He inspires people. Lots of people. And any animals who can hear the music at an intensity that does not scare them. Probably some insects, too. Certainly some trees and other plants that we know respond to music. His music inspires life.

When I started my career in the world of bands and fanfares here in Brazil, at the age of seven, which for Americans are the Brass Bands, my bedside record was "By Request: The Best Of John Williams And The Boston Pops Orchestra ". However, there was no Summon the Heroes on this album, which I came to know a while later and I fell in love with this composition, especially with the trumpet solo performed by the legendary Tim Morrison. What a wonderful sound, what timbre, what a beautiful sound, I was extremely impacted and thought "Ok ... This is my sound goal!". Then, I became conductor of musical corporations and John Williams, through my conductor / teacher Marco Antônio Rodrigues, was my reference of how a band, or a fanfare, should sound, because for him (Marco Antônio) John Williams was "The Master ", and the Boston Pops Orchestra was " The Ensemble ". And here I am, thirty-nine years later thanking you, John Williams And The Boston Pops Orchestra, for being my references for good music, thank you! Thank you very much for being those lighthouses that illuminated my entire musical history. Thanks again, and long live John Williams And The Boston Pops Orchestra!

I remember being 15-years-old and I was up visiting my family in Massachusetts. We went to the Esplanade that Fourth of July--40 yrs ago and I sooo desperately wanted to see John Williams but I couldn't see him. I told mom I'd be right back and she said 'Don't you dare leave-I'll never be able to find you in this crowd!" I adore the man and his musical genius!

I have heard this played before but not as beautifully. Of all the heroes mentioned nurses are the ones that pop into my mind the most. They spend the most time with patients and put themselves at the most risk. My grandmother was a nurse. I have a photo of her taking care of patients in a field hospital set up at her nursing school. It was September 1918. 675,000 died from that pandemic 102 years ago. That is more than eight times the number of COVID 19 deaths at a time when the population was a third of what it is today. I never fully appreciated her role in that time until COVID 19 hit us. Her mother was a nurse and a midwife and her grandmother was a nurse during the civil war who went to battlefields to tend to the wounded with bullets flying around her in every direction. Today's nurses remind me of that. They are on a battlefield and despite the silent invisible bullets flying around them in all directions they persevere, caring for patients often being the last person the patients see or speak to. Many of these nurses have been hit by those silent invisible bullets and have died. They are all aware of the danger yet they persevere. They don't give up. They keep taking care of the sick knowing that at any moment one of those invisible silent bullets will hit them and take their life. If that isn't a hero I don't know what is. I would propose that our government create a system of honoring all our civilian heroes similar to what the UK does presenting them with medals for their various deeds.
This is a beautiful tribute to our heroes. Thank you all who participated. The music was wonderful and the editing was amazing. I don't think many people would understand just how challenging it is to put together something like this and getting the sound synched up so perfectly. Thank you John Williams for creating such a masterpiece. My mother and I attended his last fourth of July concert in Boston. That was the last concert my mother ever attended as she became ill a few weeks later. My uncle played the violin for Arthur Fiedler in the 1940's and 1950's. My mother's first concert was one my uncle played in 1958. She was a life long fan and I was grateful to have inherited my mother's vast collection of Pop's albums. Williams has always been my favorite American composer and I was so glad to see his message at the beginning.

Dare I say... this is a thrilling way to hear and see such a moving work. The ability to see the individual musicians, coming together from their own homes, brings an immediacy that we don't even get from a "group" live performance. I don't know how they did it, but it stirred my soul! Great video and sound editing - thanks for the technical and musical wizardry.

I have been a fan of Boston Pops since I was in the US back in 90s, In my mind, the music from John Williams and the team best represent the American spirit that stands for inspiration and hope for the nation. This is the first time I see this tremendous coordination and I can have a chance to look at the faces of all members while performing. Please keep going and you are the greatest to motivate the Americans and the world in this challenging time.

John Williams and the Boston Pops were a huge part of my childhood. I never saw them nor did I come close to seeing them, but I had recordings of film scores on a CD and they made up a bunch of the tracks. I had it on repeat until the CD player eventually died lol. I’ve finally tracked down all of the specific recordings (legally paid for this time) and can enjoy them in original quality on my grown up audio system. This specific video takes me back to my childhood all over, enamored and in awe, and this time a lot more in tune with its message. Beautifully done. This production was so well put together!

Simply awesome! John Williams is renowned for his many film scores, such as Star Wars, Superman, Jurassic Park...etc. In fact, he is one of my favorite composers. Had a rare opportunity to meet him once at a tribute event in his honor, at Los Angeles City College. Williams is also known for having composed several themes for the Olympic Games: 1984, 1988, and, this 1996 anthem. My favorite is "Olympic Spirit." That one just reverberates with the energy, pulse, and spectacle that embodies the Olympic Games. Sadly, there won't be the Games in Tokyo this year. However, great to hear "Summon the Heroes" being performed and not at a concert hall, but in the homes of the orchestra performers! It is definitely one for posterity and the history books. We certainly need our heroes during this unprecedented time of need. Let us thank each and everyone of them, at each opportunity that comes our way.

Thank you John , Keith and the entire Orchestra for doing this. Our daughter Rachel is an oncology nurse at Beth Israel Hospital . Extremely difficult work to begin with in so many ways. We are so extremely proud of her for the care and compassion that she extends to each and every one of her patients. Now because of the crisis she and her colleagues have been helping out working in the covid unit when needed. Of course we're concerned for her safety on top of the emotional strain we worry about with her working in oncology. Our daughter and all of the professionals dealing with this have been thrust into unwanted risk and have showed my wife , myself and the entire world they will not back down in the face of danger. We are grateful. I hope that everyone working as a Nurse, Doctor, Cashier, Delivery worker, Postal , EMT's , Fire ,Police ,and all other front line workers get a chance to watch this motivating performance and that it brings you as much joy , peace and pride as it did to me. Thank and bless you all .

I've had the pleasure of hearing this piece of music any number of times as part of my John Williams music collection, but this was something truly special. The sentiment for which it was played this time was so wonderful, and the feeling I feel about its performance can be summed up in a word... glorious. Thank you Boston Pops for your wonderful efforts in presenting this to the world. Words fall short when it comes to showing others that they are appreciated, but music such as this relates the emotion that so many feel for those who show their heroism by helping others at risk of their own mortality.

Fantastic performance! Despite the acoustic not being ideal for reasons known to all, the togetherness achieved is unbelievable!! I think that's the best version I've ever heard of that piece!! Congrats to the Boston Pops!!
