I was maining the GAN 13 for a while because it’s super adjustable and I hadn’t properly lubed my Tornado V3, but have switched to the Tornado V3 Flagship because I think I like the slightly smaller size a bit better. I may try a v3 pioneer for the maglev to see if I like it better.

It's nice to see a video like this that compares everything, but here are a few notes:
9:57 - 11 and 12 had two sets of magnets, each with three settings, so still 6 total, but less convenient to use
10:24 - UV coating was introduced with the 11
11:04 - 4.86 was set on the 12, and Tymon still uses the 12 now
11:10 - Super RS3 is also ~56mm (in case people want a cheaper, larger option)
14:20 - WR M 2021 is also ~55mm (in case people want another, smaller option)
18:10 - $15 version is maglev and $20 version is ball core + maglev
23:05 - RS3 M 2020 doesn't have glossy plastic, but MoYu's matte finish wears away pretty quickly

I've got the X-man Tornado V3 Pioneer, Moyu Super RS3M Ball core and the Gan 12 (haven't tried the Gan 13 yet) and still main the Gan 12 due to personal preference of feel and turning style. My backup is the Moyu Super RS3M because of how stable it is, it just seems to ride the tracks on the inside of the puzzle but still the Tornado is great but I just seem to prefer the other 2 more.
I love how everyone's got different styles of turning and preference of cubes.
With that being said a lot of the content you make is great at leading people to find what they will like and for that, thank you 😊

My main is the X-Men v3. I used to love moyu. The wrm 1-3 are all so damned good and the rs3 puzzles are also the best bang for your buck but the tornado v3 just got me this year. It's such a pleasure to solve. That said, I haven't tried the rs3 super mainly because the broken cores put me off of it; also waiting for the wrm 2023 which will likely have core magnets. Gan cubes are just absurdly priced these days; I have the 11 and the monster go smart cube (which I really like) burn the features on the 13 and the 12 just aren't enough to justify the cost. I hope we start to see some of these innovations get put into big cubes soon. Like moyu wrm 4x4 is still the best; I want to see magnetic core (not sure how that would work) and maglev on it. I know you said you don't really notice much of a difference with maglev but I really like it despite the fact that the adjustment is normally not as flexible as a spring. There is a slight speed increase and I'd rather slow down my cubes than have to try to speed them up.

İ upgraded from rs3m 21 to super rs3 ball core and it's really worth it, i do really love feel of it. And somebody says ball core doesn't effect too much, i think it does u really can feel that feeling when u set up it well.

i had the moyu super with the ball core and it actually broke inside pretty quickly, the cube still works but now that I took out the broken pieces feels all crazy. Im here because I love the wrm 2021 and I wanna get a cube with the PVC coating, the more I look I am still believing in the purple internals 💪🏼 if I got another super it would have to be the mag lev, I feel like you can break the ball core but putting pressure on the cube from the outside

I have a Tornado V2 with a magnetic core fitted,also a month rs3m again with a magnetic core,to be honest I prefer the v2,although if you adjust the moyu correctly there's nothing wrong with either one in my humble opinion,

9:29 I agree. Even thought I haven’t tried the 12 or 13 they are just not making them like the X. And I get they are trying to make different cubes and to advance in technology but if they went back to that extreme smooth feel and simplicity while just improving just the performance I think more people would enjoy it.
Highly recommend you to try 13. I did like XS, then I thought 11 should be better, but I didn't like any of it, I didn't try 12 for that reason because some reviews say it's not a lot different from 11, then I got 13 and I'm happy with it, it's like XS but even better imo. Though I'd prefer it to be quieter than it is, a lot of moving parts needed for adjustment makes it quite too clicky.

It is 54.5. I just measured it and it's actually slightly under that around 54.4. I did misspeak about the Gan cube though.

I maintain that MoreTry changed the game this way:
Releasing different variants of the same cube at the same time.
Gan released variants of the 11, but at different points in time.
i´m a noob cuber and bought my first speedcube last week, and started to learn how to solve it
i did have an original rubiks cube for years but never thougt it was fun trying to learn it because it was so slow and stuck all the time.
i got the MoYu Super RS3M MagLev. =). now its fun to learn new algorithms and practice look ahead.
im not trying to be the fastest , just have some fun and maybe go sub 30 avarage some day
i love it but i have nothing to compare it to...

