Love that I’ve found someone else who’s right at the start of their NuWho journey and that I get to follow along with each new video. Also love that you seem to have watched the newest season and then decided to go back to 2005 and watch it, and that makes me thrilled because there are so many iconic moments that I’m looking forward to you witnessing for the first time. Might have to go back and watch your reactions to Ncuti’s season, just based off what you’ve said here. I love that you’re loving it already, Rose is my favorite Companion, and I hope you continue to love this run.
Ur in for an amazing ride, so many iconic doctors and moments, it’s less of a Disney feel it’s more serious but also funny too, also I feel like the reactions of people are more realistic, like rose reacting to the doctor and the tardis
I have to say that it is REFRESHING to see a fresh whovian speaking fondly of Gatwa's run thus far. I'm looking forward to seeing your reaction to the redt of the series.
@mayotango1317 The algorithm is cracked then as it keeps pushing the negative reactions on me. I haven't seen Gatwa's run yet, but I'm sure he's doing a great job.
Lots of planets have a North is apt as Chris is from the North, Born in Salford, Lancashire, England. Wikipedia: Christopher Eccleston was in Our Friends in the North a British television drama serial produced by the BBC. It was originally broadcast in nine episodes on BBC2 in early 1996. It tells the story of four friends from Newcastle upon Tyne in the NE of England over a period of 31 years, from 1964 to 1995.
I'm smiling so much seeing this.😊 Also, when the Doctor deactivates the arm in the apartment, I believe he's making a joke when he says "There you go. See? 'armless." Using that way of saying "Harmless".
Excited that you have started from here. It’s going to be interesting watching you react as you have already watched Ncuti’s Doctor. I hope you enjoy it as much as I have.
When i first watched this, I had been waiting with great anticipation. After so many years without Doctor Who I was hoping it would be great & live up to my expectations. . I loved Chris Eccleston. As soon as he took Rose's hand & said Run, I knew I would like the series. First new Who series is still one of my favourites.
I'm glad you are enjoying it so far, as this series has a place in my heart(this was my first Doctor 😊). The only information I will tell you is that Rose's mum is called Jackie, and that her boyfriend is called Mickey.
A great dip in to classic would be the very very first episode An Unearthly Child part 1. Its 25 minutes and is still extremely compelling. I dont really recommend the other parts in that particular serial tbh, but part 1 is the perfect pilot. Plus it has the real Susan in it which may be interesting as a Ncuti era introduced fan!
Oh heck! I actually forgot -- now I'll see him everywhere. Or look for hints of him. Which, even though they didn't actually put them there will now start to appear. It's all a bit timey-wimey!
I can’t wait to watch these. 9 got me hooked on the show over a decade ago, and his performance is incredible. Enjoy the ride. It’s a trip of a lifetime.
u have a POV nobody else here in the chat has or will have, your first impressions of DW are brand new and u get to explore the stuff we love with new eyes and also eyes nobody else has access to. if you then begin following classic Who I will be very very very impressed, you are a new type of fan. And I subscribed cos I am so damn intrigued, if you go through my subscribtions you'll see I almost almost NEVER follow reactionists.
Gotta love watching the show in the past and remembering the future season for comparison, very in keeping with this show. So excited to see you go on this journey! Btw you nailed pronouncing Christopher Eccleston's name 😌
You mentioned maybe watching some classics. Here are some relevant stories: _Terror of the Autons_ (S8, 1971) features Autons (living plastic) and UNIT. _Pyramids of Mars_ (S13, 1975) introduces Sutekh. _Paradise Towers_ (S24, 1987) is probably Mel's best classic appearance.
After Series 2, I'd recommend watching Torchwood as well. Part of the universe and just as wild. With it's more mature themes, it can explore a lot more than Doctor Who can.
Minor show detail: In the opening credits as well as the show as well, the time vortex color (red or blue) means which direction the TARDIS travels in.
Yes definitely watch the pilot An Unearthly Child 1963. Spearhead from Space was also a terrific first 3rd Doctor story 1970. City of Death with the fourth Doctor is a very popular story 1979.
