I was burned on over 40% of my body in 1985. After an extensive skin graft surgery, the nurses gave me several beach baths (during which they searched and removed staples from my new grafted areas 😖) to combat infections. I was only 6 years old at the time but thought it was interesting. 👍🏾

soli Sanchez I always say that. Also, when someone says “god has blessed me”
Or “god provided for us.” My question is, god couldn’t provide for the kid being brutalized by junkie parents or pedophiles? Why did “he” chose to bless YOU?

soli Sanchez - I wondered the same thing myself… Especially when I started dating... until I realized that the burns caused people to either judge me and feel sorry for me or be curious to get to know me, my heart. I ended up attracting some of the most beautiful (inside and out) people to me. God works all things together for our good. I am truly living that out in my life.

My doc suggested this for eczema and I was shocked. But I tried it and it 100% works. It stops the spreading and the incontrolable itching and then your body can heal bc you’re not scratching it open again.

I've been doing this during my pedicures once a week or every two weeks. It's good, because I just throw in my nail tools in the bleach water and they get disinfected too. My feet are normally dry and do not smell, but those who suffer from foot odor would benefit greatly from soaking their feet in bleach water. Make sure you apply vaseline or better yet kerasal afterwards and put on some cotton socks.

This video saved me. Every spring I get a rash on my arms for about a month and a half after going into the sun after winter. This time the rash stayed and nothing I did was helping. I was making an appointment with the dermatologist but I saw this video and took a bleach bath on Sunday. It's Friday now and the rash is completely gone. The skin still needs to heal and I will have lighter splotches of skin until it evens out but the irritation and redness are gone and the bumpiness is going away. All it took was one 8 minute bleach bath.

As a dental hygienist this is not at all shocking to me. In fact, early on during my education and career, I learned to recommend a diluted bleach water mouthwash (sodium hypochlorite) to my patients with aggressive types of periodontal disease. There is a lot of research out there about it eliminating those aggressive periodontal pathogens. So it makes sense for the skin too.

I love how people jump to conclusions when it comes to bleach baths. Most people don't realize bleach is non carcinogenic and automatically think you are crazy if you bathe in it. I have been doing it for years and it really helped me with my jock itch (yeast infection) when I play football...for some reason the sweat and the spandex caused it to grow very bad and it itched so bad I was breaking the skin. I started bleach baths and it cleared it up fast. I will admit I dunk my head under the water multiple times because I believe it has slowed the aging process to some extent and I want that on my face lol but I rinse thouroughly. I use 1 full cup in my bath but I suggest taking the Dr.'s recommendation and use 1/2 cup. So yes, it works great, I highly recommend it, it keeps you fresher down there longer and keeps your skin looking nice and fresh.

I actually did not even know this was a thing. I have always struggled with extremely bad eczema. Literally it always feels like my entire body is always so so so itchy. My hands are usually the worst. One day I was cleaning and Made a bleach water solution. I had been struggling severely that day but was determined to push through it. Almost instantaneously upon dipping my hands into the water too wet rag I felt instant relief! I cannot believe cleaning with bleach could be so soothing. I later talk to my mom about it and we did some research and apparently this really works. Can’t wait to take my first bleach bath.

I've been thinking about exactly this! I was once told that a bleach bath could reset your skin microbiome if you're concerned about potentially dangerous colonies on your skin that could cause cellulitis or other problems. But it seems risky in and of itself. Thanks for sharing your thoughts!
One question: What are your tips to prevent these infections for cellulitis around the face and head (eye, ear, etc)? Is normal cleansing and moisturizing sufficient even if you have colonies of staph?

The first time I ever heard of a bleach bath was when I was a probation officer. I remember one of my probationers telling me how she took bleach baths. I was seriously concerned about self-harm but after doing some research, I learned it was something that can be recommended for the skin conditions you mentioned in this video. However, she did not report any such skin conditions. Not exactly sure why she did those but I do remember thinking it was unusual. I have a patch of eczema on my knee and *might* consider this. Hi Dr. Dray, I love your videos! Would you consider doing a video on protein overload of the hair? I've heard stylists talk endlessly about how using too many products with protein can make the hair damaged and limp, but I am having a hard time finding scientific sources on this! I have bleach-damaged hair and (aside from no longer bleaching), I've been using products with keratin in it---I'm hoping I'm not doing something to make the state of my hair worse.
