- The Sweet Heaven Kings, an exhilarating brass ensemble, is made up of members of the United House of Prayer for All People in the Anacostia community of Washington, D.C. The group delivered this unforgettable performance at the 2012 Smithsonian Folklife Festival, building from solo trombone to a tumult of brass.
This presentation was part of the Rinzler Memorial Concert, which honored the work of folklorist, cultural worker, and activist Worth Long.

Continue to REST IN HEAVENLY PEACE LIL NEFF...
Coming from the house of prayer you know that the bands played a big part in the spiritual up lift of the soul. After you heard a good word that touch your spirit the band comes along and just pounds that word right into your heart, you let go and let the Holy Ghost just have its way. Before you know it the Holy Ghost has engulfed you, lifted you up and you begin the spiritual ride of speaking in tongues and hearing the Devine voice of our Lord and savoir Jesus Christ. What an experience... know it for yourself!

that turned out very nice. Thans again FolkLife conducters for inviting us. Lord's willing hope to see you all next year.
I can't get enough of UHOP's music, I am saddened by the passing of the band's leader.
I hope you enjoy this 1997 performance by Edward Babb and his band from the United House of Prayer in Harlem, which I just uploaded:

I love how Butch is lead around the melody, his style of phrasing singin on his horn...
He is my favorit including his son, lead horns of Sounds of Zion and Lively Stones.
But Butchs family sing with horns with so much of sense...
Such a good and poweful music. Unfortunately there is no UHOP in Germany. Where can I buy CDs or MP3s ???
You can go on Amazon and purchase Saints Paradise album.
There is not so much recorded of this music...
There is also Kenneth Carr who made a wonderful career out of his horn too, The Tigers, Lively Stones...
EF ART what’s your address I’ll send you some cds.
