I'm not sure why it was"hard" to get Carol to do the reaction... Or she doesn't like to. The two of you were an absolute joy to watch reacting and interacting together! The confusion turned "aha moment, then amazement made this performance (which I've seen 7-8 X's) the most enjoyable ofine. Also, I laughed a bit at the "dumb Swede" comment considering my B.S.Physics and Computational Mechanics professor was a 24 yr old Swede and my M.S. in Structural Eng. Advanced Composites/Aerospace Structural Systems and Validated Simulations were taught by an ingenious Swede and a brilliant German professor König , but if it wasn't for Dr. Wikström's ability to explain prof. König's theories in a language for non-genius students all 8 of us would have never made it. Because of his mentorship and work as a Project engineer with SKANSKA on the Öresundsbron Bridge he landed me my first major project after my service in the Corps was up. Also with SKANSKA in my hometown of Charleston, SC on the Arthur Ravenel Jr. Bridge (also known as Cooper River Bridge), the third longest among cable-stayed bridges in the Western Hemisphere. Just shared because of the similarities in the bridge design in The Swedish/Danish & Charleston/Mt.Pleasant(the first European settlement in SC), Swedish/American Mentor/Student ; and all this rambling because I am smoking a joint and heard "dumb Swede"obviously in jest but immediately thought of my mentor and reason I have the wonderful life I do!
I've read in comments elsewhere that they do a different show every week, so they literally learn different music and different choreography IN ONE WEEK. Beyond how amazing the music and choreography are, the fact that they have one week to learn it all just blows my mind!
My daughter was in TBDBITL. They will often put on a new show every week during the season, which means memorizing all the music (they don't carry music on the field), plus all the drill, between Monday and Friday Over 400 kids will compete for the Band every year, for just 225 places. It is as competitive as the football team, but the kids in the Band are so proud to represent the University like this, and they have the status of rock stars on campus and around the state. Oh, and the Band is unique in that it is an all brass and percussion ensemble, modeled after the traditional British brass band. It is the largest all brass and percussion band in the world.
I'm really glad you both enjoyed it, thank you for for reacting to The Ohio State Marching Band. It was fun seeing you and your lovely wife react to this hopefully yall can come to the states and see it in person someday soon! Much love from PA 🇺🇸!!
I live in Ohio and we have, hands down, the BEST college marching band in the nation! Everytime I watch the video I get the chills and I'm still amazed! Thanks to whoever suggested this video.
Not as good as the Michigan Marching Band, Go Blue! Then, I may just be biased as a Wolverine fan; though I do have respect for both the Ohio State marching band and the Spartan Marching Band. I think Wolverines, Spartans and even Buckeyes can all agree that Big Ten bands are without a doubt the best in college, and it's not even close. Also, I cannot wait for the season to start; I'm looking forward to the ND-OSU game to kick off the season. And as much as I hate the Bucks (and it is a lot!) I think I'll be rooting for them over Notre Dame (what have I just said?!) At least OSU is in the Big Ten Conference though!
Superman is able to leap a tall building in a single bound! He's putting the building upright again. Ohio State Band has a lot of musicians in it so able to do a lot more on the field than other marching bands. I was in a University marching band and it takes hours and hours of practice to get a show up and running. There were many nights when we were on the field at midnight practicing. I wouldn't trade any of it - some of the best years of my life!! 🙂
Yes, you were right - that was Superman saving a building. In the original movies, Superman changed in a phone booth. We don’t have phone booths anymore so I’m not sure where he’ll change now…hahaha. Did you see the T-Rex eat the Michigan person? They (Ohio State football) were playing U. of Michigan so hence the T-Rex eating the enemy and the Ohio St. ship sinking the Michigan ship. So clever and well done. They march and have to play the music too. Amazing! So glad you liked it. They do one in London I think you’d like. 😃 Nice to see your wife react too Recky.
I am from Ohio State, I've loved the Ohio State Buckeyes all my life..I was born and bred a Buckeye.......i'm actually crying, I'm overwhelmed and I've seen this dozens of times.......this is how much we love Ohio State Buckeyes. This is why we are called. "the best Damn band in the Land "!!!!!!
I was in the high school marching band, almost every city has at least one high school and large cities have multiple high schools. On Friday nights a school is either at home or away. At each football game both schools bands march at half time. Most are quite professional and very entertaining. Of course not as complex at a major University such as Ohio State but never less a lot of fun for both the students and the spectators. Thanks for playing this and I enjoy your channel. May want to look at Texas A&M marching band as well or some other major University. (They are more military type) loved meeting the misses as well. God bless.
