13 has 800 nits of brightness, 13 pro has 1000. setting the bar to the same percentage yields higher nits of brightness on the 13 pro, thus making it use more battery.

ProMotion is a actually variable refresh rate, which allows it to save battery compared to something fixed at 60Hz. Yes, it can go to 120Hz, but it can also go to 10Hz for looking at photos or 30Hz for looking at videos. It is probably not the reason for the 13 Pro's reduced battery life compared to the 13. It is likely the increased RAM that is has, that just requires a tiny bit more battery to keep it going. It's a very small difference, but it is the same in the case of iPhone 12 Pro vs 12 (neither which have Promotion or 120Hz displays).
How fascinating, I thought the 120 Hz would have more of a negative impact on the battery lives of the pro models. I can't wait to see them running against the 120Hz android or xiaomi equivalents. Excellent video!
No pro motion can also run on 30hz or lower while the other phones always run on 60hz. That’s why pro motion doesn’t really take more battery. Unless of course you make it run a while on 120hz, like in this test.
I'm curious how the 11 pro max performs compared to the new iphones since it was the previous battery champion, I haven't seen any tech channels include it yet.
If you look at The Tech Chap’s reviews he covers it, the 11PM is better than the 12PM but the 13PM is the new champ. It’s hard to test as the 11PM was discontinued over a year ago, so any models out there have a 1 year old battery, or any reviews when new would have a focus on 2 year old software from 2019 and not a fair comparison to things right now.
I’m testing this now. It seems on WiFi I’m getting 14 hrs screen on. However, 5g lte is impacted it pretty bad and get 10 hrs or so so about same as 11 pro max when you use 5g. I’m going to disable 5g lte and see if it helps
Nobody else has made a compact 5G flagship with this level of performance and camera quality and battery life. Amazing for a lot of people I know who want an amazing experience but in an ergonomic package.
The iPhone 13 Pro died sooner because it has a smaller battery capacity. Most of the time it’s running at 10Hz - 60Hz, it only goes to 120Hz when the higher refresh rate is actually necessary. If your tests had less motion, it’s likely that the iPhone 13 Pro would actually outlast the iPhone 13.
Meaning to say if I keep on gaming for lets say till the battery dies, ip13 will be better for me as it will only be capped at 60hz while ip13p may go up to 120hz thus consuming more battery?

Good to know it should be even better than when my 11 was new. I prefer a smaller form factor but was concerned with battery life sacrifice. My biggest day one complaint with 11 is the size and weight, otherwise great phone. But in 2019 I didn’t know Apple was going to bring back the 5 size or I would have waited.

Same as the previous comment, I also have the iphone 12 and realistically with mainly wifi usage, I get 10 hours of SOT without playing games, just browsing social media at 30-40% brightness. I think the mini has comparable battery life so if small size is a factor for you, I definitely recommend the 13 mini!

Yea Im getting 10-12 hours easy on the 13 pro max with heavy use. And it charges fast you can get a extra 20-30% battery in like 20 mins. This phone is a work horse for sure, you can confidently forget your charger at home and be ok all day.

Just got the 13 mini set up. I will never use my phone that hard and have access to chargers throughout my normal day, Time will tell but it’s nice coming from a larger android to one I can casually pocket.

The fact that 120hz was implemented, coupled with slightly more screen re estate.. yet the battery life was increased by THIS MUCH… that’s innovation by my definition !
the battery life is beast i never got a warning of low battery on mine since i got it, i do charge it every night tho. and also it changes all the way down to 10 hz when you aren’t using it (ProMotion) that’s why the battery life is so good bc if it constantly stayed at 120 hz then the battery life would suck
I'd like to respectfully disagree about the 11. It is still a great device that many recommend, myself included. You tech heads should realize that it's not only the latest and greatest design that deserves recognition, but even the older model if it is good for the masses. And the 11 definitely is, especially by looking at how many people still rock that or the Xr and are still happy with their device. Stop being snobs

because of the refresh rate... 155mah more for the vanilla one... that's just not "pro" , you cant always compensate for less resources to the point that you will see actual benefits

