of the geography!
I love your electric bikes. The last camp site by the river was awesome. Thanks for sharing.

Yes, it has been mostly the smoke causing the haze here.
that haze was wildfire smoke, possibly from CA if not closer. We wereat Horsethief about 10 days ago.
A good hike is Murphy Point down to the plateau below and only partway out towards Murphys Hogback. Do an out and back, not he loop.

How do you secure your bikes when you leave them and go hiking?
We try to cover them and use an Abus lock, attached to something solid.
Thanks for having us along. Was this trip in late September?
Late September/October.
What kind of bikes are you using?
Rad mini

WE were there in mid August 2019 unbearably hot. What time of year is video?
We are here right now. Mid 80s during the day. 40s at night.

It's a Kenwood but don't know the model number off hand.
The Utah series is great! We're heading there from the east cost in 2023. We're thinking Mid march or April. What time of the year were you guys there?
We generally go in the fall. March and April may be a bit early. But you never know. You can always hang south and then move north as weather permits.
So much fun. How do I get a Senior Access Pass?
What app do you use to find BLM land?
Thank you
At 62 you can get it on line or at a USFS or National Park office. I think it is $80 for lifetime. App called “public land”
From She to Me so I have National Park Senior Pass card. Is that the same as Access card you mentioned.
Rhonda McCay Yes.
From She to Me thank you. Good to know I can use it on BLM. I didn’t know
Yes, it works at USFS, National Parks, and BLM, unless operated by a concessionaire.
is it not illegal for your bikes on the back to be covering your tail lights?
I don't think they are covering the tail lights. We do need to move the license plate though.
