I know Xiaoman sometimes disappoints BUT if you consider the dilemma of the heroine in this drama you'll see how effective Liang Jie portrays her role of not letting herself be second best as she deserves to be the Wife and not just a concubine! Besides who wants to see her husband be with someone else? That's what she's setting her foot in for. :). She does not want to be just someone else's shadow nor share her husband to anyone else! :) Can we blame her for that? ;).

Why would Xiaoman's role has the intelligence but not use it? In the early episode, she tried to approach Hanchen and he was in the middle of a football game, so she got hit in the head and got knocked out. Hanchen many times showed her that he has feelings for her and does everything to protect her and she even agreed to be his concubine, but she is still acting like she is an unmarried woman. She walked with another man in public to enter a brothel. She was not thinking that it was not appropriate and that her action will ruin Hanchen's reputation. 🤨 If I were her husband, I'll divorce her.
By the way Xioaman is doing things reminds me a little bit of how Shiyi from The Sword and the Brocade did things and she ended up regretting it. I hope Xiaoman won't regret it later cos what she's doing lying to her ML is already creating unnecessary problems and drama to her relationship, she'll suffer the consequences later... Cos thr ML really loves her but she's taking advantage of that, he's not treating her like a concubine but she keeps causing trouble and embarrassing him.

I don't know why even one is so angry at the FL we drama watchers see the whole thing she only sees what she wants to. She hated him when the first met then he tells her he married her to escape another. Making a woman who never wanted to get married a concubine basic ally ditto in their society. Yes she doesn't have properity by her standards and her day but remember she will not have the life she wants with her current situation. Even if he loves her that is not really any of her business especially since he tricked her into a marriage but kissed her twice without her permission or confessing.
What I don't understand is why he let her get away with so much in the first place. As far as the hierarchy goes, he should've put his foot down long before this. She should've known better than to do the things she was doing, but as was stated, she is uneducated and was in school for education. I think they are both to young for marriage which is why this show doesn't work, and personally every episode I'm looking forward to Boyang and the cousin rather than the main characters. It's like watching a very young high school couple dysfunctional American family air out all of their dirty laundry.
