- HP Lovecraft Cthulhu music ambience 1920s Jazz Playlist Part 1
'Why Cthulhu?' people keep on asking? Check out the other Lovecraft ambient SFX mixes I did: • HP Lovecraft Nameless ... .
People started asking for the songs by themselves, so here they are.
A soundscape for a short film, set in HP Lovecraft's 1920's Cthulhu mythos.
Humming to Myself -- Chick Bullock -- Faithfully Yours
My Sin -- Ben Selvin & his Orchestra -- Am I Blue
By A Waterfall - Jack Payne and his Orchestra. 5:59
I'll Always be in Love with You -- Belle Baker -- Belle Baker (Encore 1)
Annette Hanshaw-Love Me Tonight - Annette Hanshaw, Vol. 2, sound recording administered by: INgrooves 11:40

And the final Part 4 is here:
• HP Lovecraft Cthulhu m...
I don't know who this Cthulhu fella is, but he has a pretty good taste in music!
I kid, I faintly know that he is some kind of monster?
***** My friend cthulu is a monster a myth created by a great writter HP Lovecraft the author of the book 'at the mountains of madness' and other fantastic books.
So I see. Lovecraft has the same facial expression in every single photograph taken of him, he also exhibited symptoms of Schizophrenia, do you suppose he really believed what he wrote?
***** it would have been sad if he didn't believe in it
How do you figure that? If I believed any of that I'd die of heebie jeebies
For a kid growing up in the 2000s with the original Tom and Jerry series and now a Lovecraft fan, 20s Jazz really is something special
It took me a while to make that connection back to my memories of Tom and Jerry. It's been so long
Love it! But it's mostly 1930's. Here are the titles and some of the artists:
Hummin' to Myself - (written in 1932)
My Sin - (written in 1929)
By a Waterfall - (1933 from the film "Footlight Parade")
I'll Always Be in Love With You - sung by Belle Baker 1929
Love Me Tonight - sung by Annette Hanshaw 1932 (love her!)
Thanks for turning folks on to this amazing stuff!
Came here for school project on the 20's. Found "Cthulhu Ambience Music". Not even mad.
Not even slightly insane?
oh, you will be..,,
Always something chilling about coming home to an empty house with old jazz playing somewhere in the background.... I love it
How often does that happen to you?
@@oxymoron02 you arent frequently in a large empty home with an old record player playing jazz
It's a nice idea. I live alone I should put a timer of some sort to start playing old jazz shortly before I am supposed to come. Gotta find a program on my pc to do it
It’s probably because the ghosts were old when they died and some old music just starts playing out of no where it’s creepy
every stage of bioshock
I first listened to this in Cannery Row while eating clam chowder and watching an ominous fog roll in from the harbor. I come back to video every now and then to remind me of my old hometown.
Come to the fabulous Gillman Hotel in wonderful Insmouth...a lovely sea food menu, and interesting locals...or if you prefer...take a glorious trip to the enchanting Dunwhich. And then there's the undiscovered colors from who knows where... not to mention the storm from beyond and the Dreams in The With House...or......something like that ;)
Hey dude nice advertisement for hell on earth after dark love that story.
Lovely insmouth ha Devils reef
_TripAdvisor reviews of the Gilman House, Paine St., Innsmouth, MA_
Robert Olmstead - "I did discover my family tree, but, several people tried to kill me, and I had to run across town with a map from a store clerk to not get MURDERED." - 2/5
Jack Walters - "There was no bolt on the door, the food was awful, and then I had to run through all the rooms, frightening an old woman, (Who looked like a fish), in the process, trying not to get shot by the locals." - 1/5
Lucas Mackay - "I....Don't want.......To talk." - 1/5
I've been stuck in Innsmouth for a while, its peaceful ambience has kept me enraptured. I think i have found my self in a new religion as well.
6 years on and I stumbled across this and used it in a Call of Cthulhu game. Humming to Myself played in a creepy mansion, the record starting by itself. I added some reverb and muted the track so it sounded like it was in another room a fair distance away. I also started it with a big record scratch. Thanks for the upload!
most gangster fuckin tracks i ever herd. im thugggin to this as we speak throwin sets and bangn jhhhhhhhhhhhhhhu hurd
damn dawg
They were real gangster back then, "see!"
True, but what this soundtrack is truly about (the Cthulhu Mythos) is something far, far more nefarious and dangerous than gangs and mobs.
This is the trap music from 1920's
In his house at R'lyeh dead Cthulhu waits Jazzing!
This was one of the first ambiance’s I got into on TH-cam. What a glorious nostalgia trip.
Great to hear it! :D
This... is actually rather interesting. Most people think of ambient music as background music, but few actually remember the music that would be playing at that particular period of time. Great selection, reminds me of the swingy tune called Smile at Me they made for the Call of Cthulhu: Dark Corners of the Earth game.
