Now we know why Errinwright was so dead set on eliminating the Martian stealth launch platforms. It wasn't to eliminate Mars' first strike capability, but to make sure they couldn't retaliate for the attack Nguyen just launched, and avoid mutually assured destruction.
@@ianfowler9505 I didn't catch it the first time I watched it, but it suddenly made so much sense when I rewatched tbe entire show. This is one of the many things I love about the show: they give you very little exposition and make you infer things for yourself. Most shows would've had a moustache twirling Errinwright tell us the plot. It makes this show so much more engaging to me.
Great reaction, guys. 🙂 Watching The Expanse is like sitting in an especially wobbly rocking chair, then realizing that the chair is in the back of a pickup truck going 100 mph, then realizing that the truck is zooming down the runway of an aircraft carrier, then realizing that the carrier is heading towards a giant whirlpool in the middle of the ocean. Right now, y’all are at the “This rocking chair is ON A TRUCK” stage.
If you recall, in every instance since season one that we've seen Souther and Nguyen (pronounced "wen"), they have behaved consistently so that at this point, what they are doing feels fully on brand. We've seen them heading to this collision all along. Good writing, even for minor characters. Souther expected too much honor from his service comrades, thinking that even the worst of them would respond with honor when called to it. This show gets better and better when re-watched again and again, which is the reason fans enjoy your reactions. Even we see and understand more about the story as we watch it with you. Nikki mentioned, for instance, that the hybrid on the Roci took out the governor device in its chest. That connects to the fact that all elements of the Protomolecule are communicating in real time with each other (which we only learned last episode). When we saw that, we realized what that bright flash meant 'way back when the first hybrid was leaning over Bobbie. So the hybrid in the Roci knew it had a bomb in its chest. And upon rewatch of the earlier episode, we also noted that the overhead drone flashed red, the signal it sent to detonate the bomb in that hybrid. So many new connections to make every time you watch it.
This episode is one of my favourite in tv history. It lets smaller characters have huge moments and pushes the story forward and sets it up in perfect amounts
MVP for sure. It's also interesting because it's a complete change around of how they write Martians - early on they write them as brainwashed militaristic wackjobs, even on the Donnager, until something really catastrophic happens to snap them out, she's considering all the angles right from the start, it's a total 180 on what they write to make you believe they're basically pure unadulterated evil.

Seeing you guys get so enthusiastic about the left turns and trying to work out where things will end up in this show makes me think you’ll both get an absolute kick out of the Netflix original show Dark!
Quite possibly my favorite episode of the entire series. The mutiny on the Agatha King and the total awesomeness of captain Kirino who in just a few scenes and with just a few lines became my favorite minor character. To me this is a perfect hour of television.
Great reaction, they did such a great job building the world in the 1st season, and now they can just keep ramping up the intensity and get the pay off! Glad you guys are into it
I love how into the show you guys are and I'm so glad you started watching this. This show has enough depth to reward multiple viewings. I look forward to re-watching each episode with you.
A nice detail that was explained more in the books was that the Jiminez wasn’t able to reprogram its PDCs fast enough to recognize the incoming UN torpedo as something it should destroy. It would have registered as friendly to their defense systems.
Nice. I saw somewhere else a discussion about this. Some said that maybe the ship didnt have PDCs because it was small (I dont remember the other comments). Some of the people commenting supposedly read the books, but somehow no one (at least until the last time I checked that thread) mentioned what you wrote. Thnks
That's what I love so much about The Expanse; it doesn't bother explaining all the details, but there are reasonable explanations for almost everything.
When the ensign asks Nguyen how he wants to respond and he walks over to the console to launch the hybrids..this is my all time favourite moment of television. the score gives it such energy and menace

Fun fact: The voice and motion capture of hybrid Katoa was all done by the guy who played the cyborg spy dude from season 1, cause he had experience in mo cap and voicing the main character in the Deus Ex games.
This show kept rising in my estimation long after I saw it the first time, it stayed in my mind for a couple of months, so I watched it again and then realised that I love this show. It now sits equal first in my favourite shows with The Wire that to me has been the beacon of quality writing and character arcs and all that good shit for many, many years.
