If i find a good amount i usually bring it back. Char it with either fire or solar. Larger pieces do go for fair amount of time. Punk wood can be good resource to consider, and is a recoverable resource for fire.
i know you can make a lot of different configurations out of your tarps, but making it look like a toolshop is incredible. lol. please tell me that punkwood in a tin will be on your website now. thanks for sharing.
Could you make a hand warmer by adding a few small holes to the can to keep the ember going. You might get caught out and need something to help keep the core temp. Up. Just thinking.
this may sound off the wall, but could you possibly induce and or accelerate the process that creates what we call punk wood? the stuff is great, charged punk is even better, but I find at least in my area, it can be a hard to find resource in any sizable amount.
Yes it does come apart easily. In this case I wanted to cut it to fit into the Altoids Tin, that was the only reason. It's nice to have it in a tin I think.
from what I know, this tinder is created by a dry rot process induced by a fungus or bacteria. only theory I can think of that still has problems is maybe stump remover. but that is a totally different process.
Love your channel
Great video Perry. Thanks
Thanks man
Well, that saved me a lot of time. I tried to slow burn cloth in a paint can to get punk but your way is much faster and just as good.
Nice vid, like the punk wood idea over char cloth, won't blow away so easy!
The other thing is it lasts a long time unlike char cloth that is out in a half minute or so.

I suppose that might work, would be nice to try it.

There is probably a way to make punk wood, but there is plenty around here
Why did you run it through a ban saw? It can come apart with your hands
