Played Baldur's Gate 1 as a kid, transfered my character to Baldur's Gate 2 when it came out, and then to Throne of Bhaal when that came out. I went through the entire saga, experiencing all it's wonderful quests, adventures and stories, and meeting all its wonderful characters, monsters and villains. From fighting gibberlings outside of the Friendly Arm Inn, to fighting demigods in the Throne of Bhaal, this game will always have a special place in my heart, this game was my childhood
+Mangs I really appreciated the exploration in that saga, the unknown surprises & the exotism made it almost tangible, how vivid the whole world was described and shown.
It's a special game. No matter how hard they might try, (if they even try, at this point) but no one will ever top its narrative and sense of accomplishment after going all the way from your humble beginnings at Candlekeep to choosing between remaining a mortal or becoming a God and leaving all those you cared about behind. The recent "remastered" edition was a farce and a travesty, with retarded voice acting, terrible new quests and don't even get me started with the Siege of Dragonspear disgusting "expansion". You can't remaster a MASTERPIECE.
Irenicus just goes to show... If you chop an elf's ears off and staple his face to...whatever the fuck that thing is...he can pass for human. Ok, I forgot what my original point was.
+Mike Zilla I think he's wearing a mask, doesn't he ? Magicaly animated mask nevertheless, hence his face animation. Or maybe I just tend to mix up what I learnt from modules about Joneleth. "The Longer Road" IIRC, good one. Fucking good one, for ToB though. Allows ye to pick up Irenicus in yer party at the start o' the game. Comes with a price, that is :P
Kind of a big deal that the pc can beat an avatar of a god. This game series should be a movie trilogy. I love how if you do this expansion before ToB some of the NPCs have dialogue pissing their pants at how impossible of a feat you achived.
Gosh, this battle was so damn satisfying. Especially seeing the epilogue, with Irenicus fighting that horde of demons and falling with them into the abyss. Goosebumps!
+Diego S.R Tried Pillars, it's "devoid of life" in my opinion. With horrible combat and uninteresting characters. The lore is subpar, too. As for Beamdog's "Stolen Edition" is basically worse than BGTutu, and that's a free mod. Also, it adds changes to some characters' personality to fit a feminist agenda. Just look at Safana's character, Minsc's remarks against Gamersgate and the "expansion" Siege of Dragonspear - and with the latest patch every characters looks totally retarded with that "cell-shaded thing" all around them. It's like playing a 1994 game.
what a fucking amazing game - you could feel it when you're about to fight him, you see everything he's done throughout the game and you think this is it, he could take everything from you and end your companion's lives in seconds. You really feel like it's all or nothing when your fighting him, and that there's a good chance you can lose it all.
Ah this melody brings nostolgia, back when the games where peices of art. Everything was art work in the old Black isle games.Every item, every map, every page of journal or magic books... everything was so beautiful. The dragons were epic! :D I remember fighting the shadow dragon for the 1st time and having a heart attack. BG II and BG TOB will and always will be in my heart.
I remember when I was a kid, watching my father play it late at night, then trying it out for myself. While I never beat Sarvok, and eventally moved on to more modern games, I always loved this game.
There was a brief time where TH-cam permitted animated GIFs to be used for profile pictures, channel banners and more, but that hasn't been possible for years. However, those who had them at the time could keep them (for a while, at least).
This guy and his story are sooo badasss! R.A SALVATORE must write some books about this guy (child, his relationship with Ellesime-Centeol-Bodhi, how he gain his magical power, the fall when he try to became a god etc.)! It will be so fun!
"You're not going to torture us an longer!" "Torture? Silly girl you just don't understand what i'm doing, do you?" "I don't care what you're doing, let us go!" "I won't let you leave, not when i am so close to unlocking your powers!"
"So we are to battle one last time no more hiding for either of us" I am tired of shouting battle cries when fighting this mage boo will finish his eyeballs so he can not rise again, EVIL MEET MY SWORD SWORD MEET EVIL!
I got fucking wrecked in this battle. I had no idea about D&D mechanics or what kind of preparation I needed at the time. The first game could be brute-forced if need be, but not this one. I did eventually figure out some kind of strategy to drop his defenses and actually kill him but it was so long ago, I have no idea what I did. 🤣
Despite how effortless I find it now; I remember how much I used to hate this final battle; god I cursed each time I lost when I was a kid; it was my ultimate ambition to finally kill him and it was made even worse when I got to him first only for my dad to beat him in his game when he caught up as I actually had gotten further than my dad at the time! Nowadays I see the final battle as pretty straightforward; you can literally just use true sight and completely flatten him in melee.... Though to be fair you learn new tactics with experience. Good times mind :)
Answer to Jon= You don't have your TOB Skills you need Great Strategy and Cunning. Answer to Demogorgon= Have a Theif in your party with a high amount of Set Traps skill and set as many traps as he possibly can so Demogorgon dies as soon as he pops up. It's harder to get to Demogorgon than it is to face him unless your using Mods
It's supposed to be mostly the same to the originals, with minor differences, such as being able to play sub-kits like kensai and inquisitor in the first game, and a few new characters.
Feck this. There are no polish videos on Irenicus. And he had a brilliant voice acting there, I daresay way better than original. Ima make a compilation of all the scenes and dialogues with Irenicus now, and post it here.
Know what you mean... I played polish version first, and english later. And I dare to say that polish dub for Irenicus made him sound even more cold and heartless - if that's even possible.
I do not remember your love, Ellesime. I have tried. I have tried to recreate it, to spark it anew in my memory, but it is gone... a hollow, dead thing. For years, I clung to the memory of it. Then the memory of the memory. And then nothing. I look upon you and feel nothing. I remember nothing but you turning your back on me, along with all the others.
Pfft, Set Traps is for casual gamers and wimps! There's legit ways to beat him, I rush him with my fighters and leave my cleric behind spamming Bolts of Glory much as possible (Amulet of Power helps). Spike Traps is the insta-win button, beating Demogorgon in fair combat is much much more satisfying.

