I'm currently on week 15 of 21 in the Immersion program. We're about to start the Data Structures and Algorithms section. It's been great so far. I've learned so much. They're not lying when they say you'll be coding for breakfast, lunch, and dinner lol.
I'm about to start a 7 month long cyber security boot camp through Thinkful. Going to meet with a mentor twice a week and learn important skills. I'm also a cyber security major that's 54 credits SF from my bachelor's. Hopefully when all of this is over, I'll be competent and ready to perform at a high level.
33:44 "If you don't know what's going on in a regular JavaScript page or a regular HTML page - you're not going to know what React is fixing and why it's better or what's going on." - this realization is very important / and proves that he's going to be just fine! : )
I'm a current full-time Thinkful Engineering student. Some of this information is already out of date. They don't have coding pairs anymore; they have groups of 4-5 that change weekly. You could easily make these Bootcamp reviews yearly, or even bi-annually.
Thanks for the update! That's an interesting idea.. I'll consider it for a yearly option. If I did that, I would want to be a bit tougher on some of these coding bootcamps. To start with, I'd 100% dive into the data. I feel like the 2020 series of videos is really just an experiment to ask some general questions and listen to what people really want out of these videos.
Wow probably literally the most comprehensive yet casual review about bootcamps there is! Thanks man! And I’m seriously thinking of signing up for thinkful this week! Would u recommend thinkful, based on your knowledge? I have been coding myself for 2 years. All front end. I want to continue just FE if I can. I have done NuCamp also
It is too bad, mainly because of what they could have gained. One thing to keep in mind though is life is full of surprises that can affect commitment. Sometimes life events come up that make it close to impossible to continue such as unexpected emergencies. In this video, one thing we talked about is how, sometimes, coding bootcamps are too blame for not setting realistic expectations of each student. Too often, coding bootcamps bring in students who just aren't ready.
44:57 "By the time I was done, I still had zero how to layout a website with an aesthetic that was really appealing at all." But / they didn't really promise that...
My only issue with this is there are programs charging not much more with more person to person interaction as far as teaching goes , idk if I could justify spending that much to be just reading to and teaching myself. I think I’ll stick with colt Steele’s udemy course and just building some projects along the way.
@@ManuelLopez-ev7ud I would have to do a little more research and acquire his lesson plan form the bootcamp to say that for sure , however I can say it’s a comprehensive course where you will learn multiple different tools not just the basic Java script html css, so far the course has been good and I havtn had to go back through stuff a second time but on a few more complicated concepts
Thanks Don! this is very helpful interviews and feedbacks from actual almn who attennded the boot camps.
this video was OUTSTANDING. thank you

That's awesome to hear about your experience. Thanks for sharing. Don't forget to take breaks!
Did you take the full time course?

Is this a boot camp one could go into with no prior experience?

@@DonTheDeveloper oh, yeah! With each passing year, you can get more granular with your interviews.
@@douglasede9300 did they update the material
@@bryancruz3173 yes. But as mentioned in the video, they still teach className vs hooks. So I wouldn't say we're on the cutting edge as of now.
Thanks sooo much. I start the Immersion program on Jan 18th and this was very helpful.
You're welcome. Good luck!

Dam that last section really hit home. I am harder on myself then I have ever been on anyone else.
Same
One of the graduates had to payback $40,000 for a $1500 monthly stipend that was only for 5 months?!!?!?!? O_O
O_O
Plus the 16000 tuition. It's still paying back 40k for 21.5k, which is a lot, but it wasn't just for the 7.5k

Love this video! But can you make a new video review for ThinkFul? I’m pretty sure things has changed since this video has been created
There's actually a form link in this video's description where you can request a review.
Not sure if this was asked & I missed it but do you have to pay interest on the stipend &/or $40k? If so how much is it?

I do my best to provide you with information, but ultimately, that's a choice you have to make for yourself. Do you feel like Nucamp wasn't enough?
Too bad to know that there were students who dropped out because they cant commit to learn..

I just got his Udemy course today. Is it truth that on Colt’s course you learn everything he teaches on his immersive bootcamp?

Do you need to be from/in the US to study with Thinkful?
I have no idea. You'll have to reach out to them.
This is outdated but I'm a grad and they won't rip you off
When did you graduate and did you find a job after graduation?
0:22 - :45 is priceless*.
Thinkful just pay for the necessary things like food, rent, and something like that. They don't pay you for chill jajaja
