My apologies and no disrespect to Ireland (top world team joint with SA, as of today), but this time they really got away with it.
1) Conor Murray was in front of Stockdale when the latter kicked the ball
2) Jack Ryan clearly pulled the Samoan lock's hand, and otherwise the fellow would have never missed his catch
OK, Samoa had their good piece of luck with the "face-intercept", but Wayne Barnes should check back the 1+2 dynamics - he's the most respected referee in the world for a reason.
Not bad from Samoa, they're definitely looking good for their pool and I don't blame the Frenchies and neutrals there who were rooting for them

The lineout was interrupted by the Irish man pulling down the hand of the Samoan at 9:30. Use frame by frame to see it. Should have been a penalty.
Also, with Samoa on the Irish line at 46mins, Ireland penalised under the posts and WB immediately blows up rather than playing advantage. I think a try was coming, and with constant infringements, perhaps a YC? Samoa did brilliantly and I'm giving them a draw. As an English fan, I am worried. Very, very worried.
Our South Pacific Nations have something to actually fight for. They are poor, they are superbly talented and more Power to them. As a Kiwi in Inverness, I think they're the most exciting teams to watch come WC.

Great effort Manu Samoa just failing to secure possession in the lineout and knocking the ball out over the line could had been embarrassing for Ireland they can't be happy with that result coming of an easy win against England who wouldn't adapt to the cross field kick, and continued to stay with their short line of defence made it too easy for Ireland. Suddenly South Africa coming of their impressive demolition of my team the All Blacks, have a point to prove since their lost to Ireland last year in pool B at the 2023 RWC. Ireland need to improve big time, that not a RWC Champion performance. just my opinion, The All Blacks are in a similar position they have France 1st Opening RWC match. I think they can bounce back as can Ireland improve their performance.

This game could have been a draw if our boys had taken the scrum at 6:25 instead of kicking the penalty. In situations like that, you cannot miss such an opportunity, especially when we are inside the 5-metre line and our advantage is already established. That chance could have made a big impact on our game towards the end. Our management must review this and not overlook it for the sake of our future games. Well done, usos. Better luck next time. Considering Ireland were missing Johnny Sexton, Andrew Porter, Dan Sheehan, Tadhg Furlong, Jamison Gibson-Park, James Lowe, Hugo Keenan, Bundee Aki, Keith Earls, Jack Conan, Rónan Kelleher & Dave Kilcoyne, it was a pretty good result against a terrific & very stubborn Samoa side. Great exposure & experience for Jack Crowley at outhalf up against Lima Sopoaga, who’s a very good outhalf in his own right. Good to see variation with big Ryan Baird at number 6. He’s ridiculously fast and athletic for his size. Apparently he’s the fastest player in the entire Irish set up. Up there with Mack Hansen supposedly. That’s insane! I believe he used to be a winger when he was in his teenage years.

@@JaemanEdwards Not at all. Conor Murray is one of the best & most experienced scrum halves in the world. Jimmy O’Brien could easily replace James Lowe the rate he’s going. He’s been phenomenal. Such a classy footballer. And Robbie Henshaw & Garry Ringrose is our starting centre partnership. Stuart McCloskey is as good if not better than Bundee Aki at the moment.

The reason Ireland always perform so bad in world cups is because we lack depth. Every time we beat a big team like France, our team is so shattered that we cant compete against Argentina.
Although is Samoa is a fantastic, fast and exciting rugby team, I truly believed we could beat them easily without Sexton. I thought we had finally built up enough depth to compete in a world cup. But we lost to Samoa.
The last time we played Scotland, we won but lost 6 players. Every time we play france, we lose a similar amount of players. South Africa play a slow game and let their massive guys do the heavy lifting. We will no doubt lose payers there.
I think we cam beat Scotland, New Zealand, France and possibly South Africa on a once off match. But when its a marathon, one after the other, we dont have enough depth to compete with the latter four of those teams.
Tldr: the quater final curse will be here for another four years.

The whole stadium almost ended up supporting Somoa, they were the underdog and showed a lot of heart. The crowed latched on to this and we’re disappointed when they couldn’t get over the line.