In my opinion, don’t listen to future Shawn, Shawn. I love your long content and very informative videos. Your channel is what helped me the most in choosing cubes. If you will change it, I’m fine with it. But I just wanna say I love your content out of other cubers the most.
i really wish i had the money for a flagship tornado v3, my only other real option is the rs3m super which is significantly cheaper but also would just make me feel like i missed out
is the performance difference between the standard and flagship tornado enough to make the standard simply not worth it?
For me I don’t really like the newer release since most puzzles has coloured internals and it give the puzzle a bit more friction and the older puzzles has a glidy feel which I prefer. The older moyu cubes are the best for me and I’ve been maining them for a while

If you mean "auto align" it doesn't actually happen in any Gan models during solves and was more of a marketing thing. They showed it in the 12 but actually removed it in the 13.

I hope you answer this....I've mained the rs3m 2021 for about 1.5 yrs... I'm thinking to buy tornado v3....is the tornado v3 better than rs3m 2021 in any aspect...or any major difference that they have?
The difference is what I note about this and the RS3 Super. It's more about stability/flexibility differences, and magnetic adjustment capabilities. "better" is not really a great word to describe cube differences currently.
Tommy Emmanuel said that the best guitar is the one you pick up and don't wanna put down. The same goes for cubes. And for me, that's the TV3. But for someone else, it may be YS3M, GAN 12, or Weilong V9. I love the feeling of both the YS3m and TV3, but TV3 I just don't wanna put down. That's the difference. I have no idea which one I perform better on, but as a hobbyist, it doesn't matter. I wish we had more physical speed cube stores were we can go to try cubes out.
What is the exact reason you prefer Tornado v3 over Gan 13? Is it the size or maybe?.. I just... When Gan 13 maglev came out I thought "this edge magnets is a revolution, it's not just a little something like core magnets (remember that WRM21 doesn't have it and still a great cube, same goes for Gan XS for example), it's something that really make a difference (though with core magnets in place)", when Gan 13 came to my hands it was exactly what I thought it should be, it's really impressive. What is so different in Tornado v3 from other core magnets cubes and how it can be about top 1 with just core magnets and nothing else special? I just don't know if I should try it having also Gan 13 or it won't impress me at all.
It's the size of the puzzle, the weight (total and piece distribution), the turning feel, the ease of adjustment system, and the price all coupled together.
I won a free gan 13, but am having a hard time finding a set-up I enjoy on it. It probably isn't the cube for me, but I'd like to know what you found to be the preferable settings on it, and what type of lube you enjoy with it?
i find the internal circle on 3, external on 4 and magnets on 4 a "likeble" setting, but i still prefer the tornado v3

Upon further research, I found the Australian shop still had the limited edition gan 13 kunlan, and decided to pay the extra bucks for something more rare, but I still have my eye on the moyu super ...

Put everything on 5 to start. Do a lot of solves like that. Then back up one number at a time if you feel it's too tight, too "elastic" which can often just make it slower, or too clicky.

Great video just so you know maglev has a little less friction then springs so people think it’s just a little faster
That is actually false. Then turning the large majority of the friction is from the pieces. Some of the cores also are set up where the springs are not having any more drag on the. plastic than a ring magnet would. On top of that most cubers, even the fastest in the world slow their puzzles down on purpose. The idea that maglev is "faster" is either negligible or nonexistant.

It's sad that you think what MsCube does is unnecessary, I think the idea in the core magnets DIY is to let you chose wether you want the repell system, the atract system or both, and it's the only cube that does this. Sure, it's complicated, but it really looks like something that can change completely the feeling of the cube...if done well of course 😅
I just received the WRM Maglev (about a month ago) and it felt weird at first. But then I realized it was exactly what I was looking for for all 2022 : a fast, flexible and yet stable cube at 55mm. I don't think the maglev system changes anything, but I wanted the purple internal. And I droped 1s on an AO100 !

Gan 13 want out when Tymon got wr
After taking a long break from cubing, I got a gan 12 and was immediately disappointed. The corner to corner magnets turned out to just not be my thing. I ended up shelling out for a 356 XS, as I liked the X in the past, and it's perfect.
I feel like there may be a thing with whatever you grew up with is the feeling you prefer. The tornado v2 feeling like the x as far as stability and sound it made.
I might sound foolish and dumb and stupid, but I think I am making the next big advancement in cubes.. (I don't want to disclose any info)

Just a random idea, but what if you started ordering every cube ever on like a scale from worst to best. Maybe you don’t have to go that far back, but maybe include the most popular speed cubes and the distance between each one, from left to right, gives how much better one is then the other. Because I feel like most reviews say the same thing, which I understand because there isn’t a whole lot of factors besides feel, speed, weight, flexibility or such. But how does it compare to other cubes in general?
The problem is that there is no "better" for most puzzles. It's more about what feeling you prefer.

