Read through all the comments n find no one is saying the alto😪I sing the alto part in choir and really love that so so so muchhh💕n alto is so underrated all the time
We sang this song for all state in the nick of time before COVID shut down and the composer got to direct it for us. Love this song.... Looking back now as I'm currently reading the book of Jeremiah lol
So proud to have the opportunity to sing this in high school as the soprano hitting that very top note. It was nerve-racking, but we performed it, and everyone, including us in the choir, were shook! We worked so hard on this piece, delivery of the words, feel the emotions... all worth it!
My high school choir was going to perform this at our 2020 spring concert ☹️ Needless to say, that didn’t happen. Love this piece so much and this choir does such a great job with it!
When I was in choir at my high school, we never did this piece. I did this piece on my own. I can sing bass. I’m strong with the bass part. It’s one of my favorites.
This song brought about my single event that happened during any rehearsal. My entire bass section had a voice crack at the exact same time. It wasn’t even a particularly high note or anything, the stars just happened to align
I'm still bummed my high school choir never ended up singing this, but a couple kids didn't care and it brought down the whole class. This was just before my voice deepened, so it would've been the only time I could've sung the 1st soprano part.
My school choir preformed this last night. I sang Alto while getting over the flu along with half of our choir, we some how managed to get through our whole set. But this was probably the hardest song to sing sick. And trust me I’ve had to sing my fair share of songs sick.
Man altos around me would PRAY for a Little Cold because as long as you were only minorly effected you would get a really rich, chesty texture to your alto part. Kids are dumb :)
My high school performed this in my freshman year of high school. It was so amazing! We got a standing ovation for our performance of this absolutely beautiful song! I am now a freshman in college, and still I am humbled by the beauty of this masterpiece ♥
My highschool Acap class did this for our final concert and it was do difficult to get the latin pronunciation correct while maintaining good vocal quality and balance. But hearing the sopranos and Altos in person for this and standing amongst everyone that is a part of it, is one of the most beautiful sounds ever.
Over and over we're granted reminders of God's creative power as we aspire and on occasion - demonstrate our own - because we're his. And yet, some fools still insist ... However, thanks ever so much for sharing this!
I may not be religious, but damn if some of this music isn't the best stuff I've ever heard. The first time I heard this piece was from our highschool choir back in April and it literally gave me chills. Fantastic.
today i joined a choir in my school (everyone is required to do band or chorus so theres other ensembles) and i joined a bit late in the schpol year say the least so learning as much of this as possible within an hour was a time :')
The build up and cutoff before the end 😩 when I did district honor choir, we sang it in a gym for practice and the resonance was insane! I started doing the “holly sheet that was fkn amazing” silent giggle 😂
I remember we were going to do this song in high school but Covid hit and we couldn’t do it I was so mad cause I had the soprano 1 part and there was only two of use doing that part so I felt like I was special 😂

I’m doing this song for my concert and I was to do the high baritone at se es do lore but some senior is the only one allowed to and he gets a solo in another song that he sucks at💀
Where are the comments on "Great is Thy Faithfulness" and God the Father?! Disappointed, I came here for faithfulness and praise and no comments about that. Makes me sad. So Jeremiah and Lamentations like.

