The monster was trying to get the zero point and swim away with it. What a bloody legend.
Plot Twist;
The Monster was actually an OG Fortnite Player that was also a Leaker, eventually finding out what will happen next season (The End.), So he did everything he could to prevent it by snatching the Zero Point.

i was six years old when this happened now am 12
Theory 1: Maybe the seven were trying to destroy the zero point but didn't have enough speed and destroyed the old map. Theory 2: maybe the device was the orb because in season 11 trailer it showed we were underneath the map we're in now so maybe we need to go upside down to get back to the old map. Final theory: the seven are from the map we're in now and they went with us and they weren't trying to bring us with them?
Maybe the seven were trying to bring us with them to this island so they can stop the simulation with us in it so we can get out of it too and finally be free. The same thing midas was trying to do. Break us out. The story shows that midas was also here during chapter 1. Maybe the seven have a connection with midas? He's really important to the storyline so it wouldn't be surprising. Maybe the visitor helped with the device. After all, he did construct the rocket. Maybe all this time they were trying to break out of the loop and the simulation. Maybe the reason why they caused the end, was because the only way to contain the zero point, was to destroy it. Hence bringing us to another island where the zero point is no more. Or is it? Maybe a different zero point is under the authority, or the same zero point from chapter one. After all, the zero point is so powerful that it created an entire black hole, which should be only possible in space. And maybe midas is still alive and working with the seven to finally break us out of the simulation. You know that spaceship with that astronaut in it from just recently? Maybe when he teleported through that rift, he went back to his home, the old map, which is quite possibly where he came from. Is he trying to bring siona back to the old map with him? Maybe the old map isn't destroyed as we might have thought? The astronaut is a male counterpart to siona so it would make sense. Maybe once there, they would bring us back to the old map with them. Or maybe they are going to reboot the old map back up, kinda like how we got rebooted into chapter 2? But hey, that's just a theory, A GAME THEORY

I remember this event...Me and my friends joined the game mode and watched it.I remember when the rocket started up my friends and I were so excited than ever.After knowing the seven were Doing what they were to the zero point one of my friend said"If fortnite does end,We still will be together and always on this game"2 days later chapter 2 came out. My friends and I played it hours and hours.We noticed that some people said that they were getting bored of this game.Chapter 2 season 2...I only have one friend out all of the others online...the one that said"forvever together"... Last offline 50+ days ago .no one else got on since...it's just me mostly...I miss the old fortnite but it's moves on...just like Life does...
