Hi Tomo, I can't believe I've learned so many chords in so little time just by watching you. May be because your videos are so 'human' ? We, learners, simply go on, just like that, nothing complicated, nothing to worry about... Sure I want many other videos like these, many Happy songs ;-)

    1. 5 Things I Wish Beginner Guitarists Knew - as a complete beginner who can play a couple of chords but is yet to get to smooth changes, it was useful advice for me to adapt to my current level, but also to remember moving forward. I have to say however that all your videos contain information and tips for players of any level so picking a favourite was hard. As a beginner if it is a more advanced level, there is still things to pick out that are useful now, but the lesson as a whole still sits in the memory as you advance because you have used something from the lesson already.
    2. Would be great to see a video or videos about which guitarists have inspired you and what you take from that inspiration. As in when you watched/listened to them was it the licks you copied, or the style/methods that you learned from.
Most of all though Tomo, I think it is your presentation style that grabs people the most. You talk TO people not AT people, and your advice always comes from a place of understanding - especially when you give the reminders with your picks like "Don't expect too fast", "Be kind to yourself" and "Don't compare". I think as a beginner "Don't Compare" and "Don't expect too fast" are often interchangeable as we always want to be better than we are and often allow frustration to overrule the knowledge that anything worthwhile takes time to do it properly. I've found that finding a teacher that resonates is the hardest thing and I put it down to how much psychology there is in learning to play an instrument. So finding the right teacher is like someone trying to find the right psychologist/counsellor - you have to feel a connection with what they say and where that is coming from, and trust the information given.
I hope that you, Sammi and the rest of your family have a safe and wonderful New Year, and that 2021 is much better than 2020 - 2021 has a low bar to beat though 🤣😂🤣

Now I think I know how to teach REAL beginners! That's what I want to challenge myself in year 2021! And a few more things are I am cooking .... Definitely I would love to give more inspiration to all. I would love to teach how to use our emotion with performing! Music is so powerful & guitar is so deep! Bottomless!

My favorite videos from this year were the "Isn't She Lovely" by Stevie Wonder tutorial and the "Happy Song" by Professor Fujita tutorial. I love learning jazzy chords and going through all the degrees in each chord; it makes it even better when the song they make up is great!
For new videos - I love theory, so anything with heavy theory is good. Maybe chord progression theory? It would also be cool to see a Bossa Nova tutorial; I love the genre so much! Very jazzy, too.
I am buying my first electric guitar today, so it would be great to see videos on setting up and understanding tone on electric, understanding how to use effects, and how to take the best care of your guitar so it lasts a long time.
Thank you for an amazing year of music, Master Tomo. You have made me into a much better guitar player! Keep up the awesome videos!

Thanks, Tomo. “Major-minor almost like a cat-dog...” That made me laugh so hard! Those little asides are what I cherish. My favorite was Lovely Chords. It gave me something other than “Blue Bossa” to amuse myself. It’s such a feeling when you get in the flow and you’re almost like a bystander. “Yes, those pretty sounds-you’re making them!” As for ideas, how about rhythms? Samba, bossanova, la pompe, gypsy swing? I’ll even give you the title: “Nine Rhythms. Can You?” Thanks again!

Happy New Year Tomo! I really have enjoyed your teaching skills after the last few months of following. My favorite video has been the slap guitar segment from your tomo fujita wisdom session. Your wisdom extends far past the guitar and it shows immensely. Thank you for all of your thoughtfulness! I want to see a video explaining some sweeping and your muting rake/scrape that I hear so often in your playing. Maybe you already have a video that you can refer me to :) thank you sensei!

Tomo, I really appreciate how you walk through the degree of each note in the chords in this video. This is a very helpful way to understand more of the chords while learning them. I found myself recognizing chords from working on triads and from the Bb and A blues Guitar Wisdom lessons that I am working on my muting with. Thank you for all the videos and I hope you have a happy New Year!
My favorite video of yours was the A blues and discussion of BB King sound with the song Lucille, it is one of my favorites and was able to see more of the music because of that lesson!
I think personally I would enjoy to see a little bit more of discussing the specific style of famous players. I enjoy listening to how you describe the way Larry Carlton and BB King and others play the guitar and would love to know what things you learned as you spent time developing your own unique voice with your music.

So glad to hear that you enjoyed my teaching. I really appreciate it. You mean how did I develop my style, my sound? That would be interesting myself! A lot of hard decisions so I made my style. Not just keep working hard... that's anyone can do. Thanks again!

For acoustic: Ava Mahogany LIVE (12-53 or 12-54) and Oliver Mahogany (13-56) so I use both guitars for practicing this way I am not used to one tension.

Good question! Thanks so much! I always wanted to be a little versatile but I wanted to focus on certain styles so that I can handle it. Once (long time ago) I wanted to do many styles... I gave up that! Definitely I wanted to build my own style so I have worked on my touch, tone and time! (3T's) I love performing and I love teaching. Someone told me that "You cannot do both really well!" But I wanted to success both! Why not? I am hard worker so I am still working hard every single day! For teaching, I teach "foundation" so that once you have "foundation" you can apply many things into your music! ...From triads, diatonic harmony, ear training, blues feel, jazz chords and all! Music can melt later... So much fun!!

I belive to better understand those chords progression we need to study some theory, how to know if an interval of a root (I) it's major or minor and the relationship about adding 9ths ,dim , 13th , I tried play blind adding those and didnt sound good .
If we copy paste i guess we just will get.stuck without freedom

@@TomoFujitaMusic that’s the one! Need videos like this. The jazzier stuff (which I want to get to grips with) like that I need explaining and breaking down so that when I play I have an awareness how and why it works. I think the theory will be beneficial on the guitar wisdom 🙏

@@ElliotShulman Great to hear that! I can teach more jazzier things very easily... but jazz is not so popular on TH-cam so I always a little hesitation doing jazz lesson. I am planning to make more funk and jazz lessons at my Guitar Wisdom! I already made 25 theory lessons at my TFGW...but I am adding more about chords & phrasing lessons.
