When I was converting my home to all-electric appliances last year, I replaced my Natural Gas water heater with a heat-pump water heater. I went with this appliance because it offered side-benefits aside from low energy cost. I didn’t have the heat-pump water heater vented to the outside because it only expels cool/ cold air. Some people may not want to have that colder air in their living space, but since my water heater is in the basement, I wanted to keep that cold air exhaust within the space since my DeltaPro battery bank is also in that space. The cold air exhaust cools the DeltaPros and the hot air expelled by the DeltaPros is used by the water heater to heat the water. During my researching of the heat-pump water heater, I’ve watched other homeowners, on TH-cam, place that water heater in garages (places like Florida). They commented that this type of water heater reduced the humidity levels and temperatures of the space. If you are seriously averse to cooler temperatures, be aware that your Winter months will also induce a cooler garage. An option if your water heater is in your garage and it’s due to be replaced.
