Stuff like this is why I feel so protective over this man that is protective to so many others. I appreciate both how open he is about his issues and how much he has worked to overcome them.
I always say it's so funny how Woosan especially mess with Seonghwa the most- but, they both have been the ones to actively go against people who try and attack Seonghwa. Wooyoung, especially, proving himself by addressing Atiny directly to not attack Seonghwa when it's happened a few times in the past. And San saying he'd protect Seonghwa on a variety show they did. Then when someone threatened to spray acid on Seonghwa at the water concert, you could see some of the others watching the crowd more than usual and looking back at Seonghwa every so often. Then you have the others constantly boosting his sense of self as much as they can in different ways. Even forcing Seonghwa to admit he's a visual in Ateez. Ugh. This man needs to be cherished and I'll never understand why Ateez still get hate to this day- but, especially Seonghwa when he's so sweet and wholesome. He's struggled enough and now he needs to keep growing and thriving. Beautiful man both inside and out.
That's what I've been thinking too like you know how some siblings can "fight" or tease each other a lot but when someone who is not family they all "gang" up on you and protect each other... That's how I feel about the members especially woosanhwa
Seonghwa has / had (possibly serious) self image issues, HOWEVER (as someone whos atiny since 5 years) i feel like he could overcome any burden, hes so much more confident every year and when i see clips like this it doesnt rly make me sad anymore, im just proud of seonghwa, hes strong and sensible and we shouldnt worry too much about him and instead admire how he always betters himself :>
I'm also a long-time atiny (celebrated 4 years last on Saturday!) and I'm so incredibly proud of Seonghwa. He grew so much as a person and it's really admirable
The thing about anxiety and "complex" is that it always surprise you when it happens. We can seldom predict what triggers it, and can barely hold on when it happens, it really does feel like a sudden tsunami attack n usually we think "eyy this is nothing, why would i be affected by this" but yeah...having anxiety sucks huh Anyhow, im so glad Hwa found such a great team and soulmates who are willing to protect him even when they are confused. I hope he got lots of hugs n cuddles after their schedule ended that day
He's making me sad at 3am 💔it's common sense that this industry is toxic af, but it's a whole different matter when you hear your favs actually talk about the shit they went through and how much it affected them :'(( He sounds so vulnerable it's breaking my heart. Luckily we can feel a bit better knowing he has moved past that & the members got each other's back.

There’s an expectation that you have to always appear perfect in front of others and if you’re not completely made up, you fear people will discover you are a fraud. I think that’s why Seonghwa felt so insecure & afraid people will see what he really looks like without makeup as a protective shield. I feel as they got older & more established, he gained more confidence to feel more secure within himself so he can present himself to the public with or without makeup and not worry about his appearance.
Seonghwa is genuinely one of the most beautiful people I know, but his appearance pales in comparison to how kind and nice he is. I hope he has learned to love himself a little better, he’s such an inspiration. And I’m glad he was able to find his 7 members that adore him so much.

It’s sad when a public figure needs to always look good on camera. They themselves think that they will look bad or unprofessional if they don’t follow the entertainment “rule”. Yes they should be an inspiration to others but not forcefully. They’re a human being too and they can do things like others do. I can see Seonghwa’s low self-esteem and unconfident because of that “perfection” that everybody wants. I almost cry my eyes out when he said all 7 members protected and calm him down even if they didn’t know the reason. That’s true and strong support that he needed all along. I wonder what happened and what he had to endure for him to be so self conscious about his bare face... like, he's one of the most beautiful beings I've ever seen, with and without makeup, I'm almost tempted to say he's no human because he's so angelic, so for him to react that strongly with that much fear that fans would leave him because he was bare faced... someone must have messed him up horribly and for that, Dante will send them straight to hell! such a pure heart and soul, there's no way he could ever be anything but beautiful, no matter what he looks like!

He talked earlier in this live about how in HS, he thought of himself as the greatest, because he was in his dance group. But then when he became a trainee, it was a reality check for him that there were lots of other talented people too, so his self esteem dropped. He also talked about how his facial hair would grow so fast, he’d have to shave twice in a day, before music show recordings, and then again before the live show. I’m sure that was stressful for him, as facial hair isn’t seen as appropriate on an idol. Now he gets treatments for it (which lead to this whole conversation about being barefaced, he has a treatment that day and didn’t want to show the marks on camera). Mix in his eczema which was really bad back during those early eras as well, they had to cover the wounds on his neck with makeup, and you kind of have the perfect storm of stuff he felt insecure about during that time. Thankfully he feels a lot more comfortable now and even enough to tell us all this 🥺

Creo que el problema se generó no por los estándares de la industria sino por los comentarios de muchos fans en sus presentaciones o videos, de los cuales el 80 o 90 % solo están dirigidos a alabar su belleza y/o declararle su amor por lo hermoso y perfecto ( físicamente ) que es, endiosan su belleza , los menos son para alabar su desempeño en canto, baile y presencia escénica . Así que es probable que haya sentido que si no luce a la perfección los fans se iban a defraudar y abandonarlo. Por suerte lo ha superado o lo está superando, ahora muchas veces aparece sin maquillaje y hasta despeinado totalmente seguro de si mismo , sin duda es un hombre muy hermoso y atractivo. La belleza atrae pero es su personalidad y talento lo que atrapa.
I relate on this so much. I have the same anxiety whenever i go out barefaced. I don't want to randomly meet someone from my school on the street when i don't have makeup on. At my school, it's not allowed to wear makeup but my makeup skills are good so even teachers and people around me can't tell if I'm wearing makeup. seniors always compliment me bcs i look cute and most of my junior tell me I'm pretty. I even have my own fan club at school bcs i really active at school especially for extra curiculur activities. That's when i started doubting myself. Little did they know, the face that they see everyday are just a cover up. I never tell anyone that i actually wearing "full faced makeup" and sometimes people do ask if I'm wearing some Concealer or blush, i hardly admit it. I just couldn't be infront of them without be covered. I also wondering.. What if no one gonna pay attention to me anymore What if people start avoiding me What if they think im ugly What if my friends stop liking me.. well.. i didn't even have any bestie I once go out without makeup back then, it was long time ago. It shocked me how i got treated differently than when I'm wearing makeup. I lost my confidence then.. beauty privilege made me scared of showing my own face I hope seonghwa will never feel something like this ever again. I understand the feeling.. it's scary. You're a beautiful person, i hope you know that seonghwa. Atiny will always love you no matter how you are
