Concept cars are basically a mockup of a dream that no manufacturer could build & sell profitability.
I believe the Chrysler was the main design influence for the VW Karmann Ghia.
It indeed was.
Completely, and well documented.
Ghia's designs were unmistakably unique and easy to recognise. I owned and extensively restored/customised a VW Ghia, which to me is one of the most beautiful cars made. Notice the great rear visibility on those old cars? These days it's all headrests and C pillars in the rear view mirror.
Amazed I didn't know about ANY of these. Thnx for posting!
Such works of art. Gorgeous.
❤❤❤❤❤❤cool cars, thanks
1954 Plymouth .. the grill that you said looked like a Jaguar, actually came from an Austin Allegro Vanden plas.
these great designers pushed the envelope..and would be difficult to choose one of these..priceless
I like this video pd evolution
6:21 Hi PD Evolution. 👋
Great video & some Cool cars. 💯
The 1956 Oldsmobile Golden Rocket is my Favorite.
The lines & body style, so sleak & smooth. That car would make a great land speed race car. I'd turn it into a corner carvin' retro mod.
Still waiting on that Firebird 🐦🔥 video my man. 😉 Keeps it up brother.
Much 🤟 PD Evolution. 💯🔥🥃🍻🙏🍜
Thanks so much!
Красиві автомобілі. Дякую ❤️
So it seems the clip maker is a big fan of ghia
5:00 Am I the only one who sees the '56 Rambler Palm Beach tailfins echoed in the '57-'61 Studebaker Hawk models?
Of course, the '56 Lincoln _Futura_ became the TV _Batmobile._
The Packard _Predictor_ is conspicuously absent. Likewise _The Grey Wolf_ and the _Balboa_ and _The Request._
Think it’s sad we once had the choice of so many beautiful looking cars and yet we’re stuck with the boring and bland plastic rubbish we have today.
Some of the Italian designs (not all) were fine. However I prefer the Chrysler 300 and the Packard Caribbean. As to low production coupes and concept cars, I'll take the Muntz Jet.
In the U.S. and UK, coupe’ (coopay) is pronounced coop.
Any reason why Ford didn't put the Indianapolis into production?
All these were concept cars, but the Studebaker starliner coupe that became the Hawk was a production car that kept Studebaker alive for several years. I am saddened that notable coupe wasn't included to show what these concepts were aiming for.
Chrysler did build 26 Dual Ghias one of which Sinatra had. Dual Ghia looks very much like the Ghias here. 🚗
Interesting video, but, IMHO, you could have stopped after the Chrysler/Ghia collaborations at the beginning.
5:15 Training note for your AI voice: It's pronounced "Alfa roMEo".
6:20 I note you don't give a designer for the "Golden Rocket" and with good reason; it's ugly as sin. I suspect it's Billy Mitchell, but I can't confirm that. It has so many things wrong, it looks like they had three or four concept cars in mind, but only budget to build one, so they stuck everything on it. The worst offense is the little vestigial fins alongside the back window. WTF? Fins, if you must have them, go on the tail end of the fenders since they represent the vertical stabilizers on planes or rocket fins.
Good tastes also evolved. Beautiful.... most are not. Dearing is perhaps a better description
They are gorgeous. I think modern cars are super ugly. Different strokes for different folks.
That Oldsmobile was fugly.
Unfortunately elegant coupes was not a forte for American motor cars.
I disagree. Eldorado, Riviera, Toronado, Thunderbird, Lincoln Mark II and III, Imperial Crown Coupe, and many others. While not every year of these models have been winners the best of them are the equal or better than anything coming out of Europe in terms of elegance and design.
I would rather call them "7 most grotesque freak cars"
What about modern Japanese cars, with a front end that looks like the characters in the old Herman/Unger cartoons that used to be in the paper. THEY are the grotesque freak cars.
That's like your opinion man.
@@rickrandom6734 Yes. Of course it is my opinion. There are so many beautiful and very aesthetic coupé designs from the same period from brands like Lancia, Ferrari, Jaguar and Porsche that caught my mind when I think about "7 Most Beautiful Coupé Concepts Of The 1950s"
How old is this Imperial palace has been gone from Vegas for years
