    Bro! You saved me so much money and time! I watched your video outside of another hardware store, called HD, drove there, got the floor stripper and did three rooms for $60 within six hours. Thanks!!!

    Greetings from Louisiana! After watching your video, I went to Home Depot and rented the scraper you used. I couldn’t believe how easy it removed the vinyl tile in my home! I used it in my kitchen, then on my bathroom floor, which had two layers of old vinyl tile that had been impossible to remove by hand. I’d tried a heat gun, hot iron, chemicals, everything. Nothing else worked. This machine removed the bathroom tile in less than an hour.
    Now, this scraper won’t do every bit of the work for you. You’ll have to give it a steady push, especially with stubborn vinyl. The machine also vibrates, so be prepared to be vibrated a bit. But once you see all that old tile coming up, you’ll realize that renting this machine is one of the best decisions you could make. It’s fun to use!
    The one I rented is called an Edco scraper. It’s the exact one used in this video, just with a different name. Probably the same manufacturer.
    Thank you kindly for this video. I’m going to rerent this same scraper when I’m ready to remove the tile from my other bathroom.

    So, to people watching this video: You can just use a blow dryer or heat gun to melt the glue. It's much, much easier than using brut strength. It also doesn't leave much sticky residue. FYI.

    Great video! For the sticky residue, to be able to crawl around on it I use floor patch powder and sprinkle it by hand then spread it with a broom. Then I'll skim coat the whole floor with the same patch compound and that eliminates the stickiness, and smooths everything over.

    Peel and stick tile IS a disaster to take up. I used a heat gun and a putty knife. The subfloor which is concrete was a bit tacky in the end. Killed the tackiness with a goo gone solution and all was good.

    Thanks for another fine video. We are going to pull up the old tiles and replace with new ones. There is always the outline of the tile cause from dirt getting in there so we want to clean all that off as well. We were thinking we would do sections at a time, clean off the dirt lines then sprinkle baby powder over the sticky residue then seal it with that floor prep liquid. Is this a good way to do it or will the baby powder mess with the ability of the glue on the new tiles to stick even with the floor prep. Or do you have a better way to do it? Thanks.

      Tip: Installing Vinyl Plank Flooring Waterproof in existing bath with peel and stick tile. (no use for glue remover underlayment is your choice.)
      Take up tile, dust the floor with flour use a scrub brush in a circular motion
      The flour will dry up the glue, sweep up mop easy and lay the planks. Maybe paint the floor to help seal. I watched the floor guy work concrete after removing tile he swept up dirt from other parts of work area threw it on glue and floor buffed with wire brush. Said he used also used fine sand. That’s where I got the flour idea, I used in our bathroom. Worked quite well, Wife told me to use All Purpose flour self-rising might cause the new floor to buckle. After 30 years you learn to say ok Honey and nothing else

    Hi! Just wondering why peel-and-stick vinyl flooring isn't a good idea since in the beginning you mentioned it's dreaded, if one were to use a subflooring between the actual floor and the stick flooring, would that be a better idea? I'm renting my apartment and I'm looking for a renter-friendly way to change the flooring.

    • @FloorsbySouthernboys

    • @FloorsbySouthernboys
      @FloorsbySouthernboys  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      I don’t believe you will have too much luck trying to use that on a wood floor, I think that the blade will probably just try to dig in to the wood, that is just my guess I have never use that on anything but concrete

      @@Jimmy_Cavallo It was a while ago, but I did it! I bought a bottle of goo gone at Home Depot and applied it to the floor, then removed it all with lots of paper towels, then degreased the floor with isopropyl alcohol. The modern goo gone is a lot more effective than the older version and it doesn't smell as much. The results are great, the floor is smooth and non-sticky. You'd still have to ventilate as much as possible and wear a respirator, especially because of isopropyl alcohol.