I personally like smaller puzzles and ones that are a little bit heavier. So personally something like the Tornado version two was near perfect for size feeling and weight. I would be hesitant to ever use the word "better" as even for myself I tend to look at things more objectively as I know I can get the exact same times even on puzzles I'm not a fan of the feeling of.

Because I have that and idk if I should switch. Or if they are really close in terms of performance. But yeah my preference is kinda the opposite haha
They are near identical. The biggest change would be about 6 years ago with the AoLong days. The MeiYing started to set the new style.

I stopped buying Gan cubes with the XS. Okay, technically I bought the Gan Robot v2 and Gan 356 i2, but as far as their regular non-intelligent puzzles I stopped at the XS. Honestly, I only bought the XS because SCS wouldn't UV coat a Gan X for whatever reason. My favorite Gan cube to this day is the X. I actually don't like admitting to people what I paid for my SCS custom Gan XS. It's literally embarrassing to me. Thankfully, QiYi came out with something that I not only enjoy using, but I can actually recommend to people (especially strangers) who come up to me and ask me (which actually happens with surprising frequency). Back when I was mostly using my SCS Gan XS I always had to go through this huge spiel about it being the best, but it's ridiculously expensive (embasment and feeling stupid/frivolous ensues). Honestly, it's annoying enough to have people interrupting my cubing time as it is (even if I get what I deserve for doing it in public), I don't really need to also feel embarrassed or stupid for spending close to $100 on a speedcube. So I'm really glad some of these other cubes manufacturers have really stepped it up yet haven't gotten bigheaded like Gan has.
How does i2 gan turn in comparison to like tornado v3? Im looking to buy i3
@@actioncameraspro the best way to describe the i2 turning is a poorly setup midrange Gan cube. It's nowhere close to the turning off the X-Man Tornado v3. I'm guessing the i3 will be better than the i2 but still not even close to as good as the X-Man Tornado v3.

They all have the same tension system. The 2020 still is the nicer glossy plastic.
Gan is extremely overpriced. In my country it is even more expensive - the price for it is about $100. I bought mine for $38, though, from one of the Chinese stores on Aliexpress. I will not mention the name for obvious reasons. It was a Halloween sale and the price was more than halved. The problem is, it took over a month for the parcel to arrive. However, if you really want this cube and are willing to wait, it is quite an affordable option.
super rs3m maglev is 15 usd, not 20 usd. the ball core version is the 20 usd one. ball core version is also maglev.

I'm 99.999% sure that Tymon was still using the Gan 12 when he got the world record, so yeah...
But, from the 12 to the 13, I think they blew it with the performance and the feel of the cube, and I used to LOVE Gancubes, but I think that they blew it with the Gan 13. I don't know, it just doesn't feel right...

I love the 2020 RS3M but the 2022 Super RS3M ball core is worse. The turning stinks. It locks up. I'm not sure what happened on this version but the ball core is a step backwards. Still a big Moyu fan though.
yea there were sm major flaws with the super rs3m , u must have about the core breaking and stuff. The ys3m i think fixed dis problem tho i havent tried it yet cuz i couldn't get my hand on on eyet.
I love Gan, that was all I used. But their prices continue to rise and it’s just ridiculous. They have some breaking $100. It pisses me off. If I do get a Gan now, I’ll get one that’s been out for two years. But a new model that’s been out for less then a year, no way. I hope they realize other brands are out there, producing just as good cubes for less.
Tornado v3 really nailed it ❤ It's a bummer there was no WRM 2022, but whenever they release a new WRM (or whatever they decide to call their flagship), I wish it is glossy and has core magnets.

That would be similar however the piece design makes it feel a bit different and the weight distribution isn't the same as the rs3.

If price is no issue, then it could be an option but certainly not "best." There really isn't a "best performing" as you can get exactly the same times on the $8 RS3 2020 and the Gan 14. It is more about size and flexibility. I like smaller cubes (54, or 55mm) and a bit more solid feeling.

@ChiguAnime Since price is no issue for me with cubes as they are sent to me, I use the Tornado v2 more than any other one. I did core magnetize it too. I heard the DaYan GuHong v4 may be similar as it comes in 54mm and 55mm. I should get that in the next week.

@ChiguAnime Remember, there is no such thing as "better" with modern cubes. Every cube from $8 RS3, to $80 Gan 14 will give you practically identical times.
If you want smooth I also suggest getting some lubrication like Nebula from SpeedCubeShop.

100% the Gan 13 is not "best of all" even in performance of price was no factor. I mention that in the video