I’m not from ohio, but that band is renowned everywhere around the US as being on of, if not the best bands in the nation. I’m so glad you reacted to this lol
My brother lived in Michigan for a while and was the only one from Ohio in the office. He's a big OSU fan and everytime the two teams played they gave him a hard time 😂
I've seen this video many times and each time I am awed! Remember, these are college students, playing the instruments, marching and maneuvering to exact spots. Just amazing! I'm so glad you got to see this wonderful performance.
THE Ohio State marching band is also known as TBDBITL. The Best Damn Band In The Land. Ohio Stadium, The Horseshoe capacity is 102,780. Third most to Michigan and then Penn State. All 3 are Big Ten teams. Did you catch the Ohio Buckeye chant at the end? OH, IO.
Congratulations on your 10K subscribers, Recky! So happy to finally meet your lovely wife. Hope to see you here again, Carol. A big thank you for your fun reactions, from North Carolina.
Just imagine, a gorgeous Saturday afternoon going to a packed stadium, the excitement and anticipation and seeing them pregame, watching the game and then seeing this performance live at halftime. Its too much to fathom. Its why we love our college football and even high school games. These kids start learning to march and play in middle school. While osu is known for their choreography it fun to watch other teams bands too with their own brand. Sometimes just marching thru eachother or military style is really good too. I used to love going to marching band contests when my son was in highschool. Just a whole day of them competeing.
It's so fun watching you two reacting! We see these things all the time and we can get used to it. Watching you is like watching wonder-filled children delighting in something brand new. Wonderful!! Thank you for sharing and Carol - come on more often! You are a delight!
Congratulations on 10K subscribers, Mr. Recky! Nice of your Mrs. to join you in the video. By the way, marching bands are pretty common in America. My high school had one as do many high schools here. Sometimes they even play Skynyrd, duuuude! Oh yeah!! That reminds me, I need to go play some Skynyrd now. C ya! 🙂
Ohio State has done many great halftime shows , One you might enjoy is their 2015 show at Wembley Stadium in London , at the end they do whats called Script Ohio which is very famous in college football , the rest of the show is pretty damn cool too.
They are amazing! I belonged to a drum and bagel corps as a teenager called the Connecticut Classics and we competed but these guys are over and way above. Wow! Thanks for sharing! Yes they play and move while they are playing.
I loved being in marching band in high school. I helped my husband write shows. Each person has a script of each step in the show. Take a look at marching band competitions. I was in color guard mostly. They have just drum line and just color guard competitions as well. It is a blast to be in it and a blast to watch.
I loved seeing and hearing both of your reactions!! Marching Bands have been a part of my life for a very long time. I was in Band ages ago. My son traveled all over the world while being in High school and college. This year he begins his 19th year of being a Band Director/Teacher. Hours and hours of practice, concentration and loving music and marching. Thank you for your reactions!! Hello from Kansas USA Grandma 👵
It's crazy to see people from all over the world, especially Sweden, react to the band from my home state college! Glad you enjoyed it! They're known as "The Best Damn Band in the Land." They really are the best college marching band. And yes, during the pirates part, they were "sinking" the enemy ship, University of Michigan. They are our arch rivals. OH-IO! Also, we'd love to see more of Carol! 😘
Hello from Ohio! Marching band is huge in our part of the state. Our medium sized town has over 100 students in our high school marching band. Many of us go to football games just to see our marching band perform. We've had quite a few students earn scholarships to Ohio State for band.
Another great video Recky! And hello from South Carolina in the United States Carol. It was very nice to see you on here with Recky! And I hope the two of you do another reaction together. I really enjoyed it.
It was fun to watch your reaction. We are very accustomed to seeing it in the States so when others see it for the first time, it reminds us not to take it for granted.
In high school in college here in the US The time between the 1st half and the second half there is the half time show which is the marching band This is what I love about Call lynch football. The patron G., The school pride, the rivalry's. That atmosphere is alit. he Ohio state marching band Is apparently considered the top marching college band. Also note it is called the Ohio state never oh Ohio state And it's the buckeye's not buckeyes.
Congratulations on ten thousand!! So happy you liked the marching band. I did this in high school and we also made shapes and words although not quite this elaborate. It was more about math, memorization an precision than about coordination. Each persons every step is put on a grid. You memorize both the music and every step you take and where you need to be on the field on each note. If everyone gets it perfectly, it looks magical. That requires hours and hours and days of practice.🐝🤗❤️
Ohio State has a Video Games show that is phenomenal. Its emotional even though it’s goofy video games. Their NFL in London show was spine-tingling. The NFL chose Ohio State to provide the halftime show for their first ever NFL game overseas; in London. The show was “British Invasion”. (So many rock bands invaded the USA in the 1960’s & 70’s.) Superb & amazing.
