Most whom do that course end up leaving to find employment as there is minimal opportunity in wangas.

It is spelt "WANGANUI" without an "H". see where you went wrong now? ... you're welcome.

@William Nicholson nope. "h" in the local dialect is silent. maori didn't have a written language. town had a discussion on spelling at the start and decided no "h". the city was settled by english immigrants, and it was advertised as wanganui. that's the way it is spelt. anyone who wants different spelling should start their own town.

@William Nicholson one idiot minister, who infiltrated the wrong party & didn't know if he was arthur or marther, said he couldn't make up his mind - so, against the wishes of Wanganui's residents and mayor, made it possible for both spellings to be used. The spelling selected by the residents, both at time of township settling, and at surveys 170 years later, show the correct spelling is Wanganui - without a stupid "h".

You mean just like Whakatane is wok-a-tarnay instead fock-a-tarnay?

I once meet Jeremy Wells and his advise was to get out of the shithole even if it's the last thing I ever did. Took your advice Jeremy , best move ever.
    Wanganui is a dive.
I now earn over $15p/h more for doing the same job elsewhere.
You may be able to buy a house for 200k but you'll probably have a huge drop in your income as well, not to mention you will most likely have gangs in your neighborhood.
With the corrections department being the largest employer and a city council that never solves issues or spends money on anything important I see minimal future in the town of wanganui.
It's a place to retire and die.