As someone who has watched all of Classic Who (or at least, everything that isn't missing) several times over and loves it all, I do feel like it's a lot easier for people to bounce around from this Doctor to that Doctor when taking it in for the first time. You want to talk about beans on toast. OK, here's how Brits view them… Ah, behold the humble tin of baked beans, a veritable Pandora’s box of comfort and nostalgia! With trembling hands, you seize this metallic chalice, knowing full well the delight it holds within its confines. As you peel back the lid, a heady aroma wafts forth, like memories of childhood picnics and rainy day lunches encapsulated in tomatoey splendor. The saucepan stands ready, a knight awaiting its noble charge. Into this vessel, you pour the beans, a river of amber and ruby flowing forth, promising warmth and sustenance. The hob flickers to life, a dragon breathing its gentle fire, coaxing the beans into a simmering dance. Ah, the sizzle and pop, a symphony of sustenance, each bubble a note in the melody of anticipation. Now, to the bread, that canvas of golden potential! Each slice, a blank page upon which a culinary masterpiece shall be writ. Into the toaster they go, descending into the fiery abyss to emerge reborn, transformed into golden slabs of perfection. Watch closely, for the line between toast and char is as fine as a spider’s silk, shimmering and delicate. The bread springs forth, victorious and golden, the very sun captured in culinary form. With a flourish, you spread a whisper of butter, its creamy luxury melting into the toast’s warm embrace like a lover’s tender kiss. And now, the moment of union, the crescendo of this gastronomic symphony! The beans, now bubbling with fervor, are ladled generously onto the toast, each spoonful an offering to the gods of comfort food. The toast, sturdy and humble, bears its burden with grace, soaking in the savory goodness. A pinch of salt, a dash of pepper, and lo, the transformation is complete! But wait, there is more to this tale. Should you desire, a handful of grated cheese may be strewn atop, a snowy mantle that melts and mingles, adding richness to this already decadent feast. Ah, but the journey does not end here. For those who seek adventure, a splash of Worcestershire sauce or a hint of chilli powder may be added to the beans, infusing them with an exotic flair, a touch of the unknown. Thus, you stand back and admire your creation, this simple yet profound dish. Beans on toast, a testament to the beauty of simplicity, a dish that speaks of home and hearth, of love and care. And as you take that first bite, you are transported, lifted upon the wings of flavour to a place where comfort and contentment reign supreme. Bon appétit, dear friend, bon appétit.
@@TheCagedCorvid That's very kind of you to say, but I really can't take credit. Full disclosure - that was ChatGPT doing something it's actually quite good at. (Apart from the picnic - that was a bit off-pitch. I noticed it too, but what the hey.) I'll try posting a link below, but yT tends to decline URLS, so just in case, here were the prompts. 1. A straightforward recipe for beans on toast, please, with UK measurements and terminology. 2. Now take that recipe, including the tips, and rewrite it as a dramatic monologue, with plenty of purple prose and imaginative similes and metaphors.

A lot Who fans sleep on Eccleston, but he remains one of my favorite Doctors. He was a great choice for the revival of the series. I've been a fan of Doctor Who since I first saw The Fourth Doctor (Tom Baker) episodes on American PBS television as a kid. I never looked back. Doctor Who was my first franchise, and is still one of my favorites. BTW, if you have access to American streaming services, most of the Classic Who episodes are currently available for free on Tubi. They're structured very differently from NuWho; every 30-minute episode is a cliffhanger, and each story has four to six parts. Lots of fun.
I am SO looking forward to this, i really loved your reactions to Ncutis season and I'm so happy you're going back and getting the full NuWho experience!! It will be such a joy to rewatch the show along with you and see your thoughts on it :)
Something you've already seen in series 14 is the use of pop music like “Roam” and “Can't Get You Outta My Head”. You get a considerable amount this season, and once a season for the rest of his initial run
my favorite theory about this episode is that the doctor left 30:17 and traveled a few years alone after this then one day was like i wish rose was here and came back and mentioned the time travel bit.
watching a story per doctor for the classic series is a good way to get a taste of all of them. though for the first doctor, id recommend doing the first two stories, as they were about equally instrumental in establishing the show.

@@chriszone50 except every episode has its fans, you do it this way you might miss out on what would be your favourite, and fan opinion is hardly reliable given how many rate talons 10/10, the only story I couldn't finish
I mean I agree its fun to go and watch old Who in order - and I feel like, if he still enjoys the show after he finishes nuWho and newest Who - that should be the way to go. I do still feel like watching some few episodes jumping through different Doctors would be ok as complimentary adventure with nuWho. It let's you enjoy some references and recurring characters more even, if you don't know the context of older Doctors.
im so excited to see you react to the first season!! christopher eccelston was my first doctor and still my favorite and i cant wait to see what you think of the rest of the episodes!