I think it just depends on how you’re using it, if you were just watching like a 24 fps movie the entire time, the 13 pro would last longer, because the regular 13 would be running at 60 hz while the pro would just be at 24, but if you are doing more things that require above 60 hz then the non pro model would last longer

I have the 13 pro max and can confirm the insane battery life. I would have to charger my iPhone xr twice a day usually from how much I used it and this phone last me 2 days because I forget to charge it from how much it has left at the end of the day which is usually above 50%

Nice, sitting here with an IPhone 8 Plus with a after market 4900mah battery. New phones are better but not 1200+ better. I can touch 10-11 hours of battery life of camera and video playback/browsing. Plus TouchID. Maybe by the time we get to the 14/15 Pro Max. For the price the regular iphones should have 6GB of RAM and the pros 12GB of RAM.
I want that 13 pro max so bad, this is how batteries on a phone should be. Now you can make sure that you can use your phone for 3 years and the battery will still last a whole day
guys, keep on mind that most people wont game all day or use the camera all day. All the phones are great they were just put under stress to make the battery drain faster!

Assuming the 12 mini is below the 11 battery life I don’t see a good reason to get the 12 now. As a 13 Pro Max user… coming from the XS Max, I couldn’t care less now about fast charging. Heck why would You? The phone last literally 2 days on reasonable usage or 1 on REALLY heavy usage. Slap it on a wireless charger and Boom, i gurantee You wont be able to kill the phone the rest of the day.

The battery has degraded over 10 months of use. Happens to all phone batteries

It should get you through the day. My iPhone 12 gets me through a day so if the 13 mini is comparable to the 12 it should.

The iPhone 13 mini has 2406 mAh battery, the iPhone 13 has 3227 mAh battery and the 13 Pro Max has 4352 mAh battery. Rest all others are correct.

And low brightness that’s means it can last for 2 days w/o a charge

because of the refresh rate... 155mah more for the vanilla one... that's just not "pro" , you cant always compensate for less resources to the point that you will see actual benefits

@@ntinos2014 the pro has 200 nits brighter than regular 13. If this test is based on 800 nits the pro would last longer than 13 even having smaller battery life, thanks to its promotion.

I think it just depends on how you’re using it, if you were just watching like a 24 fps movie the entire time, the 13 pro would last longer, because the regular 13 would be running at 60 hz while the pro would just be at 24, but if you are doing more things that require above 60 hz then the non pro model would last longer

I have the 13 pro max and can confirm the insane battery life. I would have to charger my iPhone xr twice a day usually from how much I used it and this phone last me 2 days because I forget to charge it from how much it has left at the end of the day which is usually above 50%

Nice, sitting here with an IPhone 8 Plus with a after market 4900mah battery. New phones are better but not 1200+ better. I can touch 10-11 hours of battery life of camera and video playback/browsing. Plus TouchID.
Maybe by the time we get to the 14/15 Pro Max. For the price the regular iphones should have 6GB of RAM and the pros 12GB of RAM.

To make the more accurate you can limit the refresh rate to 60 on the 13 pro and pro max To Mac the other iPhone more accurately
did you check the brightness in nits or only set them at the same level because then they are not the same brightness
guys, keep on mind that most people wont game all day or use the camera all day. All the phones are great they were just put under stress to make the battery drain faster!

@@112188Francisco it’s touch. Price it identical, but the mini gets extremely similar battery life and double the storage capacity. Assuming the 12 mini is below the 11 battery life I don’t see a good reason to get the 12 now. Her main issue with the old phone was battery so I want an improvement with it, and 13 mini might just be it. I’ve seen some tests where the 13 mini beats the 12

As a 13 Pro Max user… coming from the XS Max, I couldn’t care less now about fast charging.
Heck why would You? The phone last literally 2 days on reasonable usage or 1 on REALLY heavy usage. Slap it on a wireless charger and Boom, i gurantee You wont be able to kill the phone the rest of the day.