That’s interesting. I had a similar experience. Really enjoyed it first time through, enough that it pipped BSG as my favourite sci fi, but it was only after rewatching that it took the all time top spot for me. Season 1 in particular I enjoyed much more the second time round (and that was before season 4 cast certain things from season 1 in a new light).
Only thing that you can predict is all of the future "mind blown" moments still yet to come. Just enjoy the ride. Watching you two react to all of this for the first time is the best.
Like The Last Kingdome this show is so much underrated. There should be much more people out there watching this show. A Masterpiece of TV-History in my Opinion.
Game of Thrones, excellent as it was in its heyday, only really had one way of surprising and shocking the viewers, namely unexpected deaths. On the other hand, the Expanse never stops coming up with so many totally different ways of doing it.

Wow, watching you guys watch this episode just gave me enough hype to want to watch this show again from the beginning....again....for the fourth or fifth time. I love this show. Probably recommend it more than any other to reactors.
Yeah, season 3 is my favorite season so far. This is how you do Science-Fiction. Don't get me wrong, I *LOVE* Sci-Fi and Sci-Fantasy, equally. But if you're going to do "realistic", Newtonian-based physics, science fiction, *_The Expanse_* is the standard. The novels this series is based on are so good in their own right, I initially had a concern that they wouldn't be able to accomplish what they have accomplished. Truly, amazing show!
The hybrids are being sent out for the Earth fleet to collect. Nguyen is conspiring with Erinwright because they're very much alike. They both hate Mars, believe in Earth's superiority, have always wanted a war and will do anything to win. But that feverish desire for war has turned around on Nguyen. This season really goes a mile a minute. The next episode is one of the best episodes of the series. And no, there's no way you'll predict where this is going.
All right I'll try to explain without spoiling. "Slingshot Racing" is trying to race a course by using the gravity of moons and planets to 'slingshot' a craft instead of using engines. People gamble on the results. Alex did this in Season 2 episode 10 to evade the ships around Ganymede. This is why the astronauts had to go around the moon in Apollo 13.
Have you noticed the VR app "The Rocinante Experience" before? It lets you walk around the Rocinante plus a few other show locations. I thought you might be interested. :)
So glad you two are checking out The Expanse. It's one of the best shows out there. I think you two would truly appreciate The Knick as well. It's a year 1900 medical drama with lots of sex, drugs, betrayal, political intrigue, racism, religious issues, etc. It's a lot like Breaking Bad.
If I told you it gets even more crazy in the second half of the season.. Next episode is the last one covering that book, there's a massive tonal shift after and it might blow your minds a little, but that's nothing compared to what happens after..
Just think about how we felt when we watched this show on syfy and had to wait a whole week between eps. Also, I think it was about ep 5 when syfy announced it was cancelling the show. Anyone else here from that time to verify? Buckle up, you two, the ride to the end of season 3 is just starting and, as usual, it will be unexpected all the way. ;-) Yes! Kirk Darling! I just found your post.
I might be totally off base here, so I welcome anyone who's better versed in the subject or have read past chapter ten in leviathan wakes (that's where I'm at currently in the books lol) to correct me if I'm wrong. I'm pretty sure the reason why the PM keeps says "can't stop the work" is because it heard Dresden say that a bunch. That was his whole thing. The PM adopted that particular phrase as a way to express it's intentions with whatever it's building currently, which we find out what it's been building at the end of next episode leading into the start of Abbadon's Gate.
Holden: They launched the hybrids. Nikki: Oh, shit. Oh, shit! Oh, SHIT! OH, SHIT!!! 🤣😂🤣😂🤣😂 This is one of the best episodes of the entire series, but 3x6 is top of my list, hands down. Then it starts to get bonkers in the best possible way. Enjoy, guys.
In control? Control is an illusion... the proverbial genie is out of the bottle. Humanity is on the doorstep of the greatest precipice in all of history.
Yes, the reason many people (myself included) like the phrase "Game of Thrones in space" is all the factions fighting and stabbing each other in the back constantly, while only our heroes have their eye on the rising menace of the White Walkers, sorry Protomolecule. But very much unlike GoT, thing never goes on season after season. The Expanse is changing/evolving all the time, and a situation that look like it might last the rest of the season is gone with a snap next episode as the show moves on to new levels of insanity.
