      Exactly. GMBN seems more like a channel that supports enduro and downhill riding, not Cross Country (XC)
      I don't know how the distribution of disciplines are in Europe, but where i live 90% does XC.
      So please, do more XC videos, not Enduro and Downhill.

    Hey GMBN can you upload something about the correct body position while climbing. I have been doing a lot of climbing now days and after a very long climb I get pain in my lower back.
    Also It would be great if you can tell about the exercise which riders can do for developing there core strength.
    Love watching your videos and trying stuff out on the trails.

    I would mention that when you have a big fork, having travel adjust on the front really helps the steep climbs, instead of having to push my body forward over the bars, burns a lot of energy compared to a lower bar height with travel adjust (wish I had)

    Something I never see in video's but is still a pertinent problem for most riders; that of pushing the handlebars as you pedal uphill, this habit will only sap energy and make the steeper sections that bit harder. Instead, try to focus on making it feel as natural as possible, having full range of motion and stability.

    Im surprised i don't see more "bar ends" I've had a pair since the 90's and its helped my climbing on steep technical climbs. The hand position allows for more control IMO. am i missing something because its like people must have thought bar ends were just a fad and i rarely seem them anymore. - riding a ghost kato 7 and love the full suspension fyi

    Hi Guys, what about tire pressure making it easier/faster to climb would you suggest a lower pressure to grip the rocky climbs better?

    • @gmbn
      @gmbn  9 ปีที่แล้ว

      Adam Leng Hey Adam, Yes lower pressure is better, obviously depending on how much you weigh? if you ride a hardtail lower pressure will also be more comfortable.. My advice would be start around 25/30psi and work higher and lower from there? Hope this helps? cheers Marc

    I am (very) new to mountain biking. 3rd time out last week :) I am struggling with stalling on short steep uphills, esp. if the rear tire loses traction or if my front wheel lifts off the ground. Any suggestions for improving my technique? thanks!

      Try siting on the front of the saddle and bringing your chest closer to the bars and make sure you pedal at a steady cadence.

    Bit of a point about locking up your suspension when climbing: This does differ between bikes. I'm using a canyon Nerve (pretty similar to the FSR system) which doesn't have a full lock out at the back(does at the front), it only stiffens the damper, but the frame is designed is such a way that bobbing gets less the more power you put on the pedals. This means zero movemoment when climbing or sprinting, but good obstacle reaction when needed. A pure xc frame doesn't necessarily need a lockout, especially when climbing.
    Low power flat riding is a different story though, but hey, we got other bikes for that

  • @lukewright2871
    @lukewright2871 9 ปีที่แล้ว

    Should I get the canyon nerve al 8.0 or the Scott genius 750, can u reply so that I know which one to get

    • @neologisticzand
      @neologisticzand 9 ปีที่แล้ว

      Luke Wright Ride both, get the one that fits you the best. Also, I didn't look up the specs, but I would also pick up the one that is spec'd with the best components if you do not plan to upgrade

    • @RCalundann
      @RCalundann 9 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      Luke Wright The Scott has 20mm / 30mm more travel (front / rear), but an inferior fork and far worse component spec. It will be expensive to upgrade to a similar spec to the Canyon. If you're new to mountain biking, building your skill is more important than a 20mm travel difference, and I would prefer the better shifters, derailleurs and brakes of the Canyon anytime. It is true that you should get the bike that fits you best, but if you're new, you often don't know what a good fit is. Finding a good fit is a matter of experience and riding style and will take some time to get a proper idea of

    Get fitter, lose weight. Yeah, yeah, that's easy for you to say, you... you... you skinny, fit, young... goat.

    • @kennethlarsson1499
      @kennethlarsson1499 9 ปีที่แล้ว

      ollesvensk I lost 7kg in a month by doing three 2 hour rides a week. It can be done if you want it bad enough. I imagine with the time these guys spend in the saddle they could eat butter for every meal of the day and still be fit.

    • @ollesvensk
      @ollesvensk 9 ปีที่แล้ว

      KennethLarsson yeah, I know. It can be done, and I have done so myself. But this damn body of mine likes a whole other equilibrium than I want it to. And maby, just maby, all the beers, foods and lack of training I've done during the past year - and the years before I lost 20 Ks and got almost fit starting two years ago - might have had something little to do to it as well. Who knows ;)

      William Keys You mean for the first 50-100 feet of the next climb?

    • @williamkeys5701
      @williamkeys5701 9 ปีที่แล้ว

      Corbae L
      Yes and no. There are lots of variables, but at a minimum, your average speed is going to be higher for the entire climb. And in rolling terrain it can really make a difference.

    • @elhior23
      @elhior23 9 ปีที่แล้ว

      I ride in sw Montana and pretty much everything I ride is straight up and then straight down. Nothing rolling, sure keeping speed up when you see a little rise is great but when you are talking about 10-20% for 6 miles having a little speed at the bottom isn't going to make that much of a difference.

  • @elhior23
    @elhior23 9 ปีที่แล้ว +2

    I am thinking this was directed at idiots? Basically you say to get fitter...duh. Lose weight well that is the same as getting fitter for the most part. Get a better bike...duh. The only useful thing in here is pacing but you do not really talk about it. Nothing at all here is helpful for even a beginner MTB rider.
