    Hello and thank you for this explanation. I have a question: Why do you use only raised altered notes? From my point of view I would consider only Ma as raised note (f sharp) indicated by this little longer line at the top right. The four other alterations are indicated by an underscore. Instead referring to the raised western note below it seems to be obvious that it is equivalent to the flattened note. Re flat is not the same as C sharp. It should be D flat.

    • @GSynthMusicaFlute
      @GSynthMusicaFlute  5 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Your idea towards notes are clear.. in hindustani music style there are four note komal re, komal ga, komal dha and komal ni. Note with underline. Only one teevra swar name Ma teevra. In western notation five notes sharp or flat i. e. C# = Db, D# = Eb, F# = Gb, G# = Ab, and A# = Bb.. one note two names.

    • @gitarrenpost
      @gitarrenpost 5 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      @@GSynthMusicaFlute C# is only the same as Db in the equal-tempered scale. In just intonation they are different. So your suggestion "one note two names" is not korrekt. It is more like 'two originally slightly different notes are both detuned to fit in one place on your instrument'. This former difference is indicated by the name. On instruments like Sarod or Violine you still produce this difference. If re equals D than komal re should equals Db. In western notation you can not simply change the name. For example: the Bb major scale is Bb C D Eb F G A Bb. If you exchange here Eb with D# the scale makes no sense or is nonsense: Bb C D D# F G A Bb
      Or let us look on an Indian scale: for example the scale used in charukeshi. S R G m P d n S'. If Indian Sa is western C than we will got these: C D E F G Ab Bb C and not C D E F G G# A# C. Am I wrong?
      Thanks for your answer and the time to provide it. Best regards.

      @@gitarrenpost you are great sir. I think if guitar intonation is good then sound on twelve fret will be E A D G B E... it must be correct. Then check C# and Db are same A# and Bb are same... check the note on Keyboard or piano. Idea will be cleard about notes. I saw some people says B# and E#. In this case B# means C and E# means F.

      Margarida macgregor Why would he do that when he’s a Hindi-speaker addressing his Indian audience? Anyway he’s simply explaining the Western system of music theory, to Indians who normally train on the different, Indian system. He’s not explaining Indian music theory. He’s explaining Western theory.
      If you want to convert the Indian system to Western, you can google for charts that lay out the roughly equivalent notes.

      there he wrote three major scales
      the first line was : C major
      2nd : D major
      3rd : E major
      he compared the western notation with classical notes
      thats all. I wish it was a help. 😊

      It looks like he's saying that the notes sa re ga ma pa dha ni sa can be converted to different western notes depending on the scale you're playing in, but sa is the 1st note of whatever scale you choose, re is the 2nd note, etc. For example in the C major scale sa re ga ma pa dha ni sa = C D E F G A B c.

      There are 12 notes in music, A, A#, B, C, C#, D, D#, E, F, F#, G, G# (B and E do not have sharp (#), thus 7x2 - 2 = 12 notes). These notes are absolute, i.e., they are fixed on any musical instrument (piano, harmonium, guitar, etc.). Also, there are octaves, i.e., you have different sections in the instrument that have all these 12 notes, but differing in pitches (frequency doubled). Now, sa-re-ga-ma-pa-dha-ni-sa is a movable scale, that is, you can start 'sa' from any note. For example, if you start from C, it will be C, D, E, F, G, A, B, C' (by C' I indicate next octave). Observe the sequence: you start at C, skip one note (C#) and go to D, again skip one note (D#) and go to E, then do not skip any note and go to F (since there is no E#), then again skip one note (F#) and go to G and so on. Thus the sequence from the 12 notes that makes up sa-re-ga-ma ... is: 1-3-5-6-8-10-12-1' (1' is in next octave). Now, if you start 'sa' from D, what will we have? Apply the above sequence: 1=D, 3=E, 5=F#, 6=G, 8=A, 10=B, 12=C#, 1=D' (next octave). Thus, you can start 'sa' from any note, and progress according to the formula 1-3-5-6-8-10-12-1'. Each note is the starting point of a 'scale', and a singer will chose the scale according to his/her vocal range. The 12 notes make up what is called 'chromatic scale'. Hope this helps.
