I love it when friends or family hand over a box or a bag of books to me. I've always been the first person they think of when they have a pile of extra books to give away. When I was a teenager (don't ask me how long ago that was, it'll just depress me) my uncle gave me a box of those pulp sci-fi, fantasy, and horror paperbacks from the 50s and 60s that he'd collected. The titles in that box were so diverse and eclectic, they've afforded me inspiration for story ideas of my own for decades. Some were really well known (Asimov, Clarke, H.P Lovecraft, Poe, Ashton Clark Smith) while others were super obscure. That collection just blew me away.
I read Love, Hate, and Other Filters for a class in college, and while there are some heavier real-world themes, for the most part I remember it being a classic YA coming-of-age story that was easy and fun to read!
I have learned over the years that I actually don't get anything out of sibling relationships in books, and plots that revolve around that. I guess it seems obvious now but they don't make me feel anything. Like its a big "i dont get it" vibe and its not for me
This could be the result of only child syndrome I'm afraid.... hahaha. I can certainly see why it wouldn't do much for you. Best friend books tend to give me a similar feeling though if that makes you feel better!

I enjoyed the Magisterium series but it definitely feels like a Harry potter rip off lol
ooooof good to know!
Be careful with Cameron Post! I heard it’s good, but that it’s also about conversion therapy 😬
YES thank you for pointing this out. My friend who gifted me the books just told me about this. Very misleading from the cover and back text.
