Yes.the Lanna Kingdom of Northern Thailand sits right between the Burmese and Thai spheres of influence. Historically, the kingdom switched fealty between the Burmese and Thai kingdoms depending who was stronger at that particular time. However, culturally and linguistically, they are ethnic Thai.
@@migspedition Yes, in fact Kengtung (in Thai Chiang Tung), a city in the Shan state, was one of the three sister cities, the other two being Chiang Mai and Chiang Rai. The royal families of these cities intermarried for generations since the founding of the Lanna Kingdom.

I see many Burmese Influences in Lanna culture. Their costumes are heavily influenced by the Burmese.
