just a question.. the teacher said "i'm not wanting to cheer up..." i was sure that i couldn't use the gerund .ing with the verb "want"... so, was i totally wrong??

This is non-standard English.
You are right that 'want' doesn't usually take the -ing form.

"Belong", "want", and "mind" are some of them.
