    Hard to believe it's been TEN years since you did this one! Even this first attempt was simple and elegant, and it looked GREAT. Amazing how far the mods have come.

      Thanks. I would do this quite differently now as I have better tools, and ideas.

      +Punisher Armory That's a good idea. You can see what I finally did in part three of this video.

    Greetings from across the Pond! After watching this I took one of my Mike Powers the Atomic Man and replaced his missing eye with a 2mm white L.E.D. and drilled through his neck post and routed the wires into his chest/abdominal cavity. I then drilled a hole through his lower back and put in a switch to turn his ATOMIC EYE on and off. It looks very good. Thanks for the inspiration Toy Polloi!

    Looks good---I seen a really small button battery compartment at a store the other day that would probably fit in the body of that figure---that and a small slide switch on the back would almost be invisible---thanks for sharing mate

      Sounds like a good idea. This was my first go at this, so let's call it a prototype ;) I'll see what else I can find to make a better one next time. I have a whole box of Skeletors to work on.

    James - very nice custom vid. I've got some Skeletor pieces lying around - I might give this a shot. Looking forward to the video on how they did the transformation sequence on the official He-Man channel. :-D

    James you should invest in a Dremel Moto Tool, that drill is to big for small detail jobs. Great video. I too saw the other video that other TH-camr made on this Skeletor mod. Cheers.

    I love may I make a small suggestion paint the inside of to prevent light bleeding though the thin plastic

  • @CoOzEbOy1
    @CoOzEbOy1 10 ปีที่แล้ว +1

    Pretty cool! I think I wouldve gone the easier route and just had the led prongs e taped to the batteries and stuffed inside his body. To turn it on or off just remove the head slide a thin piece of plastic between the batteries to cut off the connection and remove it to turn it on and just pop the head back on. Your way is a lot more convenient though with the battery pack. Love your vids!

    • @toypolloi
      @toypolloi  10 ปีที่แล้ว

      Hi, and thanks. It was a fairly easy job to do, just had to think about it for a while. Now I have done this one, I think the next job is to get all the batteries hidden inside.

    Have you considered hollowing out his head, drilling small holes in his eyes and inserting a single red light in the head? Just a thought!

    I'm using this technique on the new MOTU origins buzzsaw hordak to put the battery in his chest to hide it. Thanks for the tips!

    I imagine a blue light could mask some of the glow through and the eyes could still show red, but maybe darker.

  • @zhaneranger
    @zhaneranger 10 ปีที่แล้ว +4

    Since you've got the dremel out, you should have just disassembled the torso and put the batteries inside, leaving just a small switch on his back

    • @toypolloi
      @toypolloi  10 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      I have never split open a motu figure before. Do you have any tips on how to do it? What do I need to cut? The figures always look pretty well glued.

    • @zhaneranger
      @zhaneranger 10 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      Toy Polloi I've never opened up a vintage MOTU either, only the DCUC and ML type bodies. You could probably use a Dremel with a circular cutting disk and cut open a square hatch and create a hinged door with a rubber band. It looks like you don't need much space at all though if you cut down the housing for the batteries. If you can get them to light up with only two batteries maybe forgo the housing all together and just embed them into the back.

      I'll give it a try next time I have a junk figure lying around.

    Could you do a tutorial on how to solder? I suck so hard at it! Do u melt the soldering metal or heat the wire up? Nevermind, too many questions. So wish I wouldve took an electrician course in high school.

    • @toypolloi
      @toypolloi  10 ปีที่แล้ว

      I can do a vid on soldering. I learnt from my Dad years ago. It's mainly just practice.

  • @GoliathAngelus

    You can also do this for Faker.
    You can use a cape to hide the batterypack.

    Amazing job! Do you perhaps know what is the power of the bulb you used (in Wattage)?

    • @toypolloi
      @toypolloi  6 ปีที่แล้ว

      It was a red LED. So they don’t normally say.

    • @aleksandart.lovcanski1581
      @aleksandart.lovcanski1581 6 ปีที่แล้ว

      I guess it was 0.5 W, but I am not sure. I tried to search for the specifications but failed to find any.

    • @toypolloi
      @toypolloi  6 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      A red led requires 3volts to light up. Other colours require more.

  • @vinylrevenge558

    Brilliant! They should have done this in the line, I would have been more into MOTU if they had more play value.

    • @toypolloi

      gxbouncer1 I'm not sure it would be worth it. It takes quite a while to make one. I would need to find some more pieces for the eyes first.
