  • Planning to fly in or out of #TheNewSLC for the first time? Check out this short video that provides an overview of how to navigate the new facility. Be sure to plan plenty of time because not only is the new airport bigger, you'll want to check out the new shops and restaurants.

    Super nice. Can't wait for the rest of the airport to be finished, and, get to travel through it myself whenever I fly again

    No description at all of the parking system. Need a video that shows the flow of traffic from I-80 to each of the parking options, then the path into the airport from each of those options as well.

      Yes, it’s a huge oversight. Also if there’s a “upper” level to enter and exit, then there’s likely a lower one for dropping off and picking people up. (looks like a bad design, at least before, it was extended great deal at curbside. Maybe it’s more, maybe it’s less, I haven’t been out there yet, but there’s too much “all in one place“ area.
      At least they don’t have the demonic, violent art of the Denver airport, complete with the double-entendre of the statue of the white horse of probably what they suggest is the Broncos...but fitting more closely the white horse in Revelation...which goes with the rest of their creepy art.

      @@misskim2058 the upper and lower level, dividing the pickups and drop-offs is actually a great design. It has been used at many other airports, and helps ease congestion, dropping the departing people right at the ticketing area, and pick-ups right outside the baggage claim area. It's the roads and parking lots that are confusing, requiring a knowledge of the bus system to access the economy parking lot.

      While there is not a video with that information, all of that information is available on the Airport's website:

    Are smaller planes like Frontier and Alaskan Airlines still using the old terminals? Or are they in concourses A or C?

    • @SLCIntlAirport
      @SLCIntlAirport  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      All of the old terminals and concourses have been demolished and Phase 2 of The New SLC is being constructed where the old airport once stood. All airlines are operating out of the new terminal and two new concourses.

      A few years ago I personally told them that they needed to build a tram like in Denver. At the same time I told them that they needed to build a secondary tram as well that would take people down each concourse. They basically told me that they had professionals that knew what they were talking about but yet they didn't care about how disabled people would have access. Yes they should have a tram not only to get you from concourse to concourse but a trim that would get you up and down each individual concourse. If they would listen to disabled people's experiences and actually care about providing real accessibility that may be a different thing.

    The new Salt Lake City international airport is not 100% ADA accessible. Going between concourse a and concourse b if you're in a power wheelchair and your low on battery power because you've been traveling a great distance it is not a very good solution for accessibility. This issue has been brought up and passed along to the airport quite a few years ago but yet at the same time it is not been listening to by the city of Salt Lake City which owns the Salt Lake City international airport. It would be better to have a tram system like in Denver that would run people back and forth between the different concourses. Please listen to disabled people because the moving walkway idea is not suitable if you are using a power care or if someone has balance issues that person is not going to be able to use the moving walkways very safely plus there are other disabilities for the moving walkways are just as dangerous.

  • @jamesbeck691
    @jamesbeck691 3 ปีที่แล้ว +7

    Simply put: for someone with a balance and back problem, this is not any kind of an improvement over the previous design. I had to walk over 1/2 mile, no available shuttles, on and off moving walkways, etc. - terrible. TERRIBLE! The only thing I can say if you have physical problems your only option is to use a wheelchair with attendant. Make sure you tell the airport to pay the attendant well, because I don’t think ADA people should have to pay for the airports poor design. I can only hope the airport somehow improves the situation.

    Worst airport terminal ever if your a passenger needing to connect flights. If you have hip or leg issues good luck getting a wheel chair and there are no electric carts. One in tunnel is almost never available and the moving walkways are the shortest in any major metro. Whoever designed this sucks and the mayor says everyone needs the exercise.
