    Thank you very much for posting this. My machine started sewing as soon as I plugged the foot in and I couldn’t stop it. I cut thé little wire and it’s working perfectly now. 😅

    I have now managed to open it by sending pictures to my son. He pointed out, that I needed to take the circlips off, which was extremely difficult and fiddly ! I cut the wire as instructed, and my machine is now like new ! Thank you !

    Thank you for the tip about cutting the wire to stop my machine from running on. I now have a perfectly working machine again. Amazing.

    Thank you so much for creating this video. Like others my sewing machine foot pedal was running without being pressed. After following your instructions it now works perfectly.

    Excellent! Fixed it. A big help in taking it apart and obviously putting it back together. Great!.

    This is just brilliant - thank you so much!. I have a working foot control, but can't wind the cord in. I couldn't work out how to get into the control until this video - and you actually told me the cause of my issue. Fantastic!

    THANK YOU - cut that stiff wire with the orange thing and now it doesn’t sew like it’s possessed! What is it and what purpose did it serve before it got faulty?

    Thank you for sharing this video. When I looked at the wires they seemed to be OK. I giggled them around a bit and now it all works. I wonder whether it was that wire with the orange blobs. My machine did run away on its own a few times before it stopped completely.

    Great video. Do you know the maximum resistance of what I believe is a sliding pot inside the foot pedal? There is probably a switch combined, how about the topology inside the pedal with regard to the three terminals of the jack? Much appreciated if you can help with this.

    Very interesting ! All well and good, except for a few things. My foot control for my ELNA 5000, type P 500, has not got a screw on the side. I took the grey cover strip off, and I’m unable to locate the clip you are talking about, to enable the rod holding the two parts together to be removed ! So now, at 78, I’m frustrated and hot and bothered, because I thought I had a solution to my problem.
    Can you suggest anything, as I can not see any clips. I’d send pictures, but there isn’t the facility so to do.

    Thank you for the video, i've replaced the cord and it won't work for me (Elna Diva 900). I suspect the sliding resistor to be faulty: there is no linear evolution of the resistance at its terminal. My pedal works like an ON/OFF switch, sometimes even without pressing the pedal my sewing machine run at the lowest speed and stop, randomly. I'm looking for the reference of that sliding resistor, or maybe its value (min and max resistance). I've also tested the capacitor it seems ok, 2.4uF. Thank you :)

    Thanks so much for this great video! My Elna 9000 would not stop running when the pedal was connected. My local repair shop did a diagnostic for $29.00, only to tell me there was a "problem with the electronics" in my foot pedal, they also offered me a new foot pedal for $185.00. I took the pedal apart followed your instructions, clipped one of the legs of the "interference capacitor", put it back together and it works perfectly!!!!! One question...what does the "interference capacitor" do? Why is it part of the design of the foot pedal? Will I run any risk of a short? Thanks again!

      Hi, I have the same problem. I have Elna Diva 9000 and it is about 26 years old... everything is fine, but it runs like mad, when the foot control is connected. I have already taken it apart myself several times, but it keeps doing that... I am just a girl and have no soldering skills myself, but I could pull off one of the leads easily)))). Do you know which one it was??? I do hope you see my comment!!! Thank you in advance!!!🤗

    Do you know the value range of the potentiometer and this brown capacitor? ;)

      @@tomrice5796 someone posted pic of the potentiometer, it is 10KA which means 10k logarithmic pot.

    Thanks, this was a great help! I have an Elna Club Computer that will not stop running when the pedal is connected. I've read that this might be an "interference capacitor", do you know how I might disconnect said capacitor?

    • @AbsoluteSewing
      @AbsoluteSewing  9 ปีที่แล้ว

      DumbledoreDies 9:39 in the video you'll see a orange component "interference capacitor", clip one of the legs and that should do the trick. You can always test it with a multimeter for a dead short. It could also be wires touching inside the cord.

    • @dumbledoredies6072
      @dumbledoredies6072 9 ปีที่แล้ว

      Absolute Sewing Oh wow, I expected it to be in the machine itself. I guess I'll take the pedal apart again!

    Mines works sometimes then other times it doesn't work...... Now it's only working by been sat on the table.... And sometimes runs on it own........ Would cutting that little but work for mine? Thanks in advance

      You need to replace the cord or cut the bad bit out. You can get a new stereo connection and replace the old one. The cord normally gets damaged where it plugs into the machine.

    can you pls show how to fix boobin not pick up..from another brand there said tension problem..i have no manual book...so I don't know how to tight all lose tention.. thanks so much ...I love Elna 7000...by the way your video so helpful..

    • @AbsoluteSewing
      @AbsoluteSewing  10 ปีที่แล้ว

      Make sure your needle is in correct. Top tension is on 5. Make sure your bottom and top tension is not blocked up with cotton. You can also clean your bobbin case and hook unit. If the point of your hook is passing below your needle eye then your timing is out. There is a little plastic grip on the lower shaft that cracks and the timing will go out. You can repair it and set the timing and it will be as good as new. If you think that is the problem, let me know and I'll try and get together a video on that repair.

      What did you set, You can ask a question at www.sewingnz.org/questions/ and maybe add a picture. I can go into more detail there.

    Is the capacitor at foot control removed fot some reason?

    • @cateye45
      @cateye45 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      I know he said the capacitor can be removed without any problem, but ...
      I believe that on the Elna 8000, it is in there to allow slow speed startup of the machine. The capacitor in my wife's machine was causing the "running continuously" problem, but with it removed the machine has little speed control, ramping up to full speed too quickly, and not giving that fine control of low speeds. Just a warning ... I am going to find a replace capacitor if I can.

    • @Dogsandsewon
      @Dogsandsewon 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      I removed mine because it was running by itself. In the UK they had to be inserted to prevent interference with TV and radios. Not relevant now and mainly just a nuisance as they age. My machine now runs perfectly, has not affected speed control at all.

    My Wife has 6003 elna computer sewing machine, the machine beep when you press the foot control, can the computer be reset? or can you tell me how to get it to work?

    • @AbsoluteSewing
      @AbsoluteSewing  10 ปีที่แล้ว

      Are you getting an error codes on the screen? It could be one of the censors sticking, The bobbin winder or even the pressure bar switch. Does the machine still turn easily, could be running dry.
