That Mary Travers puts her beautiful heart into it, emanates love and joy and sings like an angel. Such a touching song beautifully presented by all four artists. Thank you.
I saw PP&M at least 25 times from the mid 60'S on to 2007 they were like fine wine. you have to trust your band mates to carry that harmony. Real natural harmony
She Was Eye Candy I got her to Smile Only then I imagined her lips on mine Told her she was Eye Candy in my style Like fine Wine She too took her time Kiss was sweeter than wine it took awhile
Although my parents never played PP&M to me, they did play many of their tapes on long car journeys. As a result I grew up listening to the likes of Kate Bush, ABBA, Super Tramp, Don McLean etc - and spend most of my time looking back for more music, rather than seeking out the latest "hit". Exposure is what would benefit the "young" - you can't love what you've never heard. Pass on your love, don't leave it to TH-cam ;)
Never was a big fan of Andy Williams but that boy could sing. He and his brothers had great harmonies. They were a big influence on Jazz vocals into the 70s and 80s with groups like Manhattan Transfer and Rare Silk. The story here in Cincinnati was that they would be dismissed from school to perform at WLW and then once that was over taken back to class. Even then they were doing things different than Glen Miller's Mountaineers, et al., and did the kinds of harmonies like the Four Freshman and the Letter Men would do in the 1950s. The ladder two groups were a big influence on a lot of folk groups that followed. He had a bigger impact on music than I realized from watching this and the ones "yootami" posted. His style is Jazz but he is pretty amazing and he has a good ear for harmony. Thanks for the post.
Mary Travers. Absolute CLASS. She had a voice that threatened to come in and blast you away at will. Up there with Judith Durham, Patsy Cline Barbra Streisand and Christina Aguilera (yes....thats what I said)
You know groups have got it right when they all strive to be one voice when not sing solo or duet; not one tries to make their voice stand out. Panatonix are masters at this.
PS: (RIP) TO THE LATE MARY TRAVERS & ANDY WILLIAMS, LUCKILY THEIR PAST MUSICAL WORK IS PRESERVED ON CD & THE INTERNET FOR FUTURE GENERATIONS TO ENJOY. A TRUE EXAMPLE OF GREAT HARMONIES IN ACTION, SIMILAR TO THE CARPENTERS SOUND OF THE 1970'S. THANKS FOR THE MEMORIES!
She Was Eye Candy I got her to Smile Only then I imagined her lips on mine Told her she was Eye Candy in my style Like fine Wine She too took her time Kiss was sweeter than wine it took awhile
Asked for a date she didn't decline Her kisses were sweeter than wine She was Special better than fine With a ring I asked her to be mine For forty years Now life is divine Brave an Bold Glad I had the Spine
When I was a young man and never been kissed I got to thinking it over what I had missed. I got me a girl, I kissed her and then Oh lord, I kissed her again. Oh, kisses sweeter than wine, Oh, kisses sweeter than wine I asked her to marry and be my sweet wife, And we would be so happy the rest of our lives. I begged and I pleaded like a natural man, And then, oh lord, she gave me her hand. I worked mighty hard and so did my wife, Workin' hand in hand to make a good life. With corn in the field and wheat in the bins, I was, oh lord, the father of twins. Our children they numbered just about four, They all had sweethearts knockin' at the door. They all got married and they didn't hesitate; I was, oh lord, the grandmother of eight. Now that we're old, and ready to go, We get to thinkin' what happened a long time ago. We had a lot of kids, trouble and pain, But, oh lord, we'd do it again. I worked mighty hard and so did my wife, Workin' hand in hand to make a good life. As much as I liked Peter, Paul, and Mary, this is so terribly dreary in comparison to Jimmie Rodgers version from 1957. Not a thumbs down, but definitely look elsewhere.
That Mary Travers puts her beautiful heart into it, emanates love and joy and sings like an angel. Such a touching song beautifully presented by all four artists. Thank you.
What a gift all of them were to the world.
Love your comment
Wonderful memories of my youth. Love Peter Paul and Mary.
I'm so lucky to have lived in a time of music like this.
me too!!!!!!
Me Three!! :-))
yep, brilliant..
Truly.. Were so blessed.
I was thinking that too.
What wonderful music created by 2 guitars and 4 remarkable voices. A sound that may never again be surpassed.
I just love what Mary does with the harmony in the chorus.
Mary Travers is absolutely brilliant!
Wonderful memories of watching "The Andy Williams Show".
This song is one of my favorites by its original singer, Jimmy Rodgers
De acordo, a versão do Jimmy Rodgers é muito superior
All brilliant singers and songs.. thank you
PPM seamlessly fit AW into their harmonies.. no one dominates all in sync. True musical talent.

