I was in Southend earlier this year. When I saw this video in my feed I thought "Will we see any of the awesome murals?" Sure we did, even saw one being painted! This one brought back some memories.
@@LivingWalksYes, New Zealand Greg :-) We're experiencing Auckland's endless spring-time rain, and jealously eyeing up the glorious day you had for this walk. ♡
Southend is looking rather nice, I like the addition of the fountains and it's good to see the pier train is still running. Thanks again Mike for an enlightening walk.
I can’t take all the credit (thought it’s tempting,) as the most able and delectable Yvonne was helming the camera on this one. It was hard work pushing her around as the shopping trolley had a bit of a wonky wheel, (and her water and snacks weighed more than she did,) but it came out nicely in the end .😊
I used to like hitting Southend up in the 90s, early 00s. Used to be the ole log flumes, barracuda, the shops were buzzing, the vibe was consistently there. Now i look at it (& although its picked back up) it's still not the same. Still i have some wonderful memories of Southy and the times i used to hang out there in the summertime, used to come in from London on the Frenchurch street line. Good times
Ah I understand your sentiment @wrghty, it certainly was a buzzing place, I remember that too. Glad to know you still have those happy memories of the ol' place. All the best to you.
Hello there Anne, well it’s still around for sure but I hear it was a truly spectacular ice cream in its day! I wonder how true it was that one of the ingredients during the war was potato peeling?
@@LivingWalks I'm a war baby... started to enjoy Rossi's late 40s and early 50s. In Southend ,there was Rossi's and Tomassi's. To this day, I can say, never found anything as good as Rossi's Ice cream. .I can still taste it today..Even potato peelings were probably much more healthy when used..more than we can say in this day and age.

Very happy to have captured a little of the town and murals and bring a bit of it back to you Greg. Is that New Zealand Greg by the way?

The seafront is booming isn't it. Good to see. Thanks for showing us around some of the back streets and lesser known parts too!
You're welcome LY&M, happy to bring a little bit of the town to your door.
