Love the new Logo, it looks fantastic! I am starting to think my want list is too broad, I think marooning it to 10-15! makes a lot of sense. The meet and great and walking the show with friends is the beast part of the experience.
The new logo looks awesome. Best part of the National is definitely the people you meet, the cards are a bonus. As i get older, i find less is more, meaning i focus on quality over quantity. Hope to see ya there!!!
One other thing, I find that a draw string backpack works really well. Plenty of room to hold all your purchases and hard for someone to get into without you knowing!
I had a string bag that I would wear like a backpack at local shows, but I thought it wouldn't be comfortable to wear for several days. I didn't think about a backpack, though. The fanny pack is a tremendous fashion statement, though!🤣
With the way I collect I would go with option 1. Buy as many as you can. Then again I collect low grade cards so I can have more of the cards I want. Which ever way you go I hope you pick a Musial rookie.
I’ve got a similar budget for national and making similar decisions between one big thing and a lot of things. I’ll be making a video about it soon. I do like getting one bigger thing but not sure how I’ll feel about being done after one purchase. We’ll see.

Nice logo. Looked up the National; '95 at Cervantes Convention Center. In hockey circles it was called the Chuck " Norris" division. Nice holograms. We talked about strategies for the National, both choices work. Next year is Chicago, maybe I'll go, start saving your $ !! Gretz is a good one, he's on my list as a possibility. Enjoy the national man. I always go to shows with a list, but use it as a back up plan in case I don't see anything else. Most often I bring home things that I've never seen before or something I didn't know even existed, so I think being open to new items is wise at huge shows like this. Good luck in your search!

In case you decide you want it after all. I have been to the ‘94 National in STL as well plus the last 3/4 it has been in Chicago.

Great video! I have similar thoughts about what I want to do with my budget at the national, and I would suggest a happy medium. If I were in your shoes, I’d probably plan on about $1k to $1.2k on a big purchase and then the other half on smaller purchases. That way you get a little of both! That is my plan at least.

One thought for you, and I’ll paraphrase Dr. Beckett here: it’s good to leave a show with cash in your pocket. They have cardboard and you will have cash. Besides, you may come across a cool item at an antique store or the Bird museum on your way back. We may not cross paths at the National, because I won’t make it there until about noon on Saturday. But I’ll keep my eye out for you. Bummer about the Bo Jackson. Take care.

Maybe the Neil Smith RC is in that Supplemental set as well as Dermontti Dawson and Sharpe? Thanks for sharing some hits from the 1991-92 UD Hockey box! Hopefully you got the gradable RCs you wanted. Nothing like those 1980's-1990's NHL players! Almost everybody could fight. The Wings/Av's rivalry was bonkers to see on live TV every game. When it all broke loose with Patrick Roy and Mike Vernon even fighting, you're arguably talking the craziest rivalry in sports history. I'm hoping you can find a dealer with 2-3 of the cards you want, he cuts you a bundle deal and it leaves you some change to score a few lesser cards as well. But a Gretzky RC at the right price would be tough to resist... Don't forget some old-school budget wax!

I got most of the rookies I was looking for, but I didn't get a Lidstrom Young Guns. I can't remember if they were in the 1st or 2nd series. Blues and Redwings were crazy back then, too. Curtis Joseph faught Tim Chevelde one game. There was another game where they had 180 penalty minutes in a game or something crazy like that. Blues and Black Hawks were crazy too. @@billyballgamesportscards The best! Gritty and tough but also the best scorers and playmakers overall. Guys in the 1980's and 90's had 100 pt seasons and didn't even make the All-Star team! But you also had guys scoring 50 goals and 100+ points in the top-ten for penalty minutes!
Skaght is awesome! Really like the new logo. Hockey just isn't the same anymore, refs break it up way too soon. The fights were one of the cool things about hockey. Just something about black eyes, stitches and missing teeth made me feel like they were the toughest athletes out there. I still love all sports, but they all have become pussified to a degree...lol I grew up watching in the 70's and 80's mostly and I miss seeing catchers getting bowled over but thanks to the Posey rule we don't see that anymore. The owners have too much invested into these players to let them possibly get hurt and I understand that, but it still sucks as a viewer. Lastly, Whether you buy one card or four cards, go with the card or cards that speak to you. You'll know it when you see it, being patient is the key. Gretzky would get my attention as well if he wasn't on a list of mine and an iconic card for sure.

I feels good to finally have some spending money for my hobby. Having 3 children late in life also cut in to that a bit, but wouldn't trade them for anything in the world for the exception of a 1952 Topps PSA 10 Mantle. 😂😂 Just kidding or am I. 🤣😂🤣 I also have a Griffey Jr. PC in common with you and although mine is pretty nice, I do not have the auto'd bat which someday would love to add to it and even though it cut in to your national money it was probably well worth it.
