- When I was a kid, I was OBSESSED with Kinder Eggs and the toys that came inside them. And now almost 20 years later, here they are, in a dusty box that was sitting in my parents garage. Let's hope there's no spiders in here...

Definitely, the toys were way better quality they are crap now. I have an unmade jeep from the early 80s with metal gears, too.

since i had kids 5 years ago and started buying kinder surprise again, i imediately told myself they don't put good toys anymore, neither they do with happy meal, we had a great childhood !

I have a collection of the Happy Happy Hippos toys from when I lived in Germany. Damn I miss Kinder Eggs! The nostalgia is real.

What I see in local Aldi stores, I see a different kind of kinder egg,they have a plastic shell, and have 2 compartments, one for the toy, and 1 for the candy, which is a Polish cream with 2 chocolate waffer balls atop the cream.
Such cool nifty toys! Something about small toys makes me really happy. I grew up in the states so I never got to collect these but I'd be so into them if they were and thankfully they are now as Kinder Joys. I've been collecting Kinder Joy toys and those are really cool.

Actually not banned in America. They’re just not wrapped like that. The toy is separate from the chocolate so kids don’t choke.
That’s kinder joy, it’s a little bit different from a kinder egg.

those blue “happy hippos” from 1993 was also my first kinder egg toys, i have all 10 of them

Looks like about 1995-2005 for the most part. I hope you didn’t just throw away the parts you couldn’t figure out, not because they are worth much money-wise, but because some other collector might find use for them and because there is enough garbage in the world that things that are not broken could still be channeled better than that.

I’m hooked to them since the big lockdown :x just like you I’ve found boxes at my parents house, took them back with me, sorted them, then searched just like you on the web... but what I did was to buy those I had not... some of them as you said have a very deep memory that talks to the little kid inside of me. I ended up crafting some shelves to put them on display... I’m still searching for figures that I can’t find cause very rare. Your hippo from 92 that you have (Hippo Tonic), is actually from 1996 Canada ! Yes, because they initially came out in Germany in 1990 (Happy Hippos fitness fever) then in the rest of Europe in 1992... and then in the americas in 1996. The rarest pieces are German. Cause they were exclusive to Germany, often the rest of Europe used to have different series. Now, you found the same figures everywhere.

@@jessdelight Hippo Tonic is actually the name of that figure. Each figure has its own name, and there are as many names as countries where they are sold. They normally come with the year carved next to the Ferrero logo. That’s how you know where they are from. But it seems that for the americas they’ve removed them. The hippos with the 1990 carving are one of the most expensive collections.

Funny fact it’s that the white chocolate inside it’s the white part of the egg, and the yellow box it’s the yellow part of the egg! :) this video remembering my childhood :)

Greetings from Colombia. I also had many Kinder Surprise collections, many of the ones you show in your video I was able to obtain at the time.
As for your question: "Why do you have figures that came out before you were born?", Ferrero made relaunches in the 1990s, that's why, at 8 years old, I had the Pingos (penguins) that are from 1992 but I got them in 1999 opening chocolate eggs.

My little cousin stole my kinder collection box 20 years ago, I'd still want it back.
I loved kinder eggs when I was little and still like them
I had one of the stone ones and it was my favourite toy I still think about it all the time! It was a toucan but turn it around and it was a gnome with the beak being his hat
I collected the hard figures my soft ones are al gone sold by my parents. (It became way too much). And now 25 years later i started recollecting with my son😅 btw there were books back then to see all the collections i still have one from 2003😂😂
I had some special ones that were released in 1990 i believe,at that time was FIFA world cup in Italy.Football playing smurfs.Also i share your opinion that today toy quality is lower then before,mostly due the tiny parts being choke hazard so toy parts are bigger or one piece.I was maybe 4 years old back then but i was smart enough not to swallow pieces or put them in my nose or ear.Today children don't appreciate stuff like this anymore,it was so special back then.
The plastic changed they're a lot durable now, also the animal themes have remained consistent and scale well in different sizes
I like to collect kinder egg toys and I started making a box of them right now but I have to dig grow my stuff to see if I have any old ones

For where I am, instead of it being banned, they changed it so there’s chocolate on one side, then the toy in the other so it isn’t a choking hazard

You may already know but if you look at them and find a "K" number (for ex K95n37) this then tells you what yr it came out, K95 =1995.& The 37 is the number of the toy in the series of toys for that yr ( K sometimes differs by a yr & variation of the toy)I think Italy & Europe used K numbers from maybe 1991 onwards. It's Awesome to see you getting some smiles from them 👍 😎 😎 some of the most simplistic ones are my absolute favourites , I guess simple things simple minds in my case 🤔😂🤣 But there's nothing simple about getting most of them to fit back into the darn capsules after again 🧐😱💩🤣 I personally don't touch any after 1999. It all went a bit "Pete Tong"(wrong) after 1999 for kinders imo ☹️
