Wheat crop is one of the most important crops of Pakistan. Variety of seed used plays a key role in better production of crop. If we select a better and resistant variety, it will resist different diseases. Selection of perfect wheat variety for a specific soil condition and area are among the determining factors to achieve higher yield. Variety should be heat resistant so that it may not shatter, when temperature begins to rise at the final stage of wheat crop. Variety should have bacterial resistance so that it may not fall a prey of a disease causing lower production rate. Old varieties should not be cultivated because it becomes less resistant to several external factors. Moreover, newer varieties are less affected by the herbicide used to control the weeds in the field. If a better weed control is achieved in time at an earlier stage, then it will guarantee the higher yield of crop.
