I sometimes wonder what Clemson would look like if they had to play USC, UCLA, Washington, Oregon, CAL, Oregon State, Wazzu, Utah, Arizona, and Notre Dame all in a row, no byes, only 4 home games, no FCS breaks. No g5 breaks....not saying they'd be winless, but would they be lossless? Especially when those teams have known your tendencies for 100 years plus, know your plays, your personell? Would Clemson really be a perennial 10 game winner? That type of schedule is second nature to a team like Stanford, that's why they've bested 4 of the 6 Ohio State starting QB's they've faced over the years. This is the youngest and weakest Stanford roster in 20 years that Clemson will facing, they were decimated by the portal when David Shaw left unexpectedly. Gone is the pro style offense and formidable offense lines and rushing attack of SHAW, replaced by the basic high school option offense of Taylor. CLEMSON should win easily if they bring their "A" game, but they best bring their "A" game, or Stanford will make them pay. They won't be intimidated by Death Valley, they are used to hostile stadiums, and it motivates them. There's a reason they are 44-46 vs Washington since 1893, and they were just one 4th down conversion from being 45-45, keeping yet another PAC champion out of the college football playoffs.
You talk like USC, UCLA, Washington, Oregon, Cal, Oregon State, Wazzu, Arizona, and Notre Dame have been perennial powerhouse football teams. Maybe 50 years ago these western teams were monsters of the midway, but not in modern history. The SEC has been dominant in the recent past, and Clemson has fared well against any conference. Clemson is not afraid of the trees!
@sarge1231 EVERY one of THOSE teams has WON a power Conference football championship TITLE since the year 2000....that's 25 years, only half of 50 years (save for AZ&UCLA, who made the champ games but fell short) and ND who doesn't play a title game (but has won, all but 4, of their last 30 scheduled ACC matchups ) . Clemson scheduling comes NOTHING close to that kind of competition with their 8 game schedule. and ...THEY can't play themselves.... Stanford also regularly schedules an 11th power team in true home and home. Stanford has a winning record vs SEC, the last time they played Georgia Bulldogs they were down 0-15 at half, 0-22 after Georgia's first drive of 3rd ...then took the lead by the first second of 4th quarter, and never let the puppy dogs score again. and NICK Saban, Stanford once played Nick Saban's team in a bowl game and thumped him 38-0, LOL, they don't fear Clemson. Respect maybe, but not fear, especially in games they aren't expected to win.

You have to be smart to get into Stanford. Smart players are usually well disciplined. We cannot take this team lightly
