12" on center is much more solid. Composite deck will bend and make noises as you walk across.

I make the job last a bit longer use the same waterproof tape used on the support beams and put it on the 2x8 deck supports as well.

Can I install composite board over plywood floor ? I have a deck roof over for rain away. Thanks

I've done that on an old covered porch. Make sure you paint/seal the plywood very well before laying the decking over it as water will make it curl and rot over a short time, if you don't.

Worst idea ever. The plywood will eventually rot away but the composite decking will still be good to go for decades.
