I mean Paul kinda got forced into it by the emperor, the harkonnens, the reverend mother, and his own mother tbh. They all put him in that situation that he never asked for, and you could argue he did what he had to do, until the second book that is.

In actuality who’s to say that the spice vision are actually what happens in the future or if it’s just like tripping on acid. I’m not 100% sure that the lore confirms they’re all trustworthy or if it’s the same as just tripping balls and seeing what you mind basically makes up.