Your wife is lovely and I enjoyed seeing you guys enjoy this! I was in marching band and it is hours upon hours of hard work! Go Buckeyes! THE OHIO STATE!
Both my son and daughter were in marching band in high school it started as a freshman and all the way up to a senior in high school playing marching it's incredibly hard work there have to be completely disciplined and it is a beautiful way to land a job it looks awesome on your resume Because it shows the kind of discipline and dedication you need to get an excellent job. And it's a lot of fun
13:00. And to think that this a UNIVERSITY half time show of an American Football game! As an aside, that marching band that you just watched were students ages 18-22! Thanks for the upload!
Just rewatched the 2 marching band reactions w my daughter( woke up w the sniffles) ,shes never watched them and smiled thru the whole thing. Thanks Rexky and Carol
@@Reckyj shes my baby at 16 ( yes I know, not a baby anymore lol). Our oldest is 19. Yikes! I'm old 😄. We dont agree on alot of videos to watch but she is liking these ones ❤
The first one was Clark Kent entering a phone booth where he changes into Superman and saves a skyscraper from falling. Also, Harry Potter in a Quidditch match, and I think you got all the others. So glad you enjoyed this! I think it’s remarkable!
Yes, they are playing the music that you are hearing. This is not new to, T.B.D.B.I.T.L. (The Best Damn Band In The Land). The "M" flag on the sunken ship, is their arch rival. They were not playing that team at this game. The band pulls off special halftime shows during special home games. This game was against the Penn State Nittany Lions.
Wow! Carol is so lovely and she seems so relaxed on camera i had no idea she wasnt big on the idea at first (i just subbed and i cant blame her...i wouldnt want to be on cam either 😂) im glad they have a combined channel now!
I was at this game. I worked at Ohio Stadium (the shoe) for 15 years and love TBDBITL (The Best Damn Band In The Land). It's great to see the world enjoy them as much as I do.
The movie reference you missed after Superman (moving a building) and The Lord of the Rings is Harry Potter on his broom and chasing the “Golden Snitch”.
Hello again from Colorado! I loved your reactions. Your genuine excitement was palpable even though I cannot see you or the marching band. I do love marching band videos and listening to your reaction and your wife’s reaction made it so much more exciting for me. Thank you for sharing and congratulations! Peace and love from Colorado
I don’t know how I’m just seeing this now, but thank you for reacting to a marching band. I was in one for several years and it takes months of practice to put on a show like that. Hours in the heat, the rain, the mud… there’s a deadline for this type of show and it must be met. The musicians have to try out for the band, they have to memorize an 6-10 minute shows worth of music AND the places they are supposed to be at a certain point in the music. Then they learn a new show. Some bands learn multiple shows a season, some only learn one and perfect it. This was probably a special game considering it was Michigan vs Ohio and they really can’t stand each other.
PS, also listening to you trying to figure out what the shapes were and then figuring it out and describing it as you’re figuring it out was very exciting for me because I clearly can’t see the formations that they’re performing on the field. Listening to react to the tea Rex was fun but then finding out that they were making it work was even more thrilling on my side because clearly I wouldn’t have a clue how they would do such a thing. Again thank you.
I'm Ohio born and raised and I have grown up on Ohio states band And they are some of the best in the country and I am very very very proud of them and the football team They are the heart of Ohio

Hi Heather! How old is your daughter? And tell her that Recky and Carol said hi! 💙
@@Reckyj shes my baby at 16 ( yes I know, not a baby anymore lol). Our oldest is 19. Yikes! I'm old 😄.
We dont agree on alot of videos to watch but she is liking these ones ❤
@@smallsparry Im glad that me and Carol been "approved" by one of you´s =)
I was in marching band in high school and then in a drum and bugle corps...it's such an amazing and fun thing to do!
Wow! Carol is so lovely and she seems so relaxed on camera i had no idea she wasnt big on the idea at first (i just subbed and i cant blame her...i wouldnt want to be on cam either 😂) im glad they have a combined channel now!
The Best Damn Band in the Land!!!

Loved your reactions !
I was at this game. I worked at Ohio Stadium (the shoe) for 15 years and love TBDBITL (The Best Damn Band In The Land). It's great to see the world enjoy them as much as I do.
We sure did!
The movie reference you missed after Superman (moving a building) and The Lord of the Rings is Harry Potter on his broom and chasing the “Golden Snitch”.
Amazing video and Carol is so sweet! 😍
♥️♥️
Thank you Stella!
subscribers! RECKY! ITS crazy how I came by you! I grew up in the West Virginia Ohio country roads! I go to these games when I visit north country!
Thank you for joining us Carol
Congrats on all your subs btw Recky! 🏆🍻