You don't know how hyped I am for this! I hope you keep making theory and speculation videos for your reactions on this. 🤭
ONE OF US, ONE OF US
I was a fan of the original series from the late ‘70s onwards, up to its cancellation in’89. I still think of ‘Rose’ as ‘new’….. hard to believe it was transmitted almost 20 years ago now! Oh Lordy, I guess I got old!!
When you think about it, nearly as much time has passed now between the original series cancellation and this episode, as has passed between this episode and now
Oh yes! I am glad that we're starting in 2005!
Welcome, “NuWho-vian!” SO excited to be a vicarious Companion on your journey. *Fantastic* reaction, can’t wait for the next one - just liked, subscribed, and turned on notifications 🤗 Edit: Spelling/format
THAT'S MY DOCTORRRR. Aw, I hope you love it all! I adore this season.
Fun fact: Rose's workplace, the building that blows up at 8:00, is the same building that had the giant snowman that fell on the 15th Doctor in The Church on Ruby Road!!
In Cardiff !
And so it begins. Can’t wait to take this journey with you!
Many reactors and others love the Gatwa's run. Is the Bowlestrek/Will The Fan/Nerdrotic fanboys who complains for complains.
@mayotango1317 The algorithm is cracked then as it keeps pushing the negative reactions on me.
I haven't seen Gatwa's run yet, but I'm sure he's doing a great job.
It's so fun to watch someone watch one of my favourite shows from the start (NuWho, I haven't seen the classics) for the first time
Lots of planets have a North is apt as Chris is from the North, Born in Salford, Lancashire, England.
Wikipedia:
Christopher Eccleston was in Our Friends in the North a British television drama serial produced by the BBC. It was originally broadcast in nine episodes on BBC2 in early 1996. It tells the story of four friends from Newcastle upon Tyne in the NE of England over a period of 31 years, from 1964 to 1995.
I'm smiling so much seeing this.😊
Also, when the Doctor deactivates the arm in the apartment, I believe he's making a joke when he says "There you go. See? 'armless."
Using that way of saying "Harmless".
This makes me so happy, I can’t wait to relive this series through your eyes 💗
Excited that you have started from here. It’s going to be interesting watching you react as you have already watched Ncuti’s Doctor. I hope you enjoy it as much as I have.
Yesss you are in for a treat. A wild, crazy, tonal whiplash, at times frustrating and yet overall, FANTASTIC treat!
The fast paced music goes so hard and rose's theme which will be so hard hitting later
The intro of this video was really cool, loved that compilation leading you to this point :D
Yay so excited you are starting on this series you are in for a ride!
His one constant companion "sutekth" 16:10
Oh heck! I actually forgot -- now I'll see him everywhere. Or look for hints of him. Which, even though they didn't actually put them there will now start to appear. It's all a bit timey-wimey!
Chameleon circuit that's broken/frozen on the Public Police call box, the perception filter is so everyone ignores it, mostly. :)
Yes!!!! I've been waiting all day!! So excited for this journey, you're gonna love it!
I loved this show from "Nice to meet you, Rose. Run for your life!"
I can’t wait to watch these. 9 got me hooked on the show over a decade ago, and his performance is incredible. Enjoy the ride. It’s a trip of a lifetime.
I am so excited to go on this ride with you! I've seen Doctor Who so many times but it's always refreshing to watch it through someone else's eyes.
u have a POV nobody else here in the chat has or will have, your first impressions of DW are brand new and u get to explore the stuff we love with new eyes and also eyes nobody else has access to. if you then begin following classic Who I will be very very very impressed, you are a new type of fan.
And I subscribed cos I am so damn intrigued, if you go through my subscribtions you'll see I almost almost NEVER follow reactionists.
"She walked so Ruby can run." Hey, Rose runs. (She's not even my favorite, but they all run.)
AAAAY LETS GOOOOOO
So glad you checked out the beginning of the revival! I love the way you compare 9 and 15.
Gotta love watching the show in the past and remembering the future season for comparison, very in keeping with this show. So excited to see you go on this journey! Btw you nailed pronouncing Christopher Eccleston's name 😌
You mentioned maybe watching some classics. Here are some relevant stories:
_Terror of the Autons_ (S8, 1971) features Autons (living plastic) and UNIT.
_Pyramids of Mars_ (S13, 1975) introduces Sutekh.
_Paradise Towers_ (S24, 1987) is probably Mel's best classic appearance.
Watching series 1 with Chris Eccleston and Billie Piper for the first time? Lucky man. You're in for a treat.