Magnificent voices.
You know that you're a true singer when you can hit that major harmony in the chorus after a long sequence of minor chords... Just mind blowing
Picardy thirrd! Love it
She Was Eye Candy I got her to Smile
Only then I imagined her lips on mine
Told her she was Eye Candy in my style
Like fine Wine She too took her time
Kiss was sweeter than wine it took awhile
these were great times for folk music !
P. S ISN'T Mary so beautiful and talented. R.I.P
OMG!!! The more I play this the more I LOVE it!!!! October 2018
The best version of this song....
Wonderful, sad that many of the young never have the taste to appreciate this gem.

Our music, not theirs, but many listen.

Real artistry and incredible professionalism, as close to perfection as you'll ever hear.
Que mujer más alegre Mary, el manejo de su voz, su tono, femineidad, fuistes un ángel acá en la tierra…
Beautiful harmony singing
Fabulous harmony! 💋
Hello friend, how're you doing today?
PP&M three cool cats whose harmony is in a league of it's own. thank you Peter Noel Paul and our Mary in the Heavens
That's so lovely
Peter, Paul, Mary and Andy,.. you are sorely missed. 😥
Yes I I agree
Paul and Peter are still alive!
@@RhiannaBarr Yes, but they don't sing.
@@fredflintstone1109Yeah they do. The Peter and Paul tours are listed on their website.
Rất hay & giọng hát thiết tha...! Thật tuyệt !
Dare I say, Andy at his very best.
Nice.😊
Beautiful
This song was a MUCH better fit for Andy's voice with the three than the other one the four of them sang -- Don't Think Twice It's Alright.

I agree, but I’ll ad Olivia Newton John.
Used to so like Andy Williams, this is great music.
❤
listen to Mary's for 40 so beautiful. rip mary
Just a wonderful girl with the boys
I saw them in their day
And for 45 years.
You know groups have got it right when they all strive to be one voice when not sing solo or duet; not one tries to make their voice stand out. Panatonix are masters at this.
I miss Mary Travers and Andy Williams
Love it all, but Mary blows the boys out of the water!
mary travers was such a babe!!
Her hair looks. Fake.
@@arnoldstollar5375 Yeah, you must have hit the mute button by mistake to miss the point so horribly.
I second the motion!
Wunderbar.
Got to get Andy the college professor beard.

She Was Eye Candy I got her to Smile

What a great arrangement of this song. I have always loved the Jimmie Rogers version but think this is better
Na
fantastisch
❤️❤️❤️
👏👏👏
that s the America that was worth living in, not the shit they have nowadays
the abc of how to live a life.
My wife has kisses sweeter than wine. Of course, she always enjoys a glass of wine just before bed.
Asked for a date she didn't decline
Her kisses were sweeter than wine
She was Special better than fine
With a ring I asked her to be mine
For forty years Now life is divine
Brave an Bold Glad I had the Spine
When I was a young man and never been kissed
I got to thinking it over what I had missed.
I got me a girl, I kissed her and then
Oh lord, I kissed her again.
Oh, kisses sweeter than wine,
Oh, kisses sweeter than wine
I asked her to marry and be my sweet wife,
And we would be so happy the rest of our lives.
I begged and I pleaded like a natural man,
And then, oh lord, she gave me her hand.
I worked mighty hard and so did my wife,
Workin' hand in hand to make a good life.
With corn in the field and wheat in the bins,
I was, oh lord, the father of twins.
Our children they numbered just about four,
They all had sweethearts knockin' at the door.
They all got married and they didn't hesitate;
I was, oh lord, the grandmother of eight.
Now that we're old, and ready to go,
We get to thinkin' what happened a long time ago.
We had a lot of kids, trouble and pain,
But, oh lord, we'd do it again.
I worked mighty hard and so did my wife,
Workin' hand in hand to make a good life.
With corn in the field and wheat in the bins,
I was, oh lord, the father of twins.
💟💟💟💟💟💟
Look carefully, Andy is reading the words, with the excepion of the chorus
And?
Asked for a date she didn't decline
Her kisses were sweeter than wine
She was Special better than fine
With a ring I asked her to be mine
For forty years Now life is divine
Brave an Bold Glad I had the Spine
👍🔔❤👏👏👉
Usually, Andy’s eyes are shining, but in this video looks like tired
August 1967 ?
Note the lyrics on taped to the boy's guitars. I did that.
When you hear the crap music that is so-called popular today and makes money, one longs for this kind of a sound again for eternity!
Weren’t they good though?!
Such great energy. Their albums and in
Concert wove a tapestry of great harmony
The best trio. Cool and compassionate with that harmony
This song is an assault on the ears 😢

Pete Seeger did a nice version on a live album...