Has anyone noticed that the first few seconds of this theme are sometimes played in episodes of South Park when something bad or shocking happens (I think usually sped up or slowed down)?
yes but he is the prince of demons that could only be sealed by the power of a living god and even then was breaking free, where as jon was simply a powerful wizard seeking the power of the gods for revenge. Which do you think would have been the more logical harder battle =p

It's a work of art, simply breathtaking in its themes and complexity and yet rollicking fun.
So long David Warner, your Jon Irenicus acting was top notch as ever.
"You have less than a fraction of your soul, and yet somehow you CONTINUE to oppose me?!"
You...You have *angered* me. Do you know what that takes?!
ZANT ZELDA AZTEC GOD against John irenicus trying to get rid of the tree of life

"Must I be interrupted at every turn?! Enough of this!"
Sarevok, Irenicus, Amelissan were pur evil badass.

@@TheHalogen131 lol I did the same.
I really want to see a new Baldur's Gate game but... that lore ended in throne of Bhaal :( what a masterpiece of game
helios daedalus There will be a new game coming. It's called Siege of Dragonspear and it is set after Baldur's Gate 1 and before Shadows of Amn!
Well... is something
It comes out this month on the 31st
they need to do remake. but true remake not just bs the called "enhanced edition"
Irenicus is an interesting villain, plus I admire his voice actor. Even when reprising his role as Irenicus in SoD he still sounds the same
Gosh, this battle was so damn satisfying. Especially seeing the epilogue, with Irenicus fighting that horde of demons and falling with them into the abyss. Goosebumps!
Yeah, this game was truly one of a kind. I would like see a new Baldur's Gate, one similar to this. At least a re-mastered version would be nice.

One of the best villains in video gaming.
