  • English - The W Class Tram here in Melbourne is an icon both here in Melbourne and around the world. The Burgundy Liveried City Circle Trams have all now been stored and will be converted to W8 status.
    The W8 upgrade strengthens the body, renews the passenger saloon and gives the driver a whole new driver control and air conditioning for the first time.
    Here is a look back at the W class trams that I have filmed over the last few years both on route 30 and The City Circle Route 35. Featured are the route 30 green and gold service trams, The Burgundy City Circle Liveried Trams and the converted W8 trams.
    A couple of things to note -
    for a period of time, the City Circle ran out of North Fitzroy Trams Depot on route 96
    reconstruction work at Port Junction and Batman Park forced some W class trams to run into Southbank via St Kilda Road
    Footscray Road route 30 and 75 terminus has been used to stable trams when Southbank Tram Depot has not been accessible.
    New Uploads Weekly -
    ** THURSDAY Afternoon TRAINS
    ** FRIDAY Afternoon PLANES
    **SATURDAY Afternoon TRAMS
    Filmed between 2011 and 2018 Melbourne CBD.
    Filmed in HD

      @@Schony747 i was very fortunate enough to visit the Melbourne to ride the City Circle tram one of my many trips during my 2 week visit but most all i was so very impressed the W class tram was beautifully to good running order. I also did a visit to the Melbourne Tram Museum at Horthorn and that was quite interesting collection of the different types of trams.

    Magnificent video!
    Great to see SW5.846 here. Caught it on the City Circle in 2013 when it was the second oldest tram in Melbourne, was probably my best ever tram ride, the motors sounded better than any other W class.

      There's a W2 class tram at the Sydney Tramway Museum. It's done up to represent what might've been the livery for the Canberra Tramways, which never eventuated. The tram is #249, pictured on page 27 of the Sydney Tramway Museum Souvenir Book.

      There are a number in preservation but W class tram was originally built for the Melbourne network.

    The burgundy trams provide a touch of old-time elegance, and that appearance should be preserved. The green ones just look old and perhaps historic, but that orange one was butt-ugly.

    • @Schony747
      @Schony747  6 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Yeah I reckon the Burgundy looks pretty good. While the green and gold is traditional, I think the burgundy CC looks better.

    Hey schony is the north Fitzroy tram depot still open or closed?

  • @CitywideGarbo
    @CitywideGarbo 2 ปีที่แล้ว

    do the green ones still or is it only the brown trams now?

    • @Schony747
      @Schony747  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Burgundy trams went to tram heaven and were rebuilt as a W8. As a result the converted trams were converted back to the original cream and green livery. So no brown or Burgundy coloured trams run anymore

      Must be the editing software as the raw video is always OK.

    • @neilforbes416
      @neilforbes416 6 ปีที่แล้ว

      Do you have any other software installed for video editing? I have Corel Video Studio Pro X9, Pinnacle Studio 18 as well as Cyberlink Power Director 9 Ultra and 14 Ultra. Each has its various uses. Windows Movie Maker is there(as part of the Windows 7 package, but it's not much chop when you compare it to the others).