The music also reminds me of Bioshock ambient music and I love it. I wish this kind of music never faded away
I was just thinking that myself!
Also great for running a Bioshock Infinite homebrew :D
Make sure you check out the other playlists then. :)
Ah, I was thinking about the first game while I was listening!
0:00 Humming to Myself
2:53 My Sin
5:58 By A Waterfall
9:29 I'll Always be in Love with You
11:40 Love Me Tonight
I remember those old Bugs/Tom and Jerry cartoons - back when you still had real ultra violence in cartoons. Now you only get it in Itchy and Scratchy.
You are my favorite. I was looking for ambient jazz for my Call of Cthulhu game.
Ducktapeperson Check out the ambient mix playlist with SFX included - perfect for RPGing.
I am oddly fond to 20's Jazz, its just great
If someone were to ask me what my favorite music was, I would say classic rock because I've always said that. However, the older I get, the more I love this music. It reminds me of riding in the car with my grandfather. How wrong I was to dislike it back then. Cheers to you all and thanks for posting!
1920s jazz, best music ever...
I am 21, it's 2013. It's Saturday midday, sunny. Humming to myself...
The 20s look like a magical time, so long as you had some money.
Gatsby Status lol
Hmm. Why does that sound so ... familiar?
Why do I feel nostalgia when I listen these song and look these picture ? I never lived in 1920
Listened to this on my way to play some CoC and this was just perfect for getting me in the mood. Now time to try and not day.
This is more or less my audio background for my Cthulhu.
I just love to see my characters invest in bonds. As if they thought they could survive an Ancient One.
Papa Momotte "my Cthulhu" ????
DinamarcaBall_AIC_Omega Maybe he is talking about his Cthulhu RPG campaign
i was not born close to this time im from 1994 but gosh i love this music its so amazing nothing like todays music i can listen to this for hours and hours and not get tired of it im glad i got to fall in love with this type of music.
A nice start to 2020.
Two of my favorite things...Lovecraft and vintage music!!
Some of this stuff crushes my heart.
These videos are great. Thanks for posting them. These songs are mostly from the early 30's with a few from the late 20's.
Love & Victory?
or should I say
_LoveCraft_ & Victory~
Looked up 1920s jazz, this is what I was exactly looking for.
Love the video and the music, admittedly the first thing that comes to mind is noir/detective, not HP Lovecraft but it works for all situations. Fantastic!
Fallout 3 = 1950s, HPL = 1920s/30s.
I thought Fallout 3=1940s
What's HPL?
TheGunser98 Im p sure the music’s time range is from 30s - 50s
@@ValiantSkyRider720 Howard Philips Lovecraft.
Call of Cthulhu: ~1925
This is also good to read Gravity's Rainbow! It balances the pain of the reading.
Awesome, I'm setting up for a Cthulhu game coming up soon and this, along with the other ambient stuff you posted is exactly what I've been looking for
I love the 1920's i like to see that era because a lot of music in that time were original and not crude.
// I do have to say this is some pretty good music. I like to draw and listen to this type of music. Also, it is very calming genre of music. :)
This is one of the secrets I keep from my other friends. Gosh, people suck in middle school :(
Dude now you're a college grad. How does it feel?
i wish they still made music like this
This is perfect for a horror film
I use these playlists for my tabletop horror roleplaying games :)
It reminds me of old Bugs Bunny and other cartoons. They were still popular in the late eighties when I was a kid, and this type of music featured prominently.
Listening to this in quarantine 2020💙
sounds like the background music from the tv series" Tom and Jerry"
What you think i dont know tom and jerry?
Pretty good refrence ngl
im like 12 years old but I love the 20s music its so catchy
How can somebody be "like" twelve years old?
cymruadam I'm like 35 years old, but sometimes I act like 12 years old.
I mean I am 12 XDXD
nathan coulson XDXDXDXDXDXD
IKR!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!11
This is ruddy mysterious.
Great selection of songs.
Thought the music is definitely of its time, its quality and appeal are timeless imho.
ok so what's the name of the song at 5:59 and who is the artist? .. much appreciated ....
so far that I've read here...
the 1st song is... Hummin' To Myself by Chick Bullock
2nd song is... My Sin by De Sylva, B. G., Lew Brown, and Ray Henderson, 1929
3rd song is... in question...
4th song is I'll Always Be In Love With You by Belle Baker
5th and last song is Love Me Tonight by Annette Hanshaw
thanks so much for posting this music @ Tristan Hall!
Ambrose and his orchestra
By the waterfall
Jazz back then is way better than 2013 for my opinion
This was great for a scenario I set out: A party at a mansion. The host goes missing, and one of the players being a detective, will attempt to solve it. I wonder if they'll find the dimensional shambler in the wine cellar...
Tom & Jerry!!!
these songs take me back to my childhood!!!!
