How to Apply Gold Leaf Flakes to Make an Amazing Greeting Card

Talk about gorgeous! Gold leaf flakes take your paper craft projects up a notch. Today I'm going to teach you how to use gold leaf flakes and make a beautiful card at the same time.
The Fine Art Floral Designer Series Papers are pretty enough to frame! And on one of my cards I did just that. The 'Art Gallery' Stamp set by Stampin' Up! is so easy to use and makes beautiful flowers on greeting cards and scrapbook pages.
Since Stampin' Up! brought back the 'Heat and Stick Powder' I couldn't wait to apply gold leaf flakes to make a beautiful Wedding card! I've got all the how-to's you need to know in the video tutorial; you'll find using the gold leaf flakes super easy.

@@TxStampinSharon Soooo I made a bunch of flowers and leaves...but the leafing seems as tho it isn’t sticking? If I press too hard with my finger nail I can push it up? Is this normal? Does it take a while to “set”?
@@marywright49 Make sure that you rub the gold leafing into your adhesive. It should not come off. What adhesive are you using? The heat and stick works the best as does the Tear and Tape.
@@TxStampinSharon I used the heat and stick. I think I need to heat my powder just a bit longer?

Hi Sharon....Could you use a glue stick to accent our images. I have a lot of floral stamps that are just single stamping and I'd like to add a bit of gold leafing to them. Love your video. I have the floral art suite and I'm going to make a card like this one you demonstrated. I think it would make a beautiful sympathy card. Thank you for sharing.
I honestly do not know if the glue stick would work with gold leaving. I am assuming that's what you mean. I always say give it a try! I am so pleased you enjoyed my video and that you are inspired to make one too! You are very welcome!

Beautiful work Sharon! What is the difference between 'heat & stick' powder and embossing powder? Can they be used inter-changeably?
Thank you so much. No they can not be used interchangeably. The Heat and Stick Powder is more of a glue that you can have in the shape of an image. The magic happens when you heat it slightly! The embossing powder simply is embossing. It's not sticky when heated.
I used one of the new ink blending brushes and it removed the extra gold beautifully. I just keep it on the lid of the container I put my foiling into.

I have been using the gold leafing and other colors for a long time. Do you have to use the sticky powder or will it work over just versamark? I use double sided tape and the gold leafing when i need a pretty straight line for something. You said the acetate and papers match but how would you use those together? Loved your video!! Thank you
No the Gold Leafing needs to have an adhesive like the double sided tape or Heat and Stick Powder. While Versamark is tacky it isn't and adhesive. The acetate has the same pattern as the DSP. I layed the Acetate on the DSP and cut them both at the same time to 4" x 5 1/4"
Hi nice cards you showed. I thought what if you use dies on wide double sided tape, to make different shapes for gold flakes.. Did you try that? Or does that not work proper? Thanks for your cards
Thank you! You know you sure can cut the double sided tap with dies. I would not use punches as it would gum up the punch. You are very welcome!
Maybe wipe the jar down with an Embossing Buddy before filling it?

Your heat tool is so quiet, what brand is it please?
It is a Stampin' Up! Heat tool. And just so you know I did mute the sound. It has two heat settings. One for Vellum, one for cardstock. You can see it here www.stampinup.com/products/heat-tool

2. Scrap White Cardstock
3. Scrap Colored Cardstock
4. Scrap Different Color Cardstock
5. Ribbon
6. Stamps: flowers and leaves would be great!
7. Ink: 4-6 different colors
8. Snips
9. Paper Trimmer
10. OPTIONAL - White Embossing Powder, Heat Tool
As long as we have to have masks around, maybe wearing one would keep us from accidentally blowing the gold leaf away!

The gold leafing is just too messy for the results. I use gold paper - much easier and just as pretty.
Sometimes I love messy! But you are correct about using the cold paper! Hope you enjoyed my video!
