Damn. Haven’t got to the rest of the episode yet, but the fatherhood talk gotta be Top 10 discussions in sports podcasting history. Not to many other pods go here.
Damn….This a very candid conversation. This should be shared with others going through these struggles. It’s never too late to discuss and understand various types of trauma. Great interview!
Whole interview is real af but the father conversation was deep. I’m glad you introduced your kid to both father figures in your life. I’m grown now, never met my real grandpa on my dads side but I’m glad to have met the guy who took care of him growing up. Means a lot for a young kid.
Thank you, Dray, for initiating this conversation about fatherhood. I truly appreciate Boggie's openness on the topic. I can't thank both of you enough, as I also had issues with my father after my parents divorced when I was 12. It was a wonderful surprise to hear such deep and meaningful discussions about family relationships from two great basketball players. I really appreciate it.🤘❤👍❤🙏❤🖖
Damn, I didn't expect that from Dray. I had the exact same situation to the T with having a father and then meeting your real father as a teen. It's impressive to see black men discuss these issues that so many men go through but never talk about. Respect to these two brothers
Great interview, probably the best one so far. With the amazing conversation that went on and how Boogie worded the statement, I don't understand why yall went with the clickbait headline "Sh*thole kings" is the headline when he gave context way more context than that
@@nephiking3688he still better then Bagley, Looney, Jackson Davies, Hayes, Wood, Richards, Stewart, Duren, Wiseman, McGee, Timelord, Len, Kai Jones, Plumlee, Theis, Eubanks, Holmes and fosho Nurkic, but none of yall are ready for the Nurkic convo
Knew my father my whole life but never had a real relationship with him & thats still to this day. But im a father now myself & I’ll be 1000x better man & father than he ever was 💯
That convo about fatherhood was amazing. And to Dre, you got a unique story and upbringing that is complex. I'm sure that's a tough convo with any kid at any age, man. But being honest about your fathers with him will mean more than handling it yourself. I always appreciated how my mom kept it real with me as a kid when she just straight up didn't know. You guys sound like great dads and give me hope about breaking my own cycles with my own kids.
Damn. I'm wondering now if, and if, how important having a grandfather in your life really is. My grandfather's situations were kind of irregular or non-typical. As a result, I never put that much emphasis on the importance of having one. But now that the brothers are talking maybe that matters more than I've been thinking. I appreciate the thought-provoking dialogue
@OutlawMusikk sorry for your loss homie. I've never had that kind of experience. Bio grandads weren't available to me. And the man Grandma married was literally passed out drunk every single day, lol. I never thought about it one way or the other. But it might have helped my father and maybe even helped me. My father is just in the past 5 or so years taking interest in grand kids. I wonder if it affects them in the way your talking
THAT FATHERHOOD TALK WAS DEFINITELY REAL SOME GROW UP SO TOXIC AND NEGATIVE, ALL YOU WANNA SHOW IS LOVE AND COMPASSION AT TIMES YOU DIDNT GET, HAVING A BAD TEMPER DOSENT HELP AT ALL , AT THE END OF THE DAY WE WANT THE BEST AND PROTECT OUR KIDS WE LOVE EM DEEPLY SINCERELY
This is a great interview. Next one should be Senator nominee Royce White strictly on basketball, life and mental health. No politics. Rich Paul let’s make it happen
Yo Dray, I think if Boogie can play prove he can still play well, you should be his liason to play for the Warriors. He is a bucket getter. And yall need that when shots are running cold.
Lowkey message to Dunleavy and Lacob that this team is way too small and still needs a big man after striking out on PG13 and Lauri. Look who just happens to be hanging around the neighborhood
Wishing Boogie well and still hoping to see him back in the league. Honesty, he'd be a great fit with the Lakers, the Nuggets and the Warriors especially right now that they all need depth in the Center position. If Boogie is given the opportunity and put in the right situation, we'll see why he is one of the most talented big in the league.
Southside San Jose Warriors fan . We are glad 2️⃣3️⃣ , is able to create quality Questions and Concerns . Also making himself available to create content and , set a plan for this WARRIOR great to transition from the court to the booth.