Yep
The aitons haunted for years as a kid ! The classic version ( yes I'm old) by the way. And loving your Intro to DW is lovely!
Excited to see your journey! Super enjoyed your reactions to S14 and I can’t wait to see what you think of all the previous Doctors!
Oh, this is gonna be fun! Enjoy!
Geronimo! Welcome to the fam!
Clive’s line - “He has one constant companion: death” - takes on a WHOLE different meaning after the whole Sutekh reveal
After Series 2, I'd recommend watching Torchwood as well. Part of the universe and just as wild. With it's more mature themes, it can explore a lot more than Doctor Who can.
Everyone loves 10 but 9 is my Doctor. Series 1 is my favorite season of Doctor Who ever! Eccleston was fantastic in the role.
Minor show detail: In the opening credits as well as the show as well, the time vortex color (red or blue) means which direction the TARDIS travels in.
I loved watching your reactions throughout Ncuti's run, so count me in for New Who era ! 🤩
Yessss! The wait is under!!🎉
Yes definitely watch the pilot An Unearthly Child 1963.
My first experience with Classic was also out of order, so I can confirm it's still quite a fun way to watch. Below I have made a pretty comprehensive (and long but hopefully easy to use) list of the stories people are most likely to ask for (as well as some of my personal favorites 😉) for you to look at whenever you are ready... please don't feel pressured to look at this now, just copy and save it somewhere so you can come back to it later when you feel you are ready to begin your Classic Who journey. Thank you and enjoy!😃

I saw the older Dr Who series when I was younger and Christopher was my kids first Doctor. It was great to see their reaction too. You will love the rest, I guarantee ❤
You want to talk about beans on toast. OK, here's how Brits view them…
Ah, behold the humble tin of baked beans, a veritable Pandora’s box of comfort and nostalgia!
That, dear friend, is a literary masterpiece... bravo!👏
I do have one question for you though... who takes beans to a picnic 😳🤔
It *has* to be tinned beans from the UK because the U.S. version doesn’t taste the same! (Too sweet)
@@TheCagedCorvid I had a friend who took a can of beans on a hike. A picnic honestly doesn't seem too different in contrast.
@@nodroGnotlrahC the only acceptable use for chatgpt lmao 🤣🤣🤣
You get used to the Doctor changing - I started watching from the first episode in 1963. 🤣
I'm glad you've gone back and enjoyed what you've seen so far, you've got a wild ride for you. Like others have said I hope people don't spoil things (people LOOVE to spoil things for doctor who reactors). I look forward to seeing more reactions
Ok now that you’re starting from the “beginning” I’m subscribed
NICEEEE. I've been watching a lot of golden eara Dr Who reactions lately, but this is the main on I've been looking for
A lot Who fans sleep on Eccleston, but he remains one of my favorite Doctors.
YES THIS IS SO SICK
Something you've already seen in series 14 is the use of pop music like “Roam” and “Can't Get You Outta My Head”. You get a considerable amount this season, and once a season for the rest of his initial run
my favorite theory about this episode is that the doctor left 30:17 and traveled a few years alone after this then one day was like i wish rose was here and came back and mentioned the time travel bit.
I am soooo happy. I can't wait to see your reactions.
watching a story per doctor for the classic series is a good way to get a taste of all of them. though for the first doctor, id recommend doing the first two stories, as they were about equally instrumental in establishing the show.
OHHHH !! C'est genial !! Merci pour ça ! J'espère que tu vas adorer !
I'm so glad you decided to do this :)
I hope you'll have a lot of fun!
I am so happy that you are reacting to Doctor Who :D yay
My first Doctor was the 4th, Tom Baker in 1974. I love Doctor Who and I am soooo down for watching this!
Yes another Doctor Who reactor!! Have fun and enjoy!!
so excited for you man!! this show’s gonna change ur life 😭😭
I absolutely love your reactions like “cut it I'm out” 🤣🤣🤣💀
LET THE JOURNEY BEGIN! The best companion is Adam, HANDS DOWN.
Anyone coming in to disagree is wanting to spoil it for Ugo
Adam got so much development. I loved it when he did the iconic Adam dance and Adamed all those Dark Warriors to death, brought a tear to my eye.
@@littleredruriHe always came back in a snap
Adam is beloved!
@@littleredruri There is actually a comic where Adam becomes the most powerful villain in the universe
I was 5 when this episode aired and it changed my life. I'm so grateful to see your unique perspective on these stories coming from the new Season 1.
Just found your channel, love your reactions and excited to go on the journey of seeing you experience the revived series!
