The chlorates or "chloramines" are generated by the nasty stuff like sweat, shit, piss, dead skin (fucking hope it's dead anyway and not some large piece of skin crawling around like a spare prop from filming The Blob, right!?) etc that is in the pool. These substances are changed by the chlorine (the Nitrogen - Hydrogen molecules become Nitrogen - Chlorine molecules) and this is what gives the distinctive smell. Chlorine is odourless, when it is which is why it worked well as a tactic of gas warfare.

The bigger concern is going to be the chemical corrosive effect on the seals, bushings, o rings etc...as well as to the cylinder walls. Damaging a fuel line is the least of the problems. Although with all of the environmental technology on vehicles for pollution control, it would probably definitely have an affect on that too. As the computer would read an improper mixture of fuel in the engine. It might shut it down before more significant damage can occur. But then too, you never know when a small part that the average person doesn’t even know what is is, costs 100’s of dollars. You’re really just better off not making your car drink bleach. Lol And don’t eat tide pods. A good rule of thumb is that if it is a cleaning product, it’s probably not meant for human or automobile consumption.

The reason it still runs is because, though Bleach is not combustible, it is an oxidizer so it enhances combustion of other things. It's probably enhancing the oil or what's left of the gas and that's why it still runs. I imagine after a while it would start running completely on bleach and fail, but cool video nonetheless.

Somebody else may have already said this, but those were your valves making that rattling sound at the end of your revs. Normally when you hear a car doing that whenever the motor starts to strain slightly, during acceleration before it has a chance to downgear, or often times when starting or going uphill you’ll hear that sound on older vehicles & that means you need to add oil ASAP!
Oh this brings back memories, years ago I was about to take my father-in-law in my truck about 60 miles away to pick up some furniture 100 degree outside I checked all the fluids in my old truck and was shy of coolant, my dad at the time kept jugs of creek water on the porch so I grabbed some without asking and topped off the radiator about a gallon and on my way I went, less then halfway to my destination the old 300ci starts steaming and temp is pegged to the right, stopped many times to and from that day to let her cool, when I got home dad asked if I had seen his 1/2 chlorine solution....at that point I knew I Fu**ed up, that crap destroyed my waterpump, radiator, heater core, and headgasket, lucky for me it's an old Ford 300 and cost about 350 then for me to fix all that

To explain how this is possible and how you see "the bleach fuel the car".. depending on how long the low fuel light was on for, the car was still running on mostly gas, depending on the cars mile per gallon of course, once that low fuel light turns on, you could still have about 20 miles of gas left in your tank.

I've been doing this for years ! No better way to clean your engines fuel system ! I also add my secret ingredient , pee ! Yes , I first piss in the tank , them add 5 gallons of bleach , some lye for good measure , and synthetic oil. ! Works like a charm every time !
