  • Went metal detecting during my annual camping trip to the Upper Peninsula in Michigan, 2020! Had a blast up there and got to do some metal Detecting at the lake. This was the first year I have been able to go metal detecting in the water as the lake is usually frozen this time of year up there. The weather was amazing! Pushing seventy degrees in the U.P. in November is almost unheard of. No complaints! Check out the video! I even got some footage of the Mackinac Bridge!

    Looked like an arrowhead in the basket at 1540 mark. Keep an eye out for those. I treasure hunt in the UP of Michigan too. Nice video!

      Not yet! I only go to the U.P. once a year but sounds fun! What do you find in them?

    • @LithicMetals
      @LithicMetals 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@Marshallmetaldetecting lol I drive up every year just to hit the mines. You can find a lot of great copper specimens. Every once in a while you may even pull out some silver too. And artifacts, from both the mines and the ancient copper culture... such as spear points. My best fines have been north of Houghton.

    Hey just curious on what metal detector you use?

  • @thenorthshore6472
    @thenorthshore6472 2 ปีที่แล้ว

    The UP is full of copper culture artifacts. Copper tools and hunting and fishing relics dating back thousands of years. Very easily found but you have to go to old native American game trails, home sights or river crossings ect and stay away from the tourist areas where common modern trash has accumulated. Once you get the copper culture bug...there's no turning back! Lol

    • @Marshallmetaldetecting
      @Marshallmetaldetecting  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      That’s awesome! Is there any resources online that might have these locations or are there any types of clues to look for in the woods/ river areas?

    • @thenorthshore6472
      @thenorthshore6472 2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @Marshall Metal Detecting most people are pretty tight lipped on their locations but try to think like a native American would of thousands of years ago. Any old game trail where it meets up with a water source (creek, river or lake) will usually turn up something. Or south facing slopes where open winter water (river mouths) are found. These places were wintering grounds where they'd set up winter camps.
