I don't know about that. There was an episode earlier in the series where they referred to Slayer as "death metal" when they are actually thrash. I think that in general Matt and Trey are usually just really good at researching things before plugging them into episodes. The Slayer thing they unfortunately botched (which is rare), but this, they nailed.

I watch southpark since I was myself 8 years old just like the characters on the show (soon to be 33) I grew up with these fuckers. I had a black/death metal phase in my early teens to my early 20s and this scene killed me.
I love when representation of death metal is respectfully displayed and showcased on big shows like South Park. Most tv shows or movies scratch the surface of that genre and it’s always a treat when they recognize a polarizing genre that most won’t get into but show it anyway because it’s a legitimate form of art.