I have seen A LOT of shows, and this one is my second favorite of all( behind GOT) and can become my number one if season five and hopefully six continue to be just as good as it has been up to end of four, glad you guys are enjoying it as much as the rest of us
Jose Quiroz the great thing with the Expanse vs GoT is that by the end of this year they will have the complete story, all nine books, to work from. That and the fact the writers are staff on the show, rather than just popping in to write the odd episode, means we shouldn’t get any drop in quality.
The more I watch you guys the more I think I’m like Nikki. Taking notes etc. used to think I was a dude like Steven just being like “whoa this is intense!” But no. Taking notes just like you Nikki. Keep on keeping on guys and thank you for what you do.
More goodies to follow next episode. 😁 honestly though the single finest moment in the whole series happens this season. you think you've seen stuff? you aint seen nothing yet.
this is what happens when good science fiction isnt wrecked by bad TV writers. this show never ever gives into standard TV tropes. every character and sub plot is faithful to the world and not what a TV exec thinks will sell.
That Martian Captain is a memorable small part character.

The PM adopted that particular phrase as a way to express it's intentions with whatever it's building currently, which we find out what it's been building at the end of next episode leading into the start of Abbadon's Gate.
This episode and next best of season 3 imo. Although rest of season 3 is still amazing.
Aaah me thinks that the end of the season is mindblowingly amazing
Can't wait to see what you think of the next one. One moment in particular I think you'll enjoy.
Mentioning not knowing where this show is going.....oh boy oh boy
Imagine, having absolutely no clue :D
And if you've read the books, oh boy! I definitely did not see it coming. Everything gets more and more twisted.
10:55 That’s a good one. I’m going to write that down. Thank you.
SOON ... WORK ... FINISHED
Great reaction! Hang on to your butts...this ride is just getting started! :)
Holden: They launched the hybrids.
Nikki: Oh, shit. Oh, shit! Oh, SHIT! OH, SHIT!!!
🤣😂🤣😂🤣😂
This is one of the best episodes of the entire series, but 3x6 is top of my list, hands down. Then it starts to get bonkers in the best possible way. Enjoy, guys.
This episode is SO reminiscent of Babylon 5 where Earthforce arrives to take command of the station.
You have seen nothing yet. " You know nothing, John Snow"
It gets better. Season 3 was the bomb!
In control? Control is an illusion... the proverbial genie is out of the bottle. Humanity is on the doorstep of the greatest precipice in all of history.
"She's right, but this is fucked" is exactly what I would say about this situation.
Whatever you do Don't Watch The Intro to the next Episode. Major Spoilers.
After that its fine
Don't Watch S3 E6 Intro
Not episode six, episode seven.
S3 Episode 7, not 6.
Skip the Intro for Episode 7
Ohhh just wait for season 4 haha.
Hurry up and do the next one!!!🤣🤣
You are not prepared...
Don't forget Nikki, Steven.... Don't watch the intro sequence for episode seven.
The escalation continues!!!!
I’m with Steven when I started watching this show I taught was going to be Miller finding Julie that’s it. But damn this going to far that I expected
Here we go!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Next episode.......
I think they forgot about the Proto molecules that survive on Venus lol
The more I watch you guys the more I think I’m like Nikki. Taking notes etc. used to think I was a dude like Steven just being like “whoa this is intense!” But no. Taking notes just like you Nikki. Keep on keeping on guys and thank you for what you do.
More goodies to follow next episode. 😁 honestly though the single finest moment in the whole series happens this season. you think you've seen stuff? you aint seen nothing yet.
soon Soon SOON SOON SOOON!!
Littlefinger in space👍 love to hate that dude erinwright
Errinwright is more a Bigfinger with his entire hand in the cookie jar 😁
Can’t wait for the next episode, is in my top 3 for this show (2x5, 3x6 & 3x13 ;)).
Go watch the next episode ASAP, we forgive you guys xD
Who else was there the F tooth fairy. Brilliant line
this is what happens when good science fiction isnt wrecked by bad TV writers.
this show never ever gives into standard TV tropes.
every character and sub plot is faithful to the world and not what a TV exec thinks will sell.
OOohhh damn im excited
