      One time, but that was not my worst mistake, mine was getting a Leica IIIc mis-loaded slightly while learning how to load it and it jammed. . Had to go to the Camera Shop and have the counterperson help me get the film out. The gentleman gave me the Leica template to cut the film leader correctly. His kindness was superb! We all make mistakes, I can at least blame Cerebral Palsy spasticity in the quest for the Spastic Image.

    Hi, I have LEICA M6 but I don't know the correct settings in the camera to use so all my pictures ended up blurry and bad. Can you tell me all the correct settings for taking a picture outside when its sunny?

    • @TheBigNegative-PhotoChannel
      @TheBigNegative-PhotoChannel  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      blurry is not so good, of course. The important thing is to keep your shutter speed at and above 1/125 so that your images don't get blurry. This is the minimum speed you need to compensate for the movement you transfer with your hands on your camera. But you should stand still and keep the camera calm. if you have rather unsteady hands, use 1/250 instead.
      If you have set the iso on the back of the camera correctly for your film, you only need to rely on the light meter. look for something scahttige or medium gray in your image and measure there. then just adjust the aperture on your lens until the image is correctly exposed. that's it. :D

    First things first. You have an attractive wife and the red hair fits her well. More importantly she has a good BW photographic eye! I really liked the way her shot captured the shapes and light in that pillar hallway. I liked your shot of the two people on the bench taken through the tree archway and even had the red carriage in the background. I have been shooting film for 65 years. I can’t tell you how often I have opened film back with film not rewound or not completely rewound. Even happened to me recently because the rewind knob did not work correctly. I think all film shooters have done it or will do it.

    • @TheBigNegative-PhotoChannel
      @TheBigNegative-PhotoChannel  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Thank you, yes she has a good eye for B&w scenes. wow, 65 years is really a lot, I like to believe that many exposed films come together in the time. :D

    • @erichstocker4173
      @erichstocker4173 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Yes, I started when I was about 10 years old. I got a plastic kodak brownie camera that use 127 roll film. Not many inexpensive 35mm cameras when I got that one. By the way I wanted to say that love the way that you expose and develop the Kodak Gold. It definitely has more pastel color most often associated with portra. The overexposure really help take down the red, green and orange saturations typical for Gold.

    I thought light leaks gave the film photo more aesthetic vibes xD God that Arcade is a photographer's dream ahaha that architecture porn! your reaction to exposing your film by accident was less dramatic than i expected xD Fake Venice gives great mood, as a non architect, i can imagine this place to be very nice once seating is packed!

    • @TheBigNegative-PhotoChannel
      @TheBigNegative-PhotoChannel  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Hehe, yes if your picture is a single lightleak then it will be difficult with the aesthetics :D Yes the arcades are really great and weimar is full of them. I almost had sunstroke before I opened the camera. 🥴 That's why I was less annoyed than normal. I've been to the real Venice before so this form of Venice copy sends chills down my spine. 😆

  • @Bonsees
    @Bonsees 3 ปีที่แล้ว

    Wow, I thought because you have to pull out the bottom of the Leica camera, it’ll cause more light leaks, but it’s surprisingly clean! The pictures are great as usual, love how you made use of the shapes from the sunlight and shadows in your compositions 😆

    • @TheBigNegative-PhotoChannel
      @TheBigNegative-PhotoChannel  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Thank you bon 🙏, Yes I also thought that in the lower part of the images really everything is gone. However, the Leica wraps the roll so much that almost no light comes to the side. I have been shooting digital for a long time in a "protect the highlight" style. So shadows are really important to me in the composition even if they are not quite as visible in my current style. 😁

    • @TheBigNegative-PhotoChannel
      @TheBigNegative-PhotoChannel  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

    • @oneafi8940

    • @TheBigNegative-PhotoChannel
      @TheBigNegative-PhotoChannel  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@oneafi8940 naive perhaps not. The question is rather what is important to you. You can also get Leica lens quality with the Leica R system. The lenses I use are not even from leica. the voigtländer lenses are also available 1:1 for nikon cameras.