If yall don’t get D cuzzin on the squad….. something going on. Helped us compete in the nba season and finals in 2019! Salute Boogie Cuz, best big man in 2010’s fax 📠
First of yall to the both of my young brothers. 16:00( Fatherhood) Short version: Fatherhood experiences are unique. As long as you are preparing yourself to be the best you and your intentions is to do right according to your understanding. Know that your understanding and truth today isn't the same as yesterday. Challenges and change grow character. Salute to Fatherhood!!!!
Cousins was a good player, who I liked his skill-set and passion! He did had a bad attitude, which I felt it was about losing!Has Achilles injury shortened his NBA Career.I was wishing thay he won a Championship Ring.Cousins reminded me of Derrick Coleman.
Gonna always be a father Big Cousin, until the day we push up daisies , but I definitely feel you, being without one everything , even when they get older is all new to us in that regard 💯
I believe that Cousin is one of the best basketball player in the world, his problem is being around a bunch of lazy coaches and GM who always gets the plum jobs in the NBA.
I really wonder do boogie feel like his gift cursed him in the long run? what I meant by gift was he played with a certain aggression and chip on his shoulders that just wasnt meshing well with the nba he was monster on the court but viewed as a villain off the court also do he feel the way things ended in New Orleans cause him to lose motivation for the game or do he feel the league at that moment destroy some love he had for the game during that time? From my point of view boogie had his issue but on the court he was man every night then he left the pelicans and basically just disappeared from his roles then the league in general he was the process before joel came!!!
I remember years ago in south Sacramento off Mack rd the kings open a court out there and sent the kings players and cheerleaders there for the opening and all the kids and homies in the neighborhood try to show love to cousins and give him motivation to keep going hard in the paint and one of the mfs workers like a coach or staff member while we happy to see cousin n the kings players were all hey hi 👋 keep goin hard cousins and the staff member just shuts everything down and push cousins in the bus like fuck these lil street mfs let’s go man. When they drove off we Gangbang on the bus while they left the neighborhood every since then I didn’t like the kings organization
Boogie you were a bit immature back on the Kings and glad you were able to admit this. Attitude was horrible for the team. Wish we kept you and built around you but villains don’t last in the NBA. Hate to say it but Draymond career coming to an end soon too. Just gotta keep your emotions together and enjoy playing the game
Secondly 16:00 Don't force a relationship on your seeds that you aren't comfortable with. There's a reason why your relationship with these guys have been challenging or not a natural fit. A child is a child bc of the lack of understanding. I wouldn't lie trying to get them to understand . Somethings have just have to wait until the can understand. Unlike your Mom you can fill those roles of male influences. All relatives aren't family.
The father segment was deep and hit on a spiritual level! Vulnerability is strength 💡
I wonder if Dray has ANY resentment towards his mother at all for not telling him the truth from the beginning???
@@mrhobbs7340get older and realized moms was a buss down that’s why pops dipped🤙🏿
legit, this is the kind of thing that more men need to hear and SIT WITH FOR THEMSELVES. It can unlock so much potential and joy.
Ay, this father conversation was real man. I can appreciate it coming from a similar situation Dray frfr. Preciate you OG
Love this podcast. You can tell that guys feel extra comfortable when they're here and open up in a different way.
As a father who didn’t have a father in my life. I got so emotional listening to this. I struggle with it

Great interview!
Came in looking for trash talking , and when I heard the deep father conversation, I really appreciate Dray/Boogie alot more.
As a GSW fan for a few decades, Dub Nation is blessed to have someone like Draymond on the team, for so long. BLESSED!!!
Cousins got a tech just by doing this interview
😂
😂😂😂😂
Dray got one from the league too for it
💀
😂😂😂 man i miss boogie in the league
This was actually quite powerful. I see boogie in a different light than I did when he was in the league.
That father segment was real and def a diff point of view looking at boogie
I can't remember another interview I've ever heard where two grown men open up and talk about their own absent father experiences growing up. 🤯

Hey Boogie!!! What about coming back to the Warriors?
Great conversation between 2 great dudes
Boogie saying "genetics just didnt really work out in my favor.." is one of the wildest quotes you'll hear all week 😂
Wanting to be a football player and growing to 7 feet kinda don’t work in your favor 🤣
Wanting to be in the NBA while being a 5’7” Asian didn’t work in my favor either.. 😅
Yea I was thinking the same thing! Genetics definitely worked in his favor!
