We must be clear that not everything that singers, composers and novel writers write has to do with their private lives.
They simply generate different forms of art and creative writing, such as songs, novels, short stories, books, poetry and plays that may be of interest to the public.
In this case Paulina wrote this song when she was 13 years old and it refers to addiction.
No, she’s a born storyteller and was writing from the perspective of a person at the end of their rope. People have always asked how they can write such adult themes so convincingly and the usual response is that they read a lot. Very smart kids they were.
React to breathe, Paulina is a wonderful girl 😢, shes songs touch my heart
This song is about addiction NOT teenage angst.
Pau is amazing this song means a lot to many people who are in recovery from addiction but wow how about that performance she had that crowd in the palm of her hands. The next song in the show Breathe is amazing the crowd shows their love in a big way it's beautiful. Thanks Inna great reaction. 🔥⚡
I understand that Pau wrote this song from the perspective of an addict, but, this performance along with Breath, appears to take on a whole new perspective and looked very personal to her. A song, or poem can mean one thing originally, but take on a different life and mean something entirely different. Her overt emotional expressions were the same although way through Black Holes and Breath.
Have you done "Breathe" from the same concert yet? Even better due to its even-stronger emotions--which I know is hard to believe given how you reacted to this one. Pau is one incredibly talented and multi-faceted person!
Many of the songs they wrote do not reflect their experiences in life, they were inspired by other people's stories or events happening in the world at the time.
great reaction! I love Black Holes! 🙏
Slash ft myles kennedy n the conspirator "anastasia"❤
Great reaction, but please in future reactions try to not speak over the performance during the climax of the song, when she hit the emotional belting.
She read a story in the paper of someones story of struggling with addiction so she wrote a song about it. She's Amazing...
Paulina was not joined on stage by her sisters for this. She was joined by ten other women on strings: six violins, two violas, and two cellos. She wrote this song about an individual she knew of who was struggling with addiction and losing that fight.
"Black Holes" was based on her reading of an individual with an addiction and wrote based on that article. "Breathe" was written about the loss of one of her close friends.
The song is not about personal experience (thank god). She got the inspiration from reading an article about addictions. Pretty much all their early songs took inspiration from the outside, things they were seeing and reading about. Notable exception is "When I'm Alone", which Dany wrote from being homesick during their 5 week summer program at Berklee.
The fact that she could perform while being sick, let alone sound this good, is insane! 😳⚡️🤘
Now, you must react to the next song from this show. The song is "Breathe." Make sure you have the closed caotions on, and a tissue handy. You'll want the caotions so you yiu can understand her introduction to the song. It's important. I look forward to hearing your reaction.
Be sure to set captions to Auto Tranlate to English as the comments she makes are in spanish.❤
Molto brave. Secondo me meritano tutto il successo e gli apprezzamenti positivi da parte della critica internazionale
Great reaction!
Aboslutely wonderful live performance!!
Paulina wrote this song about addictions (not from personal experiences) when se was 13 yo. Amazing!
She born to do this and she is a treasure for all humanity!
Viva The Warning!! ⚡⚡⚡
Now go watch Breathe from the same show at the Pepsi center, have some tissues around and enable the subtitles because Pau say some things in Spanish and that's important for context, may be one of the most emotional performances ever, cheers from Mexico city! ✌️
All of them play piano; Pau likes to bang out random stuff on the piano while creating new songs - or at least the start of them. So, in some ways piano is just as "natural" to her as her beloved drum set. Especially creatively.
What I find amusing in this video is that, even though she's actually playing an electric programmable keyboard laid on top of a piano shell... she still instinctively presses the piano pedals, even though they have no effect. It's just "muscle memory" from playing her actual piano back home.
Beauty song
Thanks for your comments and insights. As mentioned by others, Pau gets a lot of her lyrical ideas from things she reads, something she's mentioned in at least a couple interviews. She's a passionate woman and clearly has a talent for conveying emotions.
She follows this song immediately with another one, "Breathe", that she introduces (in Spanish) as something personal, one she never intended to perform live, but she tells us why she chose to do so. "Breathe" is well worth your time. (Just a thought: you might want to enable subtitles and set autotranslate to English for your main audience.)
this song is about of addictions , not about love or relationship
Most beautiful song about addiction and self-destructive behavior ever written.
Really impressive songwriting and music writing skills. I believe at the level of a genius, because let's remind they all 3 are 19-24 y'o.
Pau is just great. From a beast at the drums to a poet on the piano. Incredible!
she wrote that almost 10 years ago.. i cant wait for what she does in the next 10 foward from there. im amazed of her talent for vocal and drumming ❤🌹
This was from one of their 10th anniversary concerts, I think in Mexico City, they had a symphony there with them for the concert
🤘🏻🤘🏻
🤘⚡🤘 excellent, but of course I knew that already because I was in the live. Twitch is where the fun happens.
Paulina maestra de la interpretacion y composicion ,una verdadera estrella de rock
🤘🤘🤘🔥🔥🔥
🤟
I'd watch you read a phonebook.
Perhaps Pau put those teenage feelings into her writing. Pau is a genius and a world class artist.

Beneath a bare lightbulb, she spoke the truth of sages older than the hills, while riffing into the sunset hooked on dental floss.