Jack Payne - and thanks!
Don't worry, you'll be older and meet proper friends with similar interests eventually. I'm in university and here at least nobody really bats an eyelid if you listen to early 20th century jazz and swing.
The greatest music is from the 1930's. The 40's and 50's don't even come close. Listen to pax41 's uploads. I made a playlist called ' Some of the best pax41 uploads in my 'umble opinion! '
' By a Waterfall ' is in the 1933 film called ' Footlight Parade '. HD7100 plays a nice rendition on his Wurlitzer pipe organ in his house. I play organ as well so I encourage everyone to give organ music a fair listen. Laurens Hammond invented the Hammond organ in 1934. 30's music sounds beautiful on it!
Wow this is exactly what I've been looking for! Thanks so much for compiling this!
I'm literally reading call of cthulhu and was looking for background music
Question: What would the system for crediting you or using your music in a liveplay CoC game? Trying to put together some music options for a live stream!
You could say that I (Tristan Hall) assembled and mixed it, but I don't own the rights to any of the actual music, which is why TH-cam advertises all over it. :)
Beautiful Music
Thanks for putting all of this together.
You're most welcome, more jazz playlists on the way soon, hopefully.
Cthulhu is awesome
I love this music
Hey me too! ;)
most gorgeous combination.. thank you so much
Anyone who consecutively magines end of the world scenarios and/or H.P Lovecraftian horrors to this music has more than a little bit to worry about lol
I absolutely love this. Thank you for posting! Can you pretty please list all the songs in the description?
forgot to add - automatically subscribed!! I love it keep up the good work. Tristan hall you got good taste
Thanks for the comments, Troll - sounds like you had a cool class on the 20s.
Love. Thank You.
Can I get a link to the very first song (Hummin' to myself) separately? (either in a youtube video or better yet, a download link for the mp3) This particular version I've been looking for but I can't find it anywhere else other than this particular video. And I'd also love to know the artist.
what a relaxing play list superb sound
Thanks Ray, be sure to check out the other playlists too! :)
THANK YOU FOR THIS.
You are most welcome, Riley. :)
I love this song!
He's got a point though, I mean, I said to my friend that I would listen to it whilst playing fallout as it sets a similar mood
I made a Lovecraftian soundscape with 20s jazz (you can find it on my channel also) mixed in and received many requests to post the jazz music separately without the SFX. So I did. :)
Great music.....Thanks!
Thanks !
Welcome!
Annette Hanshaw sang "love me tonight"
I searched "Miskatonic Jazz Ensemble" and this came up.
Listen to FM4 (Austria) online, they play many different styles and explain everything very well.
I listened this song while looking my old cats picture and that make me cry
Fuck
i can conclude that most of us enjoying listening to this music because of three hypothetical reasons:
1) We have very good ears when listening to any type of music even if you didn't existed.
2) We are nostalgia nuts - we love anything old, cruddy, rusty and yet heartwarming like your brain is on cloud nine floating to the sounds of yesteryear
OR
3) We DID lived those eras and when we passed we were then reincarnated back to life in another era... or maybe history/timeline through our ancestors, great grandfathers/mothers - in short its in our blood.
& for others that don't enjoy any of the eras (which is impossible) then they were reborn as bugs or something, jk
Guitarlord013 Im only 15 but when I heard At this type of music It makes me feel super nostalgic
All 3 reasons resonate with me!
Guitarlord013 awesome comment, and everything of it is true :)
Gonza Di Donato same I just think I have a deep connection to music in the 20s because of these reasons in the comment. I allways get a comforting feeling when I hear it, I really just hope that in my past life I lived in the 20s...❤️
Will I go mad listening to this?
@SnowyCupcakeNinjah It's called "Love Me Tonight" and it's brilliant!
Awesome! Thank you very much for posting this.
I hope you have Al Jolsen's 1913 rendition of 'You Made Me Love You' in here somewhere.
Poor Robert Black.
Our intro and ending music for every Call of Cthulhu Game. Tututu tu tudududu
¡¡¡Bravo!!!

Nice!! I was looking for music, for a game of Arkham Horror. Lets just say this is perfect. Ill try to make a playlist with those song and some more darker music for ambiance. Thank you!
Jackpot !
You are most welcome. Remember to check out the other tracks too!
@MichaelHTillman thank you, sir!
This is an awesome combination. Is there a way to get this playlist? Thanks for pulling these together for us.
actually this is great work music :)
Humming to Myself
Who is the Artist for that version of Humming to myself? Excellent playlist as well.
This is fantastic, thank you for uploading it ^^ Could you put a tracklist on please?
@SoRadItHurts I believe it was Jack Payne and his Orchestra.
What is the name of the first track? Thank you ;)
That third song really remind me Tom and Jerry music. Those oldest cartoons.
This is awesome!