Same!! Soprano 1!!
I have to sing this for a festival in a few months. I'm a soprano 1 too :)
Absolutely worth it!
I love how the dynamics of the music was physically interpreted through the conductor.
I'm trying to find carisimi's Jeptha Lament
Sung this song at Carnegie hall last week, the audience was shook. Love this piece, how broken and forgotten it is MEANT to sound, fantastic!
Sang this at Carnegie Hall in 2007. God bless
What a coincidence, I’m just about to sing this song at Carnegie Hall next year. I can’t wait.
Damn, Heard it at Carnegie Hall yesterday. Always gives me goosebumps when a group sings it :)
Singing at Carnegie was such a magnificent experience. Carnegie alum here from 2004.
My schools Madrigale choir is going to sing this at Carnegie next week!
This reminds us through all the suffering we face, that the Lords mercies are forever and renewed daily and great is His Faithfulness
Sang this at the first music festival I ever got accepted into, one of my favorite alto parts in any piece I've ever performed
So lucky to have been able to sing this piece with Z. Randall Stroope conducting!! It was such a great experience and I get to sing it in Europe!!
My high school choir was going to perform this at our 2020 spring concert ☹️ Needless to say, that didn’t happen. Love this piece so much and this choir does such a great job with it!
same 😔
I did too in 2008…. It’s so beautiful but so hard to get the notes being a soprano….. omg.
When I was in choir at my high school, we never did this piece. I did this piece on my own. I can sing bass. I’m strong with the bass part. It’s one of my favorites.
The bass is strong in this one.
This has become my official favorite Choral song. The chills are real!
I got to sing this song at all-state choir with Randall Stroope conducting. It was one of those moments you never forget.
Washington?
I was in the same choir, for WMEA. It was by far my favorite piece we performed!
@@sunrise5710 Yes, Washington All-State
Same
It's beautiful and we are singing it in 10 days! Symposium choir Capetown!
This song brought about my single event that happened during any rehearsal. My entire bass section had a voice crack at the exact same time. It wasn’t even a particularly high note or anything, the stars just happened to align
1:38 OH SHIT the feet are coming apart this just got REAL.
Love the soprano part
Jen B-G 😌 i sang sp1 in a comp and we got sup with destination 😌 i loves chior so much ( it was a high school one )
So do the clouds ot reached lol
Got to sing this song for Z. Randall Stroope!! One of the greatest moments in my choir career!!
Got to sing this at an All-State festival, directed by Z.R. Stroope himself; will forever love this song, hope to teach it someday!
I love how the basses and tenors we dispersed throughout the choir :))
Irini Mahida they don’t really but they are over powered by the saps
I'm still bummed my high school choir never ended up singing this, but a couple kids didn't care and it brought down the whole class. This was just before my voice deepened, so it would've been the only time I could've sung the 1st soprano part.
We sang this my final year in high school, and I was the only soprano allowed to hit the high note❤
This song is amazing. The piece has worked its way into my heart and I’ll never forget it

Randal collier-Ford, Randall Thompson, Randall Stroope...
There must be a magic in this name that they're all great!
My choir took first place in a nationwide comp about 20 years ago with this song. Absolute masterpiece. I'll never forget it.
My high school performed this in my freshman year of high school. It was so amazing! We got a standing ovation for our performance of this absolutely beautiful song! I am now a freshman in college, and still I am humbled by the beauty of this masterpiece ♥

I got to sing this at All-State this year and it was so awesome. Z. Randall Stroope was conducting and he did a phenomenal job!
I interviewed him before the concert, its the only vid ive ever uploaded here
i want this song on spotify!!
Emma Rose its there, but the name is in Spanish: "lamentaciones de Jeremias"
@@gabrielaraujo2080 thanks!
This is the only piece I vividly remember performing in high school. It left such a huge impact on me!
Over and over we're granted reminders of God's creative power as we aspire and on occasion - demonstrate our own - because we're his. And yet, some fools still insist ... However, thanks ever so much for sharing this!
I loved singing this song, specially since I was an alto singing this song and I felt seen
I cant wait to perform this amazing song!
I may not be religious, but damn if some of this music isn't the best stuff I've ever heard. The first time I heard this piece was from our highschool choir back in April and it literally gave me chills. Fantastic.
Still my favorite piece I sang with my choir from 2010. I have heard many choirs perform this piece, and this by far has been the BEST one.
Apart from the bell miss at 0:50, this is perhaps the best version I’ve heard on TH-cam
singing this at my high school chorus concert next week. wish us luck lol
How’d it go?
One of my favorite pieces ever..... It's way cool with the original composer conducting
Loved doing this during All State! Can't wait for this year!
IM SO EXCITED FOR TMEA
Such a great choral work! At moments brings to mind the Requiem of Eli Tamar. So much inspiration.
T1. That “lor” that hits the G is so fun to do in tandem with the altos. This is such a good song.
Miss singing this song with the boys at church on Sundays
today i joined a choir in my school (everyone is required to do band or chorus so theres other ensembles) and i joined a bit late in the schpol year say the least so learning as much of this as possible within an hour was a time :')
This song is currently the highlight of my year

Latin
Good for Tish b av

Disappointed, I came here for faithfulness and praise and no comments about that. Makes me sad.
So Jeremiah and Lamentations like.
2:00 where's bass. Others are too loud to hear bass
It's there, the notes are really low at this part so unless you're really listening for it, it blends with the rest
indiana jones vibes especially at the end
