  • Watching Parliament made easy! My Africa Brings you all the scenes you really want to watch!
    Newsworthy, interesting and the funny parts MINUS the boring rest of a long Parliament sitting.
    Parliament of South Africa - “To represent the people, and to ensure government by the people in fulfilling our constitutional functions of passing laws and overseeing executive action”. Watch EFF lady MP's turning the Debate on Vote 28: Labour into chaos. *****
    The Constitution affords all South Africans the right to see and hear what happens in Parliament.
    For the last 7 years and for the benefit of subscribers and the community “My Africa” search for sequences that are newsworthy, interesting, funny etc. From a, sometimes long and boring, Parliament sitting allowing the community the opportunity to choose which sequence they find interesting and want to watch.
    As a result “My Africa” adds significant value to those effected by the exceptionally high cost of Data and Pay TV.
    Also “My Africa” allows the community to comment and contribute to discussions in a meaningful manner and take stories forward.
    However, we will NOT condone the following:
    Racism (including offensive comments based on ethnicity and nationality)
    Sexism
    Homophobia
    Religious intolerance
    Cyber bullying
    Hate speech
    Derogatory language
    Comments inciting violence.
    We strive to make the TH-cam community a safe and welcoming space for all.

      You must remember ANC are puppet they do not fully represent blacks as a whole in South Africa. If they did we wouldn't have all these other counter black parties.
      Why I say this? ANC does not prioritize black rights they have been romanticizing black people's needs for the past 25 years and engaging in corruption instead.

    I think that there should be interpretation for every language. I don’t understand Afrikaans or Xhosa or Zulu. There should definitely be a problem there. There should 100% be a translator who does stuff properly with all languages. I literally don’t understand half of this video. I’m just lost. EFF isn’t wrong in their first idea they’re putting across. From what I heard them say in English. I don’t know what else they said but to be honest, there definitely needs to be a proper balance here. Of course they take it a bit too far but I mean even if they’re the competition party to what I believe, I don’t have a problem with giving them their respect as a party and language requests.
    If there’s an inefficiency problem with the translation it does need to be dealt with quickly.
    I do wish the video had subtitles though. It’s just like. Eh? What’s even being said.

      @nalankosi 5 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@stadleroux the best way to alleviate the challenge of insufficient availability of interpreters is one common language. Because as citizens we demand immediate availability of all 11 languages in all 9 provinces. All official documents must immediately be available in all 11 languages in all 9 provinces. Official signs such as road and office signs in all 11 languages in all 9 provinces.

    • @stadleroux
      @stadleroux 5 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@nalankosi, I know that's the policy in some other African countries, but even there practice doesn't always follow theory. There are many people in Namibia, for instance, who still don't understand a word of English.
      I believe we need a balance between all 11 languages and only English, but it's not an easy target to hit and it won't always be the same target. It could even be a moving target, because language usage is never static. Nationally I believe all 11 languages should be recognised and actively promoted, and they are in Parliament as a rule, but it's not practical or even necessary to have facilities for all 11 in all nine provinces, as not all of them are spoken in all nine provinces.
      With technology and the right kind of infrastructure the odd person speaking only a language "foreign" to one province could very easily be accommodated by remote linkage to another province where that language is commonly spoken. There's the fourth industrial revolution for you! ;-)

    • @nalankosi
      @nalankosi 5 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@stadleroux I believe achieving balance between 11 languages can only happen if everyone speaks all 11 languages. However in situations like SA, 11 languages is a hopeful illusion that often leads to a few languages being dominant (Afrikaans & English) which means nothing has changed from the apartheid regime. In SA we need to agree on 1 business language and people can speak all other languages at home or with their friends.

    • @stadleroux
      @stadleroux 5 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@nalankosi, hmmm, no, I was referring to a balance between the unrealistic ideal of all 11 languages being treated absolutely equal everywhere in the country and the expediency, for those who can speak it, and financial sense of only having English as an official language. There are too many people who don't and never will speak English. I can't blame Ms Khawla for not being able to speak English, she probably never had enough exposure to it when growing up.
      I do blame the politicians for not having the political will to budget for and promote the development of languages. Every year in the debate on the Arts & Culture budget they repeat the same old stories about how important the development of languages is and then nothing happens. Politicians have a lot to say about many things, but in general they don't get a lot done...

Set up a system as in the European Parliament whereby using earphones the members can hear a simultaneous translation into their own language. The Zulu EFF person who has no understanding of the English Language or Afrikaans Language can then easily be facilitated.
